ANDUNIEL COMPANION README -- UPDATED 8-1-14
------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------
KNOWN CONFLICT MODS
----------------------------------
Breezehome Fully Upgraded: puts an NPC in the Bannered Mare which may cause a scene to freeze because he sits in same chair as my NPC. Disabling him allows the scene to play, then re-enable him.
Undeath: Places a building in same place as my meadery.
Ramas Ur: Places a bridge at same location as my meadery.
Aurora Village: Places an entire village at same place as my meadery.
Possible Conflict:
Immersive College of Winterhold: moves a lot of stuff around, might move the alchemy table Tatiyana has to work at during the quest.

-----------------------------
ANDUNIEL'S QUESTS:
-----------------------------

Mini-Quests:
---------------

Kharjo must be ALIVE for this to work!
Anduniel's Meadery
The Were and the Way - Companions
Prereq: must have joined the Companions Guild (both for making sense and prevent conflict)

--------------------------------------------
SPECIAL FOLLOWER FUNCTIONS:
--------------------------------------------
Riding/Walking
- She will automatically summon her horse and ride if the player rides. Player can also tell her to ride. When she is riding, you can ask her to walk. It might take up to several seconds for the game to register her changed state.
Trade/Carry
- You can put items into Anduniel's carry bag that you don't want her to equip.
Magical Favor
- Ask Anduniel to cast Muffle, Light, or Rally. This can be useful in anticipation of battle.
Set Home
- Set any player home, vanilla or mod-added, as her home, as long as it has keyword LocTypePlayerHouse. When in the home a new dialogue comes up to tell her to live there.
Dismiss
- You can tell Anduniel to meet you later any vanilla inn, OR any player home that has been previously set, vanilla or mod-added.
Carriage Riding (vanilla carriages only)
- To get Anduniel to ride in a carriage with you, don't talk to the driver first. Just hop in the back, and she'll follow. After a few moments the driver will initiate dialogue. If you talk to the driver first, it will not give Anduniel time to get in before the screen goes black. As a vanilla rule, the carriage will not go anywhere if you are over-encumbered, even if you have God mode on (unless you use some sort of mod that changes this).
- Possible CONFLICT: Mod "TOURING CARRIAGES" only seems to work with Anduniel if you speak to the driver first (yes, complete opposite of what I just said), then choose your destination, and she will ride with you like any other follower. If you just hop in first, you don't get any destination choices, only "Never mind" I don't know why.
Setting Chatter Pace
- Select "Let's talk for a bit" then "About your chatter" to set Anduniel to chatter less often, all she wants, or not at all. You can select up to 4 minute (real time) intervals. However, the configuration is not set to her one-time or quest-specific comments, to make sure she still says them. In the new MERGED version (Anduniel into AnnaNPCs) MCM this option is included in theh optional MCM configuration.
Setting Outfit
- Anduniel has several custom-defined outfits, which you can set. When she changes outfits, anything she is wearing or had equipped (such as player-given armor or weapons) will switch to her inventory, like with vanilla followers. The "unequip all" was implemented into the outfit code to fix the problem of her losing stuff the player gave her when she changed.
- She is configured by default to not change randomly, but you can change that in her "Let's talk about your outfit" dialogue tree. If you set this, then when in certain faction headquarters, she might change of her own accord.
- CAUTION!! The "unequip" script is not full-proof, and sometimes seems to fail for unknown reasons. We can only assume this is a game issue. To avoid this, I advise you to take back from her any valuable weapons or amor you gave her before telling her to change. You've been warned, so don't complain that she lost your stuff!

--------------------------
ANDUNIEL'S MUSIC:
--------------------------
Some of Anduniel's songs are accessible only out in Tamriel, while a couple are only accessed in inns or player homes. She also randomly performs instrumental music in inns and player homes, similar to the vanilla Bards system. Request a song at any time or place. You can change mid-song as well (but if you do this you may have to tab out and ask again to give the scripts time to work).
Sometimes the song scripts glitch and it may take a few tries for a song to work. This is purely the game engine, nothing wrong with the mod. The scripting works very slowly in Skyrim, so sometimes the game takes a few seconds to process it. You can try a song when there is less activity happening in the location. Another thing that works EVERY single time is hitting Esc. or Spacebar AFTER you request but BEFORE she finishes replying.

