One last comment to clarify some things, I won't port this mod to Skyrim Special Edition and I won't allow someone to port it either. Bethesda promised us that old mods were compatible with the new Special Edition and I'm not going to fix the compatibility with SE that Bethesda should done in the first place. With real life stuff going on and the release of Fallout 4 being near, I have decided to stop support for my mods on the 10 of November. I will try to answer your questions in the last couple of days, but after this date I won't answer anymore. I hope you can respect my decision.
Yeah, I tried Fallout 4 too.Finally quit after playing it a while after realizing that it was a real chore to sit down and work on it instead of playing Skyrim. This is sad. There NEEDS to be an alternative to the Thieves Guild besides just walking away from it.

I can understand you not wanting to port it, but disallowing others too? Punishing the fans isn't going to do anything to Beth, so I can't say I understand this response. They didn't lie-- Textures, meshes, sound, and all that still work perfectly. Did you honestly think the .esp and .esm files wouldn't need to be updated between a 32-bit and a 64-bit game? I was all for continuing on Oldrim, but a lot of the Oldrim mods are broken now. Besides, one of my favorites moved to SSE only.

This mod didn't seem too difficult to port over to SE. "https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17990?tab=description" gives great instructions (and links to the tools to do it) that even I could follow, Cenncroithi gives great instructions too, just below. It doesn't seem to work too well with Outlaws and Revolutionaries by Thuggysmurf though, which I've had installed for a while, but that also mods the TG heavily. I'll test this on a new playthrough sometime without Outlaws and Revs installed.
Except SE doesn't crash every 15 minutes, I thought the same, because of the really bad first few months of SE, but finally made the switch 2 weeks ago, 328 mods, only ctd I had were launch ctd while setting up load order, so ye, that about oldrim being better, debatable
I'm not interested in walking away from the theives guild. I want to dice the mother f***ers. They are, without exception, the dumbest and most corny of quests lines, and the most irritating characters. Brynjolf in particular needs to be drawn and quartered for the level of irritation he inflicts. I don't even talk to him in the main quest line, just head straight down the Rat Way.

I would have to agree with KaneRonnie to some extent. I played SSE for 2 or 3 years and loved it, almost instant load screens when going from one cell to another, no bugs that I could tell ( except for the hours you could spend following Maro's son to kill him in a major hold city like Markarth for the brotherhood quest). But as time went on and they kept patching it, worse bugs appeared. Two come to mind and were constant happened every time that I would do the quest lines. One - thieve's guild when going to become nightingale Karliah would always walk away instead of pulling the chain, Two - when going to the soul cairn to see Serana's mom , Serana would always walk away instead of giving a drop of her blood. I know it wasn't caused by mods because I had none that touched anything having to do with either one of the quests or people. It also wasn't too mod load because the most that I've ever had installed at one time is somewhere in the 80's. So I came back to Skyrim LE. and it has run great , no bugs that I can tell (except commander Maro's son of course. Even that isn't as bad as it is in SE I only have to fast travel to the next city he should be in a couple of times before I can look at the Map and see his marker coming toward me, and almost instant load times. My thought on SSE and fallout 4 is that Bethesda most likely patched them to death overloading their game engine or something along those line. Fallout four ran great for me until sometime after they shoved all of that creation club shite down our throats. I played FO4 for quite sometime with only one bug and that was the Dima bug where you couldn't get through his memories. Eventually the Emogene bug showed up and became pretty much a constant. I noticed the similarity to the Dima bug and tried something. I disabled the coast (far harbour) after that when I start a new game Emogene is almost always where she is supposed to be. I think I had 15 or so playthroughs after that, and only once did go to get her and she wasn't there. Now I disable all of the DLC's Except workshop 1,2, &3. That fixed the bug issue but didn't do anything the long load times that came to being at about the same time as the Emogene bug.
So far so good this mod works well for me (especially the scripts when destroying the thieves). The only problem I have is I can't find the note on the table/cabinet to exiling Maven, the quest to return the skeleton key, and the main quest which stuck me from the cornered quest. So yeah I need help on how to fix this hehe
you need to set it in the config menu, the note is not there by default as you could end up with the situation of no Jarl depending on the side you picked for the civil war.
Doesn't work, I can kill brynyolf and his quest (a chance arrangement) fails. But then when i go to mjoll there is no option to say ive killed him and no new quests have started. If i try to kill the other members of the guild they are still essential.
I got the sword. I can make her a follower, or kill brynyolf. And then talk to her. And nothing happens. I know the mod is active bc i can kill the dude. But the chat doesnt appear
Ok, i had to put a fix. And it worked. But it seems my dirge is bugged or something, si ce it wont die. I used anothrr mod to kill him, but now the quest wont say i killed everyone in the ragged flaggon
To all SE players. Go and learn how to port. I have a potato pc and so i use LE, i have backpprted like 5 mods by now. Its not hard at all. I mean i got one script for xedit that changed esps to LE abd you need catherdral assets to change some meshes. And that's it. Not that hard. I hope this helps a little.
wait so legendary edition is better for people with potato's? i just got anniversary edition and in the middle of modding my laptop after doing a vanilla play through
Sorry for late reply, but i never get the notifications. Legendary edition is original skyrim. It looks better modded, because the enbs dont have to fight with the game's effects that are lower quality. The same as fallout 4 godrays that are kind of meh. But thing is, its a 32 bit game with a 4gb ram limit. It has lower quality textures than SE, no godrays and it runs way way faster. If you patch it right it wont crash that much. Now, if you have tons of mods it does crash some times put of lack of resources, but i have tested and most crashes are bc of conflict between mods. Anniversary edition is the latest version of SE. with online updates. Which in itself has another set of issues. You have a modded setup, and gets updated and then you lose all your modded setup.
So in the end i think modding LE is more rewerding.you do have a limit of 255 esps, so after that you need to learn tomerge. But to be honest. I have i think, most of the large questmods. Tons of textures, ai mods for fighting, for npcs, armors, followers perk, etc. And i still have 213 esps on.
For anniversary you need one skse and a version related to anniversary of some mods.
Or you can downgrade and get version 1.5.something of SE, for some other mods.

