I will note that I've looked at a lot of Nordic Ruin based player homes and this is the best I've seen so far. My biggest beef with most is they're overwhelmingly large, this home has everything you need but small enough to keep everything readily accessible. I wholeheartedly endorse this mod.
This home is beautiful and I can't think of anything major that I'd change at all. You've done a great job creating a lush and gorgeous nature filled home. I agree with NotteLadro that this should not be converted to an open space. It would be an FPS killer and, for those using Frostfall, a character killer. I also agree that a small shrine, statue, or doomstone on the garden island would be a nice touch.
Hey. Definitely one of the better nature homes I've used, and it's close proximity to Riften makes it a favorite of mine. Reading through the comments and all the feedback, I'd suggest a few things myself...
I would avoid making the home considered an open world space. This may backfire for anyone using the Frostfall mod, and people using it tend to play nature-y or survival types that would be drawn to a home like this, so you may want to message the mod author, Chesko, with a question about it. Having it be considered an open world could backfire if Frostfall starts labeling it as anything less than "temperate," which is the lowest it can go before it gets cold and would start to threaten to kill the player via freezing to death while sleeping, or they'd be require to build campfires all over the abode. Not saying you need to do any of the above, but just a forewarning of a possible conflict. That said, for night lighting, I'm not sure, other than to add that sticking to the central light theme would probably be good. Maybe consider giving it a moonlit, ethereal blue glow? I'm not sure what else to say on that subject.
I think the home is pretty much perfect as is. I'd avoid removing much of anything, unless you plan on branching off separate versions. While there could be some more flat surfaces for customization, book-lovers such as myself would be very put-off by the removal of a shelf or two. The display area is fine, but could probably have a weapon rack or two on the pillars replaced with a light source or shelves, or perhaps move them to the walls nearby and take out the pillars to place some tables. I think it looks alright as-is, however.
To the others' comments, I think a shrine in the center grove would be nifty. There's also another mod, The Tesseract, a home that also features a interchangeable shrine of the player's choice. If you need a resource, consider taking that apart as well.
the place looks great. the only issue i've noticed is a slight fps drop when in the central area. it is definitely my new permanent home in skyrim. the fps drop is somewhat annoying, but i'm attributing that to some hd textures i have installed, not your mod. thanks for re-renewing my skyrim addiction until dragonborn.
If you're using the Flora Overhaul, I can also confirm that the center garden will take a shotgun to your FPS. It drops like a rock at some points, but that's only because of the attention to detail.
I love the dungeon especially the central garden/fish pond--it's good for swimming too. I agree that there aren't enough chest. Question on the bathroom: bathtub or shower? I could not set down or get any water to come from the top, except for a few dropss. Also, there should be at least one wardrobe. That's important, even for guys. Most players don't comment about the shabby straw beds. The dungeon is too nice to have a cheat bed like that one. Ii should have the one with the bedspread and pillows. That's befitting the Dargonborn. I was reading more of the comments and i saw where a staff was left to summon the spraggon. can anyone point me in it's direction? i really would appreciate it. thx. and thx for the great home. i forgot to say that earlier.
The Vanilla edits were just me poking around looking at the data. They just registered as being changed, but nothing really was. I'll go back and fix it, but in the mean time... don't worry, nothing ridiculous is going on with the vanilla entries.
