Tried this, and it's amazing. Unfortunately it causes my game to crash quite frequently, and so I had to reluctantly uninstall it. If I could find out what's causing the crashed I'd use it all the time, but so far nothing I have tried works.

I'm using a fresh, clean Skyrim install on a recently formatted drive, and Variable Movement Speed is the only mod currently installed, and the crashes began fairly soon after installing it. If I disable the mod in Mod Manager, the crashes stop.

    Weird.

Probably a looping script or something. Same issue with Immersive Detection of NPC

Great idea and one of those something's that should have been in the game already.
*edit after testing.. this is just amazing. You can gradually slow down from running with this too. So no more instant stops when you want to walk. Need more endorses.

Superb mod! it is strange it doesn't get a lot more endorsements. I have noticed some strange behavior when moving with a shield raised or a bow drawn. I'd be glad if the author would update this mod.

Back again. Got it working, but I'm still confused as to why it works. @narphous: Thanks for your earlier posts because I would have never thought of this on my own and might have just given up. Here's what I did: Clean save -> reinstall -> place the esp on the 100th slot (Assuming you have that many mods.) -> ??? -> Profit! Still have no freaking clue as to why this helps it work, but it's running smoothly now. Thanks again! ^_^

So, I have even more weirdness to report. After loading up all those other mods I downloaded this morning. Saving, exiting, reinstalling your mod, and loading up, (Clean saving/loading) IT WORKED! (sort of) Saving and loading afterwards causes it to go right back to broken. T_T No change in mod load order or any other changes. Saving and loading within the same game session breaks it. I am utterly confused. Thanks again for any help.

First I must say, THANK YOU! This mod helped me view my keyboard as a viable option as opposed to my 360 controller that I have hooked up to my PC. However, I too do seem to be experiencing problems. Last night it was working like a charm. This morning I put on a few more mods (None of which affect key bindings or movement) and the mod stopped working as described in your troubleshooting section. I turned off every mod I had installed this morning, uninstalled your mod (At this point I loaded up Skyrim and my camera came back, so I know it uninstalled properly.), and then reinstalled your mod (Mind this was with the exact same mod setup and load order I had before I started encountering problems.) And it still didn't work. T_T I LOVE this mod! I hope to see updates in the future and any help you can offer regarding this helps immensely. Thank you for your time.

Well, the weird is back, and it's extra weird. If I go over 128 esp mods, the script immediately stops working, and I do mean immediately, as in the script won't fire in any of my saves, even ones it was working in. If I disable esps until I get back to 128 then viola, it's working again unless I've saved, in which case whatever caused the script to stop firing gets written in the save. I think this may be related to the original problem I had, since when I first started using this I was running around 200-ish esp based mods. Why 128 is a magic number, I don't know, other than that's also a power of 2 boundary.

So I had this working for over a month after resetting my ini files, and through 2 different characters. But there were a few more armors and such that I wanted and I was slowing adding them back in. That's how I found this "new" issue.

edit: update... I moved this mod to the top of my load order and was able to activate several several more esps. It looks like this mod just doesn't like being numbered above 128, for whatever reason. Having it at the top of my load order works for me because I don't have any other mods that affect player movement speed.

Yeah, I can't let anything go.... I did finally figure out my problem. It was something in my ini files. I reset them both to defaults, then selected ultra settings from the skyrim launcher, and the mod has been working flawlessly since. I saved the old ones in case the mod author wants to look at them to see what might have been breaking the mod.

That's good. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time. It would be nice to see some customization though.
    Endorsed.

Please don't let this die. It's way way better than making those pesky NPCs run at the same speed the character does.

Reliability issues aside, I'm wondering if it's possible to actually start or stop moving by using the mouse wheel, kinda like the acceleration and deceleration of a car.