---------------------------------------
GAINING ANDUNIEL'S FAVOR:
---------------------------------------
When you say nice things to her and give her things she likes, you win 1 favor point. These include spiced wine, mead, honey nut treats, and Woodland Stew (a new recipe in this mod). Her dialogue tree "Let's talk for a bit" and then "How are you doing?" will give randomized responses and allow you to give her things, and each fires 1x per day (so you can't just give her 50 bottles of Honningbrew!) You can tell by her answer if it's something she likes.
Helping her with each quest also wins favor points.
From the topic "Anduniel, I want to tell you something..." you can give her compliments. Each of these fires 1x per day.
Once your Favor level reaches 20, she will start saying comments about how much she likes being with you. She will also make leveled arrows and give them to you.
At any time you can check your favor by going to "Let's talk for a bit" then telling Anduniel "Show me your stats in detail."
In the new MERGED version, checking Favor in the optional MCM menu.

-------------------------------
Romancing and Marriage:
-------------------------------
Anduniel does not agree with the Skyrim marriage system. She wants love and friendship! Not just someone wearing an amulet, which is not necssary, nor is speaking to Maramal about marriage. You can give her things like flowers and weapons though dialogue. Each time you do it raises favor. You will see various dialogues related to romance, marriage, and friendship depending on your current favor and locations.

Requirements for Marriage:
- Must play a male elf or human, because she is straight
- Complete both mini-quests, and "Of Cures and Demons"
- Achieve a favor of at least 50
- Once these are done, a new topic will come up, allowing romance to begin and proceed with the wedding.
- The unique wedding, I hope, will be a very enjoyable change from the Temple of Riften!

--------------------------
TROUBESHOOTING:
--------------------------
A note about the quests: They work perfectly fine for us. However we cannot help it when the game glitches for whatever reason. If you think something is wrong, please take a moment to find out if there is a conflict of some kind between Anduniel and your other mods, before asking for help. If scenes get stuck (you get the message "This person is busy" when activating them), try Waiting an hour or fast traveling somewhere and back. That usually fixes scenes and allows them to finish.
Additionally, I am not a fan of "hand holding" with quests. I want you to think, use your brains. The quests DO work, and if you get stuck you can figure it out if you just think. So please try before commenting or messaging me. If you still need help, there is a Quest Walkthrough (Spoilers!) included.

Tracking Quest:
If any point you need to find Anduniel, Valla, or Tatiayana, you can activate this quest. Type:
"StartQuest FOL_Tracking"
Then select the NPC you need to find: 1 for Anduniel, 2 for Valla, 3 for Tatiayan
setstage fol_tracking 1 ==> Anduniel
setstage fol_tracking 2 ==> Valla
setstage fol_tracking 3 ==> Tatiyana

NOTES ON AFT COMPATIBILITY (by WileyQuixote)
---------------------------------------------------------------

I know you don't support AFT but for the most part she will play nice with it if players take some precautions (unfortunately, sometimes you kind of have to know what's coming).

When she says she is going to stay here for awhile, for example the Bard College. Use the AFT actions command "Dismiss Normal" after she says she is going to stay there. This allows her AI to take back over and work as intended.

When you tell her "it's time for us to part ways for awhile" you then also have to use the AFT command "Dismiss Normal". It's a little bit of a hassle but not much and then she doesn't stalk you from cell to cell. It also helps to wait and watch her go through a door, go into her sandbox mode what ever, or she can be pulled along in your wake if you do things in to fast an order.

AFT's outfit manager overrides her own very well. (If you never speak to her about wardrobe in her dialogue options) up until the wedding dress. She absolutely loves that thing and it is quite a fight to get her to stop loading new versions. I have to admit it was kind of cute the first time. I haven't wanted to mention Vilja because I'm sure you sick of hearing her name mentioned at this point. Rest assured your Character and Voice acting is superior in every way to her but she is the gold standard in the technical layout (of course it better be, they've had a whole team, 10 years, and two games to polish it lol). It would be nice to see that outfit manager incorporated into your mod. It allows multiple/single outfits for swimming, sleeping, adventuring, home, visiting yarls ect. I don't think it is entirely theirs I think it is that Wardrobe Manage Mod with a better interface grafted on.

