i know this is old but if anyone sees this and still uses this application I'm struggling with opening SE textures, causing an "unable to load bitmap" error. I'm guessing this is due to newer texture packs using a higher color-depth than this program can handle. Any ideas on fixing this?

I can't believe this program isn't more recognized.

Is there a fallout 4 equivalent or would I be able to use this with fallout 4 textures?

Folder name you put inside to test has to start with lower case letter...so its "textures", not "Textures" (without the quotes ofc) Bugged me too lol

This is exactly the same error (minor bug) i had and i've managed to solve it just by renaming the folder i want to compare from "Textures" to "textures".
Also, to make it easier to navigate, i made 3 separate folders outside of Oblivion folder, doesnt matter which drive it is, and named them by the texture packs i want to compare: QTP III , Darooz , Lougian and then in each of those i created new folder and named it "textures".

Then i simply extracted folders with textures i want to compare from the d/led archive or copied them if i had them elsewhere and made sure they had the same folder structure. For example:

I want to compare QTPIIIRedimized, Darooz Bruma and Lougian Bruma:

First folder named Qarls TP III > inside is folder "textures" > *(from here capitalisation doesnt matter)* inside is folder "architecture" > inside is folder "bruma" > inside are numerous .DDS files and two folders "brumawallset" and "interioronly"

Second folder named Darooz > same as above

Third folder named Lougian > same as above

      Important:
In most cases archives that you download have proper folder structure, so you just have to open them and from the "t/Textures" folder extract whatever is inside and put it inside the folder of your choice but named "textures" and then you''ll be able to compare them. If you're not sure whats the folder structure you can always check in your Data folder.

This the only utility i found that can compare 3 .DDS files at the same time and its fantastic.

It really should have been possible to make it function when case is different. I'd really love to have a play around with the source code and see how it might be improved. Technically, this utility could be used for many different games that make use of DDS texture formats if it could simply be made to work with whatever folders you enter into the project, case insensitive.

Is there an easy way to figure out which files were copied? I have some mods (eg True Brows) that override vanilla textures but also add new ones. I don't need the mod to load textures twice. I want to make a texture pack that has all the vanilla overrides and just keep the new textures added in the mod folder that adds them. Is there a batch file that could compare two folders and delete the duplicated files from a specfic folder?

" It has to be extracted."
Might be useful to state what's the easiest way to extract BSAs.

Really useful and easy to use tool, I used it just in fallout new vegas. Game looks much better now. Thank you.

There is a glitch when selecting directories which to compare, it did not accept browsed directories, reason for that is it does not accept uppercase letter in the '..data/Textures'-directory.
Just changing the directoryname into lowercase fixed the problem.

I noticed this too....but I didn't even change the actual directory names, just changed the capital "T" in the browse window (where you select the directories to compare) to a lower case "t" and it worked.

What an amazing tool. Such a shame it was not developed further. So many little things that could improve this tool to save hours of editing. :/
