abot's "Fires Hurt" mod now appears to cover the steam rising from Geysers - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/28202.

I haven't had the chance to test it in game yet, but it may be worth checking out - the CK keeps crashing on me in the worldspace window, and abot's method of adding damage is probably a better way to go about it.

      Thank you for making this.
The "Old Version" is definitely the more immersive version imo. Especially after reading those horrible stories of people jumping in to Yellowstone hot springs in an attempt to save their dogs.

I've also tested the "Fires Hurt" mod, and it doesn't work very well since you need to stand in the actual steam itself for seconds before anything happens.

Great Mod, I always thought it odd that the volcanic pools didn't cause any damage. I like the .5 version, but used TES5Edit to change the damage from 2 to 25. Thanks jackstarr!

BOSS reported to me that this mod has dirty edits. I will have to clean them myself with TES5Edit (http://www.creationkit.com/TES5Edit_Cleaning_Guide_-_TES5Edit), but I am not experienced at this sort of thing.

It would be best if the mod author (the person who knows the mod best) cleaned the files as soon as possible, so we can fully enjoy the mod.

Just a friendly alert. Thank you!

The offending file was: Hot Volcanic Water.esp Active
Contains dirty edits: 6 ITM, 0 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning.

It actually looks like my attempt to clean it "broke" the file...meaning those "dirty" edits might have been necessary for it to work? In which case, maybe it shouldn't be cleaned, but rather, left alone. I'll report my findings to BOSS, though I'm not totally sure as I am not super experienced with these tools.

Well, I obviously missed the March deadline I set myself for an update

I'm working on an update to another of my mods at the moment, but at least I'm now back in the modding frame of mind...so hopefully it won't be too long before I get back to this. The half-finished state of the mod has been bugging me in my own game too.

I can't get the new version BETA 0.6 to work?, have it last in my load order and still no water is HOT?
The old one is working just fine.

The beta version adds very specific damage to the geysers themselves rather than blanket damage from all the water - the beta version does damage when you get close to the actual spouts (it presumes that the water is hot but tolerable, but the steaming geysers themselves would do damage) - but I've only added this to about a quarter of them as it's still a work-in-progress...so maybe you're just in the wrong area of the springs to take damage...

I've discovered that the way I created the mod was quite an inefficient way of doing so - I've done some tests and the next version will be much more performance-friendly. Expect an update (more a complete rewrite) at the end of this month.

    @ceano -
Thanks for the prompt - I'm not giving up, just on a break from this while I work on other mods...but am planning to finish this when I have lots of free time coming up in March.

Managed to find some time this evening to update, and just spent the last hour adding the damage trigger to a load more of the geysers, only to have the CK do a CTD on me while saving (and not for the first time either)...so all progress lost. Hopefully I won't get too downhearted and can find some time another day soon.

It is a great idea, and also a happy coincidence that despite this mod still a couple of places are not recognized by the game as volcanic - since most yet not all hot springs are boiling in nature.

Heh, nope I haven't included a readme, and neglected to make a list of which geysers are affected. From memory, all geysers in the pool with the hunters are affected, as are the closest pools directly to the left and right of that area. Pools further to the right of that one have sporadic editing.

For the purpose of testing, if you go to the pool with the hunters, that should give you an idea of implementation - how close you need to be, how much damage is done, etc.

Sounds like it's an absolute pain in the backside to implement, but a much better method.

I haven't downloaded yet - is there an included readme with a list advising which geysers you have modified?

If not, could you post it here please? It'll make testing a lot more effective if we don't have to wander around trying to find the right geysers first!

Ok, it's a pain to add each trigger individually, particularly considering the number of other boxes getting in the way in the CK - I don't want to inadvertantly make any dirty edits! I've added damage to about a quarter of the geysers, tested the ones I've made so far myself, but want to release what I've done so far to make sure people are happy with the implementation of triggers in-game before I continue the rest. This latest release is a beta - so please let me know how you get on with the new damage implementation - and if all is ok I'll continue with the rest of the geysers.