It has its learning curve, but to me the advabtages outweight the dissadvantages. It is buggy, it crashes. Sometimes a lot. But to be honest, its mostly after modding. But again. Vecause of conflucting mods most of the times. Or dirty mods like rigmor mods for example. If you have a laptop with no gpu, then LE will run better. Just try no to get 2k textures or you game will be crashing at all times. And use enb enboost. Without effects, if you don't have the specs for it.
And lastly. Almost all the mods are backported. Maybe not those darkspulslike combat ones. But i disñike those ganes and their horrid combat and i pmay 1st person so i dont really care.
Tldr. Choose whatever version you like, both are going to have a learning curve, but LE, albeith more prone to crashes, uses less resources. AND, enbs WILL suck performance. But it can be tweaked and there ar esome light enbs too.

Hello Just finished this , destroy the thieves guild, killed maven with the help of everyone in the keep , ( that was soo funny to watch ) picked up the skeleton key spoke with karliah myself and doubles killed her too so I got a full set of nightingale gear and sword and key, but still still stuck with misc quest in log to warn mjoll about the instant on life from reading maven's draft letter there's no option showing on mjoll to tell her ? Does anyone know what quest stage command to use for that .... That's the only minor issue with this, is the misc to mjoll is stuck on quest log , because they re's no speech option to forward it on
And this time around again, I've still got it stuck in quest log , .. I've been back several times at different times, and no dialogue, and as I don't use , going to see if i can get hide your quests mod to just put it out of sight ? Mjoll's sister still gets enable but no dialogue other than Hmmm, yes ..

NO, I never found that in any searches, but heck thanks for that, maven turned hostile inside the inn and was killed her son or nephew, mustve also turned hostile outside the inn and was killed by other riften residence's xD But I'm still going to try that console command to se if it works, and will keep that some where for my next playthru, ....
Edit -- Wow that worked like charm, soon and I did it, I was partnered up with mjoll,. she came running upto me, and telling about maven plan to kill her was completed, then it was just a matter of telling mjoll " time to part ways" ... Kudos to you elana Delving Mallory still shows up and valentine still say hmm, I haven't picked up and stones yet but might need to to for the museum mod ..
Sorry to resurrect a 3 yr old post !! But its has to do with the same thing, I was actually given the quest reward to enable this and the odaving reference thing disable , but upon sneaking back in find the note, but crashing upon trying to save, will make sure I'm away from riften when I try n save then go back thru gates later n confront her with the letter... But I don't like having a high speech for anyone, using the command again as neither mjoll or her sister have the voice options and the command puts mjoll right behind as a follower but even confronting her without the high speech still failed , I could use perk command then take it away after...( I think having the note in my inventory , just might just be a small partial cause to crashing each time o.O ? ) I rolled back save to where I report to mjoll about killing them all, n get stuck with find evidence about maven in my quest log, so I'm just crashing too many time trying to do this , I've killed all thieves guild n doing the mercer frey's house side of thing but as far a maven and the note, I'm going to do it my own personal way , either long after odaving or without the note n take satisfaction its all finished with n leave riften a while n go to other cities, n get one with things, n get on with legacy things as well .... I hate the fact that killing all of them isn't part of the game. Somehow I hate the Thieves Guild more than the Dark Brotherhood, but at least by the end of the Dark Brotherhood questline, almost everyone is dead.
Doesn't seem to work. Brynjolf can be killed just fine, but the quest does not start. Yes, I have downloaded the "fix" - it does not help.
I'd hope that someone else makes a mod like this, but people have seemingly moved on from Oldrim to SSE, which is a shame. (My 2 favorite custom races have very, very good tail physics. The physics system that Bethesda lost the license to use between versions.)
Despite not really liking SSE personally, I find it baffling for an author to specifically prohibit people from porting it. Just seems like being an ass for zero reason.
i like the concept of this mod as being forced top join the thieves guild was never something i wanted to do nor be forced to serve Nocturnal but the glaring flaw in this mod is the fact that you cant expose Mavin and have her awnser for her crimes.
if there was a way to make it so you find evidence of her involvement with the thieves guild and other "dark secrets" in her manor (keeping and selling Argonian slaves/ producing and selling skooma and sleeping tree sap/ hist sap plus proving she only has a single "contact" in the imperial city aka a single lowly merchant NOT the "huge connections" she claims to have then that would make this mod better. killing Sive in his jail cell would also be a good idea as well as "framing" her daughter as a potential hag raven would also be things for future updates
I found that this plugin can;t be completed as half the Thieves are Essential. However, a possible solution is lockup the Quest related Essentials and kill the rest. Indeed, killing off the non-essentials first can have the Quest Actor surrender. Unfortunately, Bruce took a hike one year ago. Indeed, you really need this or Disband, Brynolf is the only surface actor. I used FISS to set him non-essential, Frenzy and Foolhardy and let nature take its course. I used CK to all locks to open with the the Secret key.
