Rex, if you can run Skyrim, you should be able to run the FNIS Generator as well.

FNIS requires .NET 3.5 or 4.0. And both are working on XP. Only .NET 4.5 would not, but this is not required for FNIS. If you cannot run FNIS, because .NET cannot be installed, then this is not because you have XP. It'S because you have a BADLY running XP. Mostly caused by malware.

First, you have to install all XP Updates. That's required by .NET. If you have tried all .NET repair tools for .NET (see the FNIS FAQ for details), you have to consider re-installing your OS. I don't know if the in-place update works for XP (that's the least intrusive way of OS re-install). But if not, then I would go directly to a re-install.

Because if you can't install FNIS, because you can install .NET, then there is basic problems with your OS, and then you have other problems and malfunctions as well.

That's just it... I have issues with .NET ... No malfunctions otherwise, but then again, I don't use .NET for anything either.

I tried it once before in it's early days, and had to reinstall the whole OS because of it.
OS disk is MIA right now, so reinstall is not an option.
For XP, .NET is an Optional package, not a required one.
As such, there is no error with the OS, in and of itself.
Since I have never done much that needed such, it has never been a priority to install earlier. Just personal curiousity, and that hasn't been very strong on that topic due to earlier issues with it.

Basic Rule : If you don't have the materials to do a reinstall, don't tinker too much with something that deals with the OS that much. It may mis-install (bad copy, bad sectors, power outage, whatever the reason...), and force a reinstall of the whole dang thing. If you can't do a reinstall at that point, you are stuck. (See first note)

That is what I am using, so it isn't a mandated thing.

Thx for the attempt to help though.

Thx, Dragondagger, for the perfect fix to get me through dragonborn. Without it, I think I'd still be standing at the base of that mushroom house, trying to float up. The last I looked, it still wasn't fixed.

      Ok... I will say this...

I TRIED to do the FNIS thing that others said to do here... and it didn't work.

It royally messed things up on my end, so I had to reinstall everything of the game. When I did that... the levitation worked perfectly, with no problems. (*shrugs*)

I can verify on this point that it's not an issue with the core game, but with things that are tweaked by mods... As such... It won't be likely to get a fix. If you are expecting a fix, it's probably not going to be coming. (*shrugs helplessly*)

That being said... Glad it's working out for you.

if you use xp32 skeleton, it is what messes it up. Most people on Nexus probably use it now, but if you run FNIS it should make the lift work, but your animations might be messy, if you use the behavior fix on xp32 max skeleton it is what messes up the lift, so its a behavior related problem for all the dragonborn animations.

I do use xp, but the programs for fnis won't even install on my system anymore. I can't even run the recent programs for fnis to install them. I tried, and it scrapped the entire game. I had to reinstall the game from scratch absolute scratch. As such, I don't worry about them anymore.

Now I run a new version, without fnis, and it works fine, including with the lift. (*shrugs*)

Without having a job, I can't upgrade the OS, and so I won't be getting anything different to run it on. (No money means I don't have a lot of choice in the matter.)

This was meant as a work around from problems I had when I could get fnis installed, and partially working. It won't be updated in the future, but this does work, and is available to those that need/want it if they have the same problem.

I install ALL mods manually now ... I played the mod/add-on manager game with WOW, and a few other things long ago... It caused so many problems I don't even play WOW anymore. If it doesn't install manually, then I don't use the mod... (Hence, why it wasn't on my system before).

If you look at my earlier comment, I did get the two files. I put them into the directory as needed, I went to the tools directory, and tried to run the program (Generate FNISforUsers) ... and it gave me errors with the .NET system, and then refused to run/install... (*smiles and shrugs*) ... I even tried to run it by selecting the file in the "Data Files" lists with the basic installer as well anyways... No such luck. Issue not resolved. (*smiles and shrugs*)

How are you installing it? The easiest way to install it is though the mod manager. You install the two main files and then go to tools in your skyrim data folder. You should find the rest of the from there.

At the start when I tried to install FNIS I had a lot of trouble with it. It was because I didn't understand how to install it properly. I hope this help.

(Not sure why it didn't accept the edit earlier.) (*shrugs*) (If it shows up, understand my earlier msg edit was written before this one.)

I did try to install FNIS since you commented... It said I had to run a program to get it to work. I tried to run that program (GenerateFNISforUsers), and my system said there was a problem with the .NET system, and errored out, without running the program (Framework Initialization Error). As such, the issue remains, and the animations don't work. (*smiles and shrugs*)

While I am willing to agree that FNIS may fix some of the issues where it is installed, I am in a position where I can't even run the programs that it says are required for installing it. As such, it isn't a solution that my system will deal with. If it is an issue with my system, I am willing to bet that others may have the same issue.

You should try to download FNIS then. The DLC isn't the same without the animations. I'm not trying to sound like a pain or anything, but it might help you and yes, I do understand why you would post this mod.

    Good luck.
