Theoretically, the Chimer are just Aldmer who chose an alternate religious pantheon and way of life, hence their sojourn to Resdayn, also known as Dwemereth; Ancient Morrowind and Land of the Dwemer.
No Chimer exist in the current era of the Last Dragonborn, just as much as no Dwemer exist either (Yagrum Bagarn being the exception at least until the coming of the Nerevarine. His current status is unknown after the destruction of Vivec by Baar Dau and the subsequent erruption of Vvardenfell during Red Year; Master Neloth does not mention him at all to the Last Dragonborn). Both races of mer technically ended due to a series of historically-signifigant events at the end of the Battle of Red Mountain when Kagrenac activated the Heart of Lorkhan and ALMSIVI betrayed Nerevar and did the same; the Dwemer due to their own, deliberate actions, and the Chimer-become-Dunmer due to Azura's anger at the Tribubal killing her beloved Champion, becoming gods, and usurping her authority and signifigance.
Chimer means "Changed Folk" in ancient Aldmeric, originally due to their 'change' in philosophy from the Aldmer's Aedra worship to Veloth's Deadric. Ironically, the Chimer did truly and literally 'change' into the Dunmer, and at the same time, no longer existing at all. Almalexia portrays herself as she once was, or is (CHIM negates the concept of linear time), and is as much a Chimer as Talos is still a man... let alone anything tangibly mortal such as being female or alive. AYEM is, was, and always will be a god and cannot truly "die" unless totally forgotten... and hasn't, not even by the New Temple of the Reclamations.
I know the mod's most likely not supported anymore, but I wonder - how is this Chimer race mod more lore-friendly than the other ones on here? I'm not talking about continuity (Chimer and Dunmer), I'm talking about abilities and stuff like that.
I don't get why azura cursed the entire to be dark elves when they didn't have anything to do with the tribunal jerk's plan and how come almalexia still a chimer color like what's up with that?
I think the curse happened after the Tribunal officially came into office, so Azura cursed all the Chimer for accepting the Tribunal as the new gods. This could also explain why the division between 'civilized' and ashlander Dunmer happened - at first, they were all ashlanders, so to speak, but once Azura cursed them, those who didn't recognize the Tribunal left, and worshiped the Daedra also because of guilt, beside tradition. As to the second question - Almalexia (and partly Vivec) used the magic of Lorkhan artifacts to maintain their Chimer appearance.
How, exactly, is the existence of Chimer in the Fourth Era lore-friendly when they were transformed into the Dunmer by Azura in the aftermath of the Battle of Red Mountain c. 1E 700?
This mod is a good thing - while playing as Chimer would be very much lore-unfriendly, this is great to use as machinima material I always wanted to make a short movie abot how Nerevar met with Alamalexia, their adventures and how they got to be married even though he was just a caravan guard (but a friend to Veloth himself) and she was a generation younger girl, yet already a ruler on her own. How Nerevar became the champion of Azura, received On-Clan-under-Moon-And-Star. Then their marriage, where Dumac the Dwemer King gave the Trueflame and Hopesfire, their friendship, Invasion of the Nords and that war, then the war to get Vvardenfell free, Krageranac's mischief and finally the battle of Red Mountain. Having a Chimer race is quite needed if you attempt that. Also - what could be really useful is if someone have done Dwemer as well - shame we don't really know how they look like except a few drawings in Morrowind.
Great Idea! I started watching Elder Scrolls Lore and I had just heard of the chimer and searched it on google and this came up! I really cant wait to use this mod!
So I had this idea of a (moderately) lore friendly way of playing a Chimer, but I need some help making it work. Lets say that Almalexia was actually pregnant right before Nerevar died and the Chimer race were cursed into becoming the Dunmer. Then 9 months after (or however long it takes for an elf to be born) Almalexia has a daughter, Indoril Alexandria, (who is a Chimer because of her mother & father) that she tries to keep secret from the rest of Morrowind because shes begun to grow mad with power, and jealousy of anyone stealing her fame (as seen in Tribunal). Being sheltered, Alexandria becomes rebellious and tries running away to sewer system in Mournhold and eventually gets attacked by a vampire and catches Porphyric Hemophilia. Trying to hide the fact she ran away to the sewers, she never tells her mom that she has the disease. Eventually she turns into a vampire and her mom becomes furious and exiles her from the temple having a couple of Her Hands (or High Ordinators) keep her in isolation so she never reveals who she is in public. Hundreds of years later, after her mother is long dead and the Tribunal no longer exists, no one is going to believe she is actually a Chimer or the son of Nerevar, and thus leaves to go to the nearest province, Skyrim.