With AFT people definitely should uncheck: skill synergy, power boost, self heal boost, anything with the words boost in it. By doing that and not giving her that Daedric Sword she covets, She won't be soloing two dragons at once.

QUEST WALKTHROUGHS and HELP !!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A Father's Gift
-----------------
Current status: fully playable and bug-free
Location: Anywhere in Riften or Rift Hold
Wait for Anduniel to mention a talisman. Then talk to her about it.
Go to Honeystrand Cave, just south of Ivarstead. Fight the bears. The talisman is in the dead goat (the goat ate it and was killed by bears).
Give it to Anduniel. She'll say she needs some things to fix it.
Give her a bear claw and a leather strip. She'll fix the talisman and put it on, ending the quest.

The Docks of Solitude
--------------------------
Current status: fully playable and bug-free
Location: Anywhere
Wait for Anduniel to mention the Bards College. Then ask her about it.
Anduniel will recognize arriving at the College and the quest will progress after you enter. Anduniel will talk to her friends.
You will be given objective to find a book. You can look around and find it youself, or follow the marker and ask Valla, who will lead you to it.
Give the book to Anduniel. She will look at it, then tell you she wants to spend the day with her friends. Come back the next day to recruit her again. When you do, she'll say she and her friends want to peform a song for you.
Follow them outside to the courtyard where the King Olaf ceremony is held. They will take their places and sing.
When the song finishes, Anduniel will greet you, ending the quest.
If you are nice and compliment the song, she will follow again automatcially, but if you say it needs work, you'll have to actually tell her to follow.
Valla can be a follower after this quest is completed.

Of Cures and Demons
---------------------------
Current status: fully playable and bug-free
Location: Eastmarch or Winterhold Holds, Anduniel will mention the College of Winterhold. Then talk to her about it.
You are directed to find Anduniel's friend Tatiyana, who is in the College Hall of Countenance or the Frozen Hearth (evenings/weekends) in the town.
Once you talk to her, she'll talk about a cure to the illness that killed Anduniel's mother, and direct you to her lab in the Midden.
Follow the marker, and once in the chamber Anduniel will have a scene. As Tatiayan instructed, grab Tatiyana's journal and the Hawk Feather, and return to her.
On the way back, you'll have to fight off "Anduniel's Inner Demons", one at a time. After the third, the marker is on Anduniel. Talk to her, then she'll suggest returning to Tatiyana.
Tatiyana will take the book and Feather, and then have a scene with Anduniel about the demons.
Talk to Tatiyana again, and she'll send you to Eldergleam Sanctuary to collect some Eldergleam leaves and sacred water, and give you a jug for the water. The leaves and water have markers to find them.
Once you have them, return to Tatiyana. She's at the alchemy table and already has a potion brewing, which she adds the leaves and water to.
She then gives you two potions and two spell tomes to give to two healers in Skyrim: Colette at the College of Winterhold, and Danica in Whiterun Temple of Kynareth. Anduniel will stay behind to study with Tatiyana.
Once you've given out the cure, return and talk to either Anduniel or Taityana (both have markers, either works), to end the quest, and Anduniel will follow again.
Tatiyana can be a follower after this quest is completed.

