Just drop the BSA and Dovahkriid - Grenzganger ESP in your Skyrim/Data folder
and start the game.

How to play with companions?

You will have a better game if you follow these few rules - even if it is not DoG
related and applies as well for any other follower:


- sheath your weapon if you don't need it right away (it resets the AI for better path finding)
- play in a group if you lead a group (go together)
- fight with your head (you mark the first target for your companions - now proceed to the second)
- wait one hour if your companions are lost (press "T")
- use the bloodseal once in a while (for level up or resurrect your companions)
be aware that all companions will level up at once
- sometimes fast-travel or location change helps with odd behaviour (it resets AI)



You will maybe need some time to get used to this play, but if you do, you will
have the maximum outcome of your companions.

What companions can do:

Your companions have dialog-options you will know from the original game,
and some are new:

- Appearance

Here you can choose between different outfits, based on the character
of your companion or your progress in game.
The option "Let me show you" will give you the possibility dressing
a companion yourself.

- Here take this

Opens the inventory of your companion - if you want to take out your custom
outfit from a companion before switching back to her/his standard outfits you
should press this dialog-option first!

- Let's share our loot

This is your loot-bag and independent from the inventory of your companion.
If you want to store your "loot" it should go into the "loot-bag".

- Disguise

Leave a thief in disguise back (wait), maybe she/he finds something useful.

- Get your horse

This will bring up your companion's horse. To let her/him mount just ride close to
the companion's horse and they will mount.

Is Dovahkriid - Grenzganger compatible with...

In general - it is compatible with ANY mod that does not change directly
the targeted cells in Falkreath (-Hold) or using the SciptedEvent in the
story-manager.


Why is Dovahkriid - Grenzganger compatible with other follower mods?

Because it uses its own follower-system, that is not based on the original/vanilla
game system. In other words: The DoG-Companions are not known to the game or any other
mod as companions. For them these are ordinary NPCs.

I encountered a problem, with the dialogs ...


... I can see a dialog-menu but if I click it nothing happens?

Use Quickave and Quickload and the dialog will run as intended.


... I have lines and am able to click them but the voices are not playing, no
matter if I load the DoG on its own or with other mods and the BSA is in the
correct folder?

We encountered that problem with other voice-acted mods during beta-testing,
but never with the Dovahkriid-Grenzganger mod and that's why we have no real explanation
for that. We do not even know if the problem will show up with the DoG, but if you
encounter that it seems to be game-related and we do not have a fix for this so far.
If you found one - let's hear it.

-- Companions --

I want to find all companions on my first play-through!

Four you will encounter more or less straight forward. Three you have to encounter on your own.

Fight for some, till their quests are completed, do not mind if they vanish first (fade away), you will
have access to them later.
But be careful, everyone who is lost is lost.

I did not find all... and now?

Go back and look around again. They are waiting for you till you start their quests.

I am stuck in the quest because...

... I don't find the trader!

Look at the lumber-mill in Falkreath, there should be a new house. If there is no new house,
you might have done something wrong on install. If there is no house it does mean the mod
is not active.

... I don't understand the book.

First paragraph. What is the element of life? "Earth is life?"? "Wind is life?" "Fire is life"?
Now you should know what you are looking for.

...I understand what I am looking for, but why "deer, steed and bear"?

Ever looked on your map? Maybe you find some clues there.

... I am there... and... now?

Are you the master? No. Are you the seeker? No. You are a thief. Right.
No what does the thief?

... I know I am the thief, but there is no "hmhm" to flirt!

There is no gargoyle or lion or other guardian statue? Then maybe you have to take
what you find. Look down.

... I made it in! But... which way to take?

Look on your map how that place is called. (Mages know that ven means wind).
Do you find in the book a passage about "wind" or "ven"? If you found that, it tells
you which way to go and which to spare.

... Yes, I know that, but I can't get through!

Because you need something... Sometimes they hide tombs so that thieves
do not plunder them. So you are looking for a hidden tomb that is likely in the
"tomb-section".


... I made it to the Nonvul Golz and now?

Now fill your heart with the tears of Talos.
