"CTD" means "Crash to Desktop", which has been my experience too once I'd paid my third visit to the Greybeards. I was also forced to uninstall, with the same result: the Arcanaeum won't open, and there's a queue of people at the door.
I realize a lot of work went into this and a lot of it works well, but my game is stuffed up and I would really appreciate it if you patched this issue, as you did previous issues. Unlike freemonkey I'm not clever enough to write the patch myself. Hope you can do this before you concentrate on the new mod.
when you take the sword to the college library where the Orc is and the mages cast spells at it, is the sword destroyed for good? I can't find it at all after I fought Umbriel. I can't find the sword.
@wverdin - I had a similar problem, instant CTD. Additionally, removing this mod leaves problems behind. Particularly adding a script to doors in Winterhold college causing them to become unusable. So, to save yourself some trouble back track to before you installed this mod. Otherwise just start over.
Edit: To be specific, the doors leading to the Arcanaeum have scripts added that use the function BlockActivation, requiring that you never remove this mod or you cannot get into the Arcanaeum ever again. A mod uninstall function with a call to BlockActivation(false), should fix this, or possibly, wait the 30 days (in game), though I'm unsure of this.
Edit2: I was able to make a patch calling BlockActivation(false) in a script on activate and attached it to the doors, fixing the problem.
I agree with the others, very good quest line and definitely a tough fight at the end. tougher than supposed 'god characters' like lilith the demonic vampire. anyways, after completing the quest and exiting the game, can't get back into save file as it CTDs during loading. The quest corrupts the save or kills papyrus or something.
First off, Great Mod and good storyline. However, is still very buggy. Had to use console to get past Riverwood where I was supposed to follow Umbra. Then when I stopped the game had to start over as kept getting CTDs. Finally started and used console where needed to get to Umbra's tomb. Fought and killed Umbra and when I go to the Greybeards it will not give me an option to remove curse from Umbra. Also Umbra's Wrath quest doesn't show up on console so could not set it ahead.Actually I saved before I killed Umbra so I could compare which way I wanted to go. Unfortunately it would not let me do that as it was CTDs all the way to the beginning. Deactivated mod and previous save loads fine. I am running 95+ mods and loading each one with NMM and run BOSS after each one. May not be the best way but so far have not had any problem. Don't know if this mod is still supported, but would be willing to have another go at it if the author gets it fixed.
you're not the only one having this issue. I'm trying to figure out if it's other mods or if it's this specific one. I've got around 165 mods and same deal.
Thanks for your prompt reply, Debdut. The CTDs may of course be caused by mod conflicts, as it seems others have played through without issue.

Freemonkey92 put one on the forum here http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/843647-the-college-of-winterhold-arcanaeum-door-problem/ but I really don't feel confident applying patches myself, as not being a coder I wouldn't know what I was doing. I think this is down to the developer.
FYI I get the CTD as well. I was playing through fine, no problems. I had completed the discussed cutscene at Prisoner's Barrow, I had spoken to the Graybeards again and was on my way to find Umbra again when I saved and exited to go to bed (I know, I'm not a true gamer, I still need sleep). Every time I load my save after that, the game crashes before loading. If I disable Umbra, everything loads fine. I've tried changing load order or disabling other mods to no avail. I'm rather convinced that this is not a compatibility issue.
I am running the unofficial patches, which are the only mods with scripts that I did not disable when troubleshooting Umbra. I'm really disappointed that I can't finish the quest, and now I'm super concerned about this locked door bug.
I get CTD too. After I finished the quest and defeated Umbra, I made her my follower, then I put my computer to sleep mode to go to sleep myself. When I booted up my computer Skyrim crasher (not because of this mod), when I launched Skyrim and tryed to load a save, I got CTD while loading. When I disable this mod everything's fine. I run 58 mods (incloding Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn etc.) without patches. I enjoyed playing through this mod and I am quite disapointed that I won't be able to play around with it some more. Great mod otherwise, I endorced (sorry, my English is not perfect, I'm latvian)
Fantastic story line! Greatly enjoyed this one. Unfortunately, after defeating her (after 7 tries) my game crashed after exiting her dungeon. I had to delete after trying to start the game several times. However, I still say "Good job"!!!
