I'm not sure if you you still read these but I just picked this up as a replacement of another More-Bolts mod. Loving the mod so far.
My only complaint is the obvious one: the bolts look like arrows. I know enough about modelling that 'just make some more meshes' isn't a reasonable expectation, but I was curious and hoping I could ask something (because you made is mod, and therefore obviously know more about it then I do.) What would be the result if you slapped the arrow textures onto the bolt meshes? I mean, yeah, it would look like crap, because of the missmatch, but would the the different bolts be visually distinct?
Love your mod, but would like to retain the same bolt size for the newly introduced bolts in this mod if possible, somehow shooting arrow sized projectiles from a crossbow doesn't seem right to me
I like your idea. I already redid it completely and fixed all the bugs. I thought about enchanted bolts but never got around to it. I will do a separate version with gravity but not as much as vanilla, maybe half.
@digitalmax: This looks cool! You say you're planning on redoing this? If so, could you offer a version with the 'gravity effect' set back to normal-vanilla to provide a normal ballistic arc to the bolt's flight, if you please?
Personally, I like a realistic challenge when practicing long-range stealth-sniping, going for the famous "One-shot-one-kill". Cheers!
Edit: I just explored the wickedly-cool Soul Cairn and throughly enjoyed it's desolate beauty, and it gave me a wild idea: what about some kind of balanced but unusually powerful "special-elemental-destruction" soultrap-enchanted bolts that can only be crafted with rare soul husks instead of the more usual and abundant soul gems, along with whichever elemental salts may be needed? This would be feasable ONLY if those soul husks respawn, though..... Just a thought.....
Was it working for you? From what I understood it only pinned people to walls if it did a decapitation and bows never decapitate. If it worked for people I will put it back on in the next update.
I am going to completely redo this mod. I went back to the basics and created something nice, not OP but still nice. The new version will have Iron, Steel, Elven, Orcish, Glass, Ebony, Dwarven, Daedric, Dragon, and Bound bolts. Each will have there own crafting recipe and ability to convert normal arrows into bolts. Regular Crossbows will be able to be crafted at the start without any perks in smithing, however the enhanced versions you still need to do the quests to make. Dwarven Crossbows need the Dwarven Smithing to make.
All bolts will do the same damage as the equivalent arrow. Spectral bolts aka "Bound Arrow" will be the best and will require a filled Black Soul Gem to craft. As well as all this I am still removing gravity and increasing the speed of the bolts to bring it up to a more realistic setting.
Version 2 is done and uploaded, be sure to get this one because it is alot better then the last one.
Another problem with vanilla as you say is there is only 2 bolts available not including the enchanted versions. If you want next version I will change the bolt damage to a more appealing value. I made the bolt damage high because bolts from a crossbow pack a higher punch then an arrow shot from a bow.