Two Souls, One Heart
---------------------------
Current status: fully playable and bug-free
Rereqs: Father's Gift, Docks of Solitude, Cures and Demons, play male Elf or Human, Favor at least 20
Locations: Anywhere, once prereqs are completed
A new topic on Anduniel comes up, asking how you can "win her heart." Only 2 of the answers will start the quest, but if you pick the other ones, you can try again.
Now you have to find out what Anduniel likes. Go back to Valla and ask her. You can ask Valla to write a song for Anduniel, and she and Tyrion will do it. Talk to them again after 3 days.
When you return with Anduniel in your party, they will perform the song. Then, if your Favor is at least 50, you can propose.
Requirments to propose:
1) Play a male, any human or elf race
2) Complete "A Father's Gift", "The Docks of Solitude", and "Of Cures and Demons"
3) Achieve a favor level of 50+ (you'll see a message in top left of screen)
Take Anduniel to the Lady Stone to propose. Depending on your current favor level, you'll see either 1 of 2 messages in the top left corner. After she accepts, talk to her again to discuss the wedding. She'll tell you about some Druids where she wants to get married.
At this point you'll get a message that Anduniel will soon leave and change clothes, and you should take back any valuable items you gave her. Once in the Druid grove, you can safely store items in the chest in the crafting shack.
Go to the Druids Grove, near Falkreath. It's near the mill; follow the stream uphill to the marker.
Find the Druid Faralyn (marker), and tell her the good news. She'll tell you to come at noon. This can be noon the same day or noon the next, doesn't matter.
Now Anduniel will leave for the wedding, and you're given a set of wedding clothes, automatically equipped (but your other stuff is safely un-equipped!). Follow the marker to the Wedding Grove.
Here you'll find guests already assembled, and more might come trickling in. 3 Player friends are randomly selected, and several others selected for Anduniel (mostly Bosmer). At noon, you're told to appach the wedding arch, and the ceremony begins.
Valla plays, Dagoth preaches, and then you're asked to take your vows. If you say "No" obviously that fails the quest, and Anduniel will hate you and leave you. Say "Yes", and you're married, given rings, and then everyone proceeds to the reception banquet area, where Valla and Tyrion play some ambiance music.
Once you talk to Anduniel during the reception, the quest finishes and eventually everyone goes home.

Sugar and Scurvy
----------------------
Current status: fully playable, though might have some minor glitches.
NOTE: Malai'a will follow you for most of this quest, so it's advised you complete the whole thing at one time, rather than half-way and go do something else.
Location: Bannered Mare in Whiterun with Anduniel as a follwer. She will talk to the Khajiit.
NOTE: Kharjo the mercenary must be ALIVE for this quest to work, as he is part of it.
After the scene, talk to Malai'a, and she will tell you about her mission: to catch a skooma-dealer from her homeland Elsweyr.
Go to Cragsland Cavern (it's helpful to already be Thane of Riften, to ensure the quest to clear the cave doesn't conflict). In the bar is a note from the Barkeep about a Khajiit who bet and won a lot of gold. Show the note to Malai'a.
Malai'a will suggest Shazz'ra may have gone to a lake or a dock. You have a few choices, but eventually be directed to Windhelm Docks. Follow the marker to the Argonian Blood-In-Gums.
He'll be a little on edge after his encounter with Shazz'ra. Anduniel and Malai'a will talk to him, and afterwords you're given a map.
Follow the next marker to Nilheim Towers where Shazz'ra is hanging out with some of his goons.
When you talk to him, Malai'a wil confront him, and then Shazz'ra directs his goons to attack. Fight them, but you cannot kill them at this time. Talk to Shazz'ra when he is bleeding out (you may have to time it just right). He'll laugh like a maniac and then he and the goons vanish.
Talk to Malai'a, and then Anduniel will mention the mercenary Kharjo and suggest you get his help in tracking down Shazz'ra.
Kharjo will come to you (so you won't have to find him), and say he knows where Shazz'ra is.
Now you're directed to Shazz'ra's ship. Sneak in through the bottom door. Your party will appear with you inside the ship. After a moment, Malai'a and Anduniel will talk a little.
Follow the marker through the ship to find Shazz'ra. Malai'a will confront him again. Now you have to kill him and his goons.
NOTE: Shazz'ra might not teleport to the ship, even though he has the exact same script as the Goons, but instead take his time walking. If you simply Wait 1 hour he should show up and continue the scene.
Once they are dead, Anduniel, Malai'a, and Kharjo will go to the end of the ship with all the moon sugar barrels, and a scene will play. They ask you what you want to do with it, and you have 3 choices.
1) Give it to Ri'saad. Simply follow the marker to Ri'saad and tell him about the moon sugar.
2) Destroy it. A message box will come up, telling you to burn the moon sugar with a fire spell or a torch. After a second of burning, the ship will catch fire, and you have to escape. Once you're on land, the next stage appears.
3) Take all the moon sugar for youself. (Technically you could still loot all the barrels and one of the other choices, nothing stopping you.)
Now you take leave of Malai'a. She'll thank you for your help, and then she will be a Master Pickpocket trainer.
This quest is NOT required for marriage to Anduniel.
Conflicts:
1) There is a vanilla miscellaneous quest at one of the locations, Nilheim: "Telrav's Request"
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Telrav's_Request
Normally this does not cause a problem, but if you do have Telrav in your company and for some reason the quest does not finish (it's bugged in vanilla game), you can use console:
completequest dunNilheimQST
You could also complete this quest before
2) Breezehome Fully Upgraded: The NPC Garath sits in the same chair as Malai'a or Anduniel will sit in for their scene.
Disabling Garath with the console allows the scene to play flawlessly. You can then re-enable Garath.

