"For the confused people, there are some armor mods which use Astrid's burnt texture as the underlying skin texture for the armor. One of them, if I remember correctly, was the Art of Magicka mod; if you didn't change the .nif file yourself, then the armor would be displayed as if over a burnt corpse while in the inventory or if you did not have the correct body mod installed. This is saying that those base Astrid burnt skin texture files can now be changed to a regular skin texture without impacting upon when Astrid is actually burnt during the quest. At least, that should be how it works" - lyss
If you don't use custom armor you don't need it. But if you use custom armor that have problem something like you see some burned people, (Females) then you can fix it by loading your custom armor to Nifskope program and change astrid body texture to Default vanilla path texture..
It fixed my issues, I had a bug where people were walking around whiterun with the astrid burnt body textures, now they look normal. I'm not sure if I did it correctly but it worked. I renamed a copy of my texture files to the names listed in the description, after installing the mod, then I had no more burnt people.

Is there a purpose here? I don't think the Astrid textures have anyhting else to do with armour textures. I just don't see the purpose. Burned Astrid is a unique actor, so there shouldn't be any issues with her in anything in the Vanilla game, or anything in modded Skyrim.
Could you explain a little more what this mod does and what its used for? I am guessing its so you can use Astrids textures , not sure if for your own player or another NPC, but then I am just guessing.
I don't actually understand what this mod does and why anyone would need it. You haven't explained yourself well at all, as i see no reason why anyone needs a mod like this.

Example:
If in your custom armor you see this:
textures\actors\character\female\AstridBody.dds
textures\actors\character\female\femalebody_0_msn.dds
textures\actors\character\female\FemaleBody_1_sk.dds
textures\actors\character\female\AstridBody_s.dds
Then you need change like this:
textures\actors\character\female\femalebody_1.dds
textures\actors\character\female\femalebody_1_msn.DDS
textures\actors\character\female\FemaleBody_1_sk.dds
textures\actors\character\female\femalebody_1_s.dds
P.S. I hope I helped someone.
