Wow, this mod is almost ten years old and it still works great! Unfortunately, I have been getting crashes probably not caused by this mod... but since this is what I most recently installed, where in my load order should I place this? Should I keep it where Loot thinks it should go? Just making sure this is not giving me trouble, y'know?
Drop bars are a thing, so the meshes and skins should be out there. I'm still looking for a catalogue of the available doors with dimensions supported. I quite often want a door for an abandoned hut or fort archway. Placeatme gets some pretty weird angles too.
Imagine you leaf through the catalogue. A wide but normal height door, rustic. ID# xx5d123 (stand back to hinge point, face opposite post) A 150% of standard door height and width fort gate. ID# xx16075f (stand in the gateway centrally looking outwards with a post either side of you) A cupboard sliding door about knee high (Riften market) ID#...
A real note on locks. 1) Bring up the console. 2) Click on the door, chest or security box. 3) Type: Lock 99 (to master lock), lock 10 (to very basic lock)
I think any number over 100 (strangely I only use 150) and you will need the specific key to open it. So if you have a key to a rubbish lock, you can make it uniquely secure. Make sure you have the key for that lock. I'm not sure "unlock" can help you with such a lock. Test the key on "lock 99" first to be certain.
There are quests and buiilds of character that rely on weak and infrequent locks. You would need lock breaking, window access, skylight access and moveable ladders. Balance needs posibility even if you make things more challenging. A simple bolt that can be broken noisily offers overnight security without the option to lock NPCs up until doomsday or squat a room in an inn (without paying past the first day).
The doors would make more sense if some rooms rented out didn't have other people's stuff lying about. Money bags on the table? Really?
Well, the idea is very interesting but i personnaly think it would be way better and useful if you add locks to every doors, which would make life more challenging for thieves because it's way too easy to steal in Inns.
Actually i found your mod because i was thinking of making a mod that would add locked doors to most places with lots of items or valuable stuffs (basically inns, taverns, shops, some rich people's houses, palaces, the College, temples...). Thievery would be way more interesting because you would have to lockpick the doors to get in the rooms, which make witnesses react accordingly.
Maybe also add NPCs to guard shops bigger shops at night too.
One of those small mods everybody has been looking for without knowing it. The well written story book that comes with it had me laugh out loudly several times. Very, very well done! Now if only there was an easy way to usher those unwelcome guests out before going to sleep...
Hello! I have just finished my first playthrough of Skyrim, and I thought I'd stop by all the mods I used to enhance the experience to say thanks. So, thanks for the great mod!
I spent the first few hours after installing just running around opening and closing doors. True story!
I noticed that some of the taverns were ending up with double doors to the rooms. I am starting a new game on a clean install so I will try and let you know which ones are doubling up,
Thank you for this - I hated not having a door on my room and waking up to complete strangers sitting in your room.
Now if you can only do something with the idiots that walk in on private meetings - I would be a happy camper. Point in fact, is when you are meeting with Delphine (supposedly in some secret room) and you end up with half of the Inn's patrons walking in on it.Really frustrating.

You should try to do that.

Cheers,
Why were there no doors?! I suppose it did make it easier to walk in and steal everything in sight but this is much better.
Nice work leapinglizard.