Obviously I made all of this up, but I tried to come up with a reasonable explanation for a Chimer who does not look super old being played in Skyrim. The only issues that I need help with is how do I make this custom race capable of being a vampire. I'm not very good with game modding so any help would be wonderful!
The Chimer (changed folk or Changed Ones) were a sect of Aldmeri dissidents who abandoned the ways of Summerset Isle and embarked on a great exodus to Morrowind. They followed the prophet Veloth, who spoke to them on behalf of Boethiah, Prince of Plots, and two other Good Daedra. The teachings of Veloth and the Daedra spawned a new culture on Tamriel and a new people, though the Chimer were physically indistinguishable from their former compatriots. Henceforward, the exiles were known as the Velothi. The term can be used in a general sense for the Dunmer as well, though it carries a specific meaning referring to ex-Ashlanders who have abandoned their nomadic ways.
Morrowind at the time of exodus was known as Dwemereth, after the enigmatic dwarves who already lived there. The exiles settled there and flourished, developing what is now known as Velothi High Culture, based on their worship of the three Good Daedra and respect for the House of Troubles. The ruins of Velothi Towers that now dot Morrowind are attributed to this period. Sometime around the rise of the First Empire of the Nords in Skyrim, the Velothi civilization broke down into a relatively primitive collection of clans and tribal warfare. The so-called Dunmer Strongholds of Morrowind were most likely built at this time, for defense against Nordic raiders and other Chimer. Such disunity allowed Skyrim to conquer Morrowind. The Nords ruled Morrowind, now called Resdayn, for many years, until infighting of their own (the War of Succession) allowed the Chimer and Dwemer to form an alliance and oust the occupiers. This was the era of the First Council, when the modern Great House system was in its infancy but already developing, with Indoril Nerevar and his three advisers (the Tribunal) at the fore. As every student of eastern history knows, the union did not last long.
At the climax of the War of the First Council, the Chimer received their name as they were transformed into the ashen-skinned Dunmer. Most Dunmer attribute this to the curse of Azura. The curse of Azura was a curse in which it is believed Azura thought (and was probably correct) that the Tribunal had killed Indoril Nerevar during a ritual to summon Azura to ask the Daedra what they should do next. Azura appeared anyway (Nerevar now dead) and was furious with Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec for having killed the war-hero. She cursed them by turning their eyes "as red as the volcano lava" and their skin "as black as their hearts". Now that all the Chimer had been changed into Dunmer, Azura told them they were cursed (as well as another sort of threat) and the Tribunal laughed at the Daedric Prince. They took the Heart of Lorkhan and ascended to god-hood.
While the Tribunal can no doubt appear in whatever form they wish, Sotha Sil and Almalexia most often appeared as unchanged Chimer, while Vivec sported a visage that was half gold, half gray. font :http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Chimer
@ Lore Talking in here: I have never seen so much false assumtions and wrong lore interpretations in one short thread before. I will only talk about one thing though: @DamarStiehl: It is assumed that they are not called Chimer or Changed Ones because of their turn to Dunmer, but because of their splitting from the Aldmer, who by the way were not "High Elves" but the Elven ancestor race.
Haha I miss Morrowind, can't seem to get it to work on my pc. Interesting viewpoint on the Thalmor, although I can't say I like than anymore than I had before I read that. Where did you see that Tullius killed the Mane?

Go to Click Here for Info About the Khajiit
Scroll down until you see and read the entire topic on the Moons and the Khajiit breeds
This should tell you in this section about the Moon Phases, it's effect on their breeds, and about what happened to the Mane.