Anduniel's Meadery
------------------------
Current status: fully playable, some small glitches
Location: Riften, Black-Briar Meadery or Honningbrew Meadery
Anduniel will talk about starting a meadery. Then talk to her about it.
You're given a choice of two markers to check out. Anduniel will prefer the place in Falkreath, on the lake.
She menions a builder in Falkreath who can make anything. Find Patrizia and hire her to build the meadery.
After buying the first set of upgrades, talk to Anduniel, who suggests some things for the outside.
Talk to Patrizia again, and buy the next updgrades. Then talk to Anduniel.
She will say she needs to get ready to perform, and will head toward the new stage. Depending where you are, you can follow her or fast-travel.
When you approach the stage, Anduniel, Valla, and Tyrion will play a tune, and the quest will end when it finishes.
This quest is NOT required for marriage to Anduniel.
Glitch: From the upstairs balconies, you cannot go back into the meadery through that door, you have to jump down to the ground and go in the front or back door. The balcony door markers are there, but for some reason you can't activate them, and I'm still at a loss as to why.
Conflicts:
1) The mod player home "RAMAS UR" (a mushroom house requiring Dragonborn DLC) sort of conflicts with Anduniel's meadery. It will not CTD, but there's a bridge off the shore to the house island that's in the same place as the meadery grounds.
2) The mod "UNDEATH" puts a huge Nord temple smack in the exact same spot as my meadery, along with several interior and exterior things.
3) Village mod "AURORA" puts a whole village in the same location.
4) Any other mod that alters the same cell on the southern shore of Lake Ilinalta.
NO, I will NOT move it. I'm not moving every single hand-placed thing I put there specifically to suit that spot just because of another mod.

The Were and the Way
---------------------------
Current status: fully playable
Location: Whiterun Bannered Mare
Prerequisite: Must have joined the companions (completed the quest in Dead Man's Respite with Farkas)
NOTE: Like Sugar and Scurvy, this quest is designed to finish in one go, no half-way and come back later. Otherwise you may have Anduniel as a wolf talking to people, which is weird.
1) Speak to Hulda and ask if there are any messages. She'll give you a note from Aela.
2) Speak to Aela, who will send you on a typical beast killing mission. Anduniel will greet her.
3) Go to the coast north of Dawnstar. Somewhere n the area of a large abandoned tent a large ice wolf will attack. Kill it, which will set the next stage. Anduniel will mention that in the fight she got bitten, and it might be poisoned.
4) Ask Anduniel about the bite. She expresses concern that it might be a curse, since being Bosmer, she is immune to many poisons. She wants to ask Aela for her insight.
5) Return to Aela and tell her the job was done. This triggers a scene with Aela and Anduniel. She doesn't want to become a werewolf because she is afraid of losing her own mind. Aela gives her a book. Anduniel wants to go back and search for any clues.
6) Go back to the place the wolf attacked. Near the abandoned tent is a note on the ground, containing a cryptic message, or warning. Show it to Anduniel.
7) After Anduniel reads it, the curse takes final effect, and she becomes a wolf. At that moment a Dark Elf rushes over in dispair, claiming she was too late to stop it.
8) In speaking to Shaela, you learn she was supposed to guard this wolf, and that he used to be a man. The curse is reversible, if the person is strong enough. Agree to fetch her a few things: an empty black soul gem, a dragon's tongue flower, a monarch butterfly wing, and a hagraven feather. Once you have them, talk to her again.
9) Shaela will begin a simple ritual at the nearby campfire. Anduniel will run off into the woods and do what wolves do, but Shaela instructs you to stay, because you need to help by supplying memories to pull Anduniel back to her humanity.
10) After a moment Anduniel will return to the campfire and change back, wounded and exhausted. Shaela will take her leave.
11) Speak to Anduniel to finish the quest.
