ok i`ve being looking a way to replace the vampire royal hood for some other better looking hood, but i cant find the directory where it is installed,... i use the FO3 archive utility but when i go to my skyrim directory i cant find the path it shows as the one where it should be installed. where to this mod goes.
Hey there! It's me again. Just a quick question -- I notice you've made changes to the PlayerVampireQuest script; what are they, if you don't mind telling?
Hello there! For the most part, I made the game to check whether the player has the reduced version of Sun Damage when they advance in vampirism, and add the appropriate version of Sun Damage to the player, while removing the older one. I have also incorporated the changes from Unofficial Skyrim Patch and Unofficial Dawnguard Patch (for Dawnguard version) so I won't undo the fixes. For the disguise feature, I just made all faction neutral to the player if the player is detected with the hood on. I can put the sources together and throw the archive up here for your viewing pleasure, if you like.
Lovely mod; looking forward to trying it out on my next vampire character playthrough. Thanks a bunch for making it compatible with USKP as well. I do suggest making some patches for Belua Sanguinaire and Better Vampires! The only reason I don't use those is because I already have almost too many script-intensive mods and I don't think my hard drive could handle any more, but on behalf of everyone who is... I think it would be a really nice little addition to those big mods. Another suggestion - the crafting recipe is nice (and makes a lot more sense than the way some people have done it), but maybe instead you should place it somewhere in the world.... like the Soul Cairn, near Valerica's alchemy table, where you can pick it up once you get the barrier down. It helps vampires enough that it should be harder to get ahold of. I mean, Serana is the only other vampire that has one.
Thank you for your feedback! I thought about doing a compatibility patch for those two mods, but they both have their own ways of going around sun damage, and to tell the truth, it is a little more than I can handle as my skill is still not as good as I want it to be. So there will not be anything that works with those two mod for a (long) while. Soul Cairn! Why haven't I thought about that? It'll make a perfect home for Dawnguard version!
All right! Looking forward to an update c: I also totally hear you on BSR/BV compatibility; I'm a noob at scripting, myself, and scripting for the game can be so frustrating. You can spend hours writing scripts and accomplish very little in the long run :s
Oh, and kudos for the Vanilla version that hides your vampirism from NPCs. Tbh I kind of wish Dawnguard didn't revoke that not-so-little nuance. It made playing as a vampire much more like a 'way of life' instead of just a facial makeover and some new abilities xD
A good 'home' for the Vanilla version might be one or two of the vampire dens located around Skyrim. I did a quick Google search... those locations are Broken Fang Cave, Bloodlet Throne, Cronvangr Cave, Fellglow Keep, Half-Moon Mill (this one makes especial sense, because Hern and Hert interact with mortals from time to time), Haemar's Shame, Mara's Eye Pond, Movarth's Lair (this one would also make sense, since Movarth had to walk among mortals to get to Alva and seduce her), Pinemoon Cave, Shriekwind Bastion, and Potema's Catacombs. I hope that helps! xD Good luck
Khrada, Are you able to make it harder for NPCs to identify a vampire as long as the vampire is wearing this hood? Of course, if you interact with NPCs they could maybe see your fangs or eyes but on a distance a hood should mask most vampire traits. May look suspicious, so if possible you could also make guards investigate if they see you at closer ranges.
It would be an interesting idea to work on, but I failed to see the point since people in Skyrim are quite tolerant to vampires (or pale-looking people) in general. Unless you are referring to the hostility that came with the final stage of vampirism? If that is the case, I will explore ways to fool them into not attacking you. Do expect this to be taken care of in a month or two. As for the guards, it might be more complicated, and I don't think you would like to get attacked by the guards when you entered the city, but I will also look into it. No guarantee on this one, though.
Yes, I do mean the hostility that come with the final stage of vampirism. One would think that a hood would be able to shade a pale-looking face (at least half of it) and/or a vampire's eyes, much like how the Emperor wears his in Star Wars. And with that look should come suspicion, but not instant hostility.
Thank you for the reply and your interest in my suggestion.
@AncientVampire brackets are these [ ], that'll do the trick I guess I should have made it clear on the description that this is for more vanilla-oriented playings.
@AncientVampire url= ended with /url (you'll need brackets for them) with whatever you want the text on the link should do the trick.
The vanilla sun damage isn't changed, I only added the reduced version for the hood to make the switch. From what I have gathered, Belua Sanguinare is way too complicated for me to do any about it. I need to look into Vampiric Thirst more. I might shoot a message to the author of Better Vampires and see if I can gain some insights from him since it looks like the most workable one regarding my abilities.
EDIT: I looked at Better Vampire's page more carefully this time. The author stated on his description that sun damage is optional. So why bother? With one down, I'll take a look at how Vampiric Thirst's sun damage is handled.
EDIT2: Well, that was quick. I have concluded that since Vampiric Thirst's sun damage is based on many factors: How well-fed you are, the time of the day, weather, and shadow all plays a part in it. Since being well-fed keeps you strong and healthy AND reduce damage from sunlight, I don't see a point of using my mod. Those 3 mods are way superior than this mod here. Long story short: I'm happy with how they handle their sun damage, I'm not going to do anything that changes it.
sorry for this kinda long message but its a heads up for your next update someone asked me on my mod about compatibility with Better Vampires, Vampiric Thirst and Belua Sanguinare my mod wasnt compatible with them so i came back to your mod to test the lite version you made to see if it was compatible with those 3 and its not since our mods edit the vanilla behaviors of sunlight damage when we put the hood on. There mods however have a different behavior so the only way we can make our mods compatible with those overhauls is by making 3 more versions one for each of those mods and im here to help figured we could work together =]
