Now there are five version's to choose from - start with the 20 damage version in a new game, and later, reaching higher level enemies, switch to higher damage version. These are exactly the same as the "old" version, except stated bow damage and file names. Remove old version and keep only one version installed.
@Edg3k: I'm not sure what you mean by overkill, but I suppose it's about balancing difficulty and may seem the bow has too high damage early on. That may be right; I made this mod when I was at level 50+ and had a sword with a damage of ~250, and the game is at highest difficulty level - and I find it balanced. But may not be if you are at start and play on normal or easy, so I will add later today 5 versions with 20, 40, 60, 80 and the currently 100 bow damage versions. Oh, and this should be for your follower only - if you play as an archer and use a bow like this, that may not be balanced, but considering AI stupidity into equation, it's another matter - they can use a little boost to appear useful. About respawning: it is frustrating, that's why I made this. Now it's no longer a problem as long as you are content with this replacer (because they will respawn this bow) and with the fact that your follower switched to using a bow - and if you want them to not use bow, it's not enough a mod wich allows you to remove their bows, you also need a mod - like Extensible Follower Framework, see on description page - which allows you to change their preferred fighting style too, making them to prefer two-handed swords, or prefer using bow - otherwise they will pick up a preferred weapon and fight with something you may not want. I like to make my follower archer because this way they don't get into my way and also they can shoot back to enemies up above, in places which can't be reached easily. That's while I use an one handed katana (without using shield), and my follower has the same ~250 damage katana, and she automatically switches to that, when enemies get too close to her.
Good idea but maybe overkill especially early on. I have a mod that lets me remove the bow but the follower automatically respawns them every so often which is frustrating as hell. And even when you give him a better bow he'll refuse to equip it. Ive yet to see a 100% working fix for this. Ive even gotten to the point where I replaced the hunting bow in inventories with better bows but they ALWAYS spawn a bloody hunting bow or dont equip the only one they have because its not a hunting bow. Ive seen Aela run into combat with a dagger because she refused to equip the elven bow I gave her. Go figure.
@Jeancly: I never heard of Claymore before, so I read about in wikipedia now. I don't know, maybe I like more Azumi, but I ended up playing this unintenionally. First I created a nord male - but that was last year, Skyrim just came out and no mods - so his face was ... no emotions, young but looking old, frightening in a bad sense. I finished the main quest end put the game away. Since then Skyrim improved very much with mods, but I still can't create a male character. So I ended up playing with females - it's a little bit strange, is not exactly role playing, but she fights very much like a samurai - that katana and some replaced animations. So I'm not sure what I'm playing, it's like waking up in a female body. It's a new experience. But at least she's not scary.
