2019 and this sounds the best and eeriest of what I can find. Horses in Cyrodill are not the same as in Skyrim. Skyrim wolves are not earth wolves. Furr is more ragged, eyes are more human, stance is more dog like, and howl is more cyote. I like that.
I see this is an older mod, but it still works great and sounds so much better than vanilla!
I read comments below that these are actually coyote sounds, but I have to say it doesn't matter to me. Coyotes, wolves, whatever - it sounds really good!
Very good mod. Completely fixes the job Bethesda did by getting Steve to howl into a mic on his lunch break while playing foot sack.
If you added more options, one for the original coyote sounds, another with wolf sounds and another with both that would be even cooler! But this is a great replacement as is.
Agreeing with what most people said - yes, kudos to you for a fine job! And yea, they ARE coyote sounds which was a bummer for me, but I know tons of other players wouldn't know or care because YES - those original sounds made me think of a programmer "howling" into his built-in mic! :OI've been calling the vanilla howls "programmer howls" with my friends.
I live on a ranch and the coyotes come down every week or two, especially when the sheep have their lambs. I lost two chickens to the coyotes too. So I've got 'em "up close and personal" and I have to run out and fire with my shotgun (into the hillside to scare them off; don't believe in killing them, they're just "working for a living). So yes, they are absolutely coyotes sounds and so I can't use the mod cause for me it's the same thing - totally irritated at programmer howls or totally irritated at coyote-not-wolf-sounds!
But that doesn't take away from the good job you did putting this together! If you had the time/motivation to pursue, you could make a complete new COYOTE mod which adds coyotes to the game (how cool would that be!?) and it could use this mod's sounds, and you could update this mod with "real" wolf sounds (they sound a LOT like dogs, actually; think of a German Shepherd howling)! Yea...a coyote add on would be bitchin'!
Great mod, so I installed it and my cat get's himself comfortable by my side on the arm chair, the wolf howl's and my cat nearly jumped off the chair, definitely an improvement and more than realistic enough, made me chuckle as well.
