Question how do i do a player home? i really wanna do one by my own but i can't find out how is there any videos on youtube that shows how to make a Player Home?
@Sirragrim I never did find a way to fix this issue since I believe it is a skyrim bug, though I did go and swap out my bookshelves for the ones in this Link its a modders resource that makes putting these things together really easy.
So far, after using these in my game, I haven't lost any books(though I did do a completely fresh install of my home to use these, which may indicate that the book eating shelves can be related to save games).
Although when removing them by clicking on them individually instead of accessing the bookshelf container, the bookshelf won't update the number of available book slots, thus reducing how many books you can have on the shelf.
I am building a player home as well but have run into the book-eating bookshelves. Was wondering how you fixed this issue, if at all? (Thought i was the only one there for a while!) Any advice would be a great help. Thanks in advance!
Sorry bout the quick hide there with V1.4, loaded my save and went to use the new shelves and they didn't work. So I freaked out and hid the mod a moment to find out the problem. Turns out that I saved while in the home and I think that is what caused the issue, so to get the shelves to work should hitting E not open it for you; simply walk outside, wait a few hours and then go back inside, this worked for me so I hope it helps those that run into the same thing.
I was hoping the hint would be enough, but I suppose it may be a little too vague. So here is another one that will bring you closer: The three standing stones will have you close and your compass will show you from there. (so keep an eye on your compass when at the standing stones)
I watched most of the Bethesda tutorial videos for setting up their dungeon and such, as making a home is essentially the same thing. Except of course instead of caves or ruins you may go with pretty much anything you like.
Those vids will give a good grasp on creating an interior cell and how to connect it to the outside world. I used a handful of youtube videos for creating mannequins, display racks, bookshelves. But I was shown a modders resource just two days ago that makes those sooooo much easier to put into a home, so here is the link: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11618. Thanks to dr4cos for showing me this link.
It will be a lot of trial and error and many hours (if you have never done anything with the constriction kit) But that is what I did to get myself started on this. Hope it helps!
**Edit** So to answer your question, yes there are plenty of youtube videos out there that can help get you started.
Simple as in the overall layout isn't designed like some of the other homes I have run into, which tend to be nearly the size of a keep. But when you compare it to the default homes you can get in the base game, it is more than simple. I'm not sure if I can/want to change the title now, but I do thank you for the comment. So its "simple-ish" hehe
