    ANNOUNCEMENT:
If you like Character Creation Overhaul, check out my newest mod: Scarcity. If you use weapons/armor/creature mods you will need Scarcity because the more weapons/armor/creature mods you use the more unbalanced Skyrim's economy becomes. Scarcity fixes Skyrim’s broken economy and makes finding rare items rewarding again; it reduces ALL types of loot, even mod-added loot, so that there are less weapons and armor lying around, potions and gems are scarcer, and finding enchanted items is a genuine treasure--as it should be.

    Download Scarcity here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49496/?

    ANNOUCEMENT (originally from December 2013):

I was working on Character Creation Overhaul v1.4.0, but due to lack of time I abandoned completing it. 1.4.0 features a new, balanced, Major/Minor skill system a la Morrowind (as opposed to only having Major Skills) and in my humble opinion is far more fun to play. The Major/Minor skill system is completely functional, but I've been keeping it selfishly to myself because it also includes an incomplete "Optional Traits" features.

If there is interest I will upload Character Creation Overhaul 1.4.0 BETA, with the caveat that the "Optional Traits" feature is INCOMPLETE and NON-FUNCTIONAL. That means if you use it you should SKIP the last screen that asks you for Optional Traits. Agreed?

Version 1.4.0 BETA is now available on the Files page under "Updates".
You can now pick 3 Major Skills and 3 Minor Skills. Major Skills give +20 bonus and +20% Skill Rate Increase (if Dynamic Skill Progression is enabled). Minor Skills give +10 bonus and +10% Skill Rate Increase (with DSP).

Wish the traits worked, too bad this is dead,
    Otherwise it's great!

It's certainly not dead... if it were it wouldn't work at all.
As for the traits, well that never worked, it was a design feature that was never realised (as stated in the sticky above) but it hasn't stopped 400k unique downloads.
So, No, it's not dead and still works, and even though it's not supported now it can still bring unique elements to your game.

Sorry to ask, but does this mod no longer work? I'm not sure because I can't install or activate the Esp files. I figured I may have been doing something wrong.

If it doesn't work, does anyone know of a similar mod that works with Skyrim together reborn? Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and ask.... Are you trying to use this (32 bit) mod on the (64bit) SSE/AE/VR versions of the game?

I thought 32 can run on 64 bit, just not vice versa.

The right tool for the right job,
The Mod is available for both 32 and 64 versions of the game... why choose to mess with it?

I have Skyrim Special Edition and this mod DOES NOT WORK with it. When I add this mod the game DOESN'T even START. Double check everything as far as compatibility before you tell people that it's compatible with basically EVERYTHING.

I think that Nexus could help by displaying a pop-up in the center of the screen when a new user selects Skyrim, stating that it is for "Oldrim and LE only" this would guide them away from the now all too regular mistakes of downloading mods for the wrong version of the game and complaining that it doesn't work...
Are you listening Nexus? it will also ease up on mass downloads generating misleading figures when a user has to dump what he or she has downloaded... unless Nexus wants those inflated figures.

I wonder if this mod is compatible with the mod "RACISM - Racial Adjustments Concerning Imbalanced Skyrim Mechanics": https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52071/

If it is compatible, someone please let me know.

I would assume so RACISM reccomends you pair it with this.

I wish there was a standalone download for the 'A new beginning' book in this mod: I use 'Classis classes and birthsigns' now, which is much closer to the original (Daggerfall/Morrowind-era) class system, and I desperately want something like it.

Love this mod! I tried to go mage for the first time and found myself reverting back to my bow and dagger strategy. Is it possible for me to reset what I originally chose (like changing my class selections and such)? I tried the new beginning book but it ended up being blank. Is there a possible console command? Thanks!

Got to this comment a year or two late now, but the answer to this problem is because skill leveling is capped by level with the mod experience. I.E. if you are a low level, you cannot level skills past that threshold till you level your character up further.
