Love this mod, but I just gotta say I don't understand everyone's obsession about "darker nights". Yeah, dungeons realistically need to be darker, but I think way too many people have only experienced city life, or always had some sort of electric lighting nearby for the "realistic" nights to look like that. And cameras have a lower dynamic range compared to eyes, so photos have a similar problem. (Just try to take a photo of the moon without special equipment.)
Yes, if there are lights nearby to ruin your night vision, or it is a new moon, that is indeed realistic. But night is a lot brighter than most people think it is when in the countryside. Full moon lighting without lights nearby looks pretty much EXACTLY how Bethesda lights their nights.
And Skyrim in particular has, you know, two giant moons. (Or rather, one giant moon and one normal-sized one.) Realistic nights might actually be brighter depending on moon phase.
At least in Fallout there's enough electric lights that light pollution would make those mods more realistic.
Anyway, sorry for the rant (and I actually do appreciate all the options), but that's been weighing on my chest for a while.
I do understand that my experiences are not universal, and it would be quite logical for most to think that it was super unrealistic to see that well under the moon. It's just a silly pet peeve of mine.
You could have just opened up Notepad and written a diary entry, not treat the comments section like your personal diary. This mod section is for Skyrim, not Fallout, so even mentioning that was purely pointless. The modder made something to appeal to people who want this kind of thing. If you don't like it, scroll on by and don't weigh the modder down with toxicity. If gamers want a darker night, that's their right, and really none of your business. If you don't want that, don't visit these mod sections to complain. You're not doing the modding community any favors.
I think you missed the "I love this mod" part. And the part where I talked about liking the options. It's way better than forced dark nights like some other "realism" mods. This one gives choices, and I greatly appreciate that. I was mostly commenting on the irritating misconception that was heavily prevalent in both the Skyrim and Fallout communities.
Yes Fallout is relevant, if only mildly. There is a lot of crossover when it comes to mod authors, as they use the same engine.
I could say the same thing to you, though: if you don't want to read my comment, it costs nothing to just... scroll past. Sure, it may seem pointless to you to talk about something I don't actually want changed in this mod specifically, but seriously?
I did my best specifically to avoid toxicity. Why are you attacking me?
Don't worry about the first person who replied to you; they seem to be one of those people who takes any form of criticism, no matter how well-meaning and gently said, as a personal attack. "You didn't enjoy something that I enjoyed. >:( That means you think they were wrong for making it and I'm wrong for liking it and therefore you're toxic" is basically the vibe they're giving me.
You're fine, friend. Your thoughts are perfectly valid, and were well-put, and honestly I actually agree. As someone who grew up far from cities, the night is incredibly bright at night when the moon is shining high, and I was a little befuddled by how many mods state their aim to make nights more "realistic" as if some places IRL aren't lit up like noonday when the moon is full and directly overhead.
Been using this mod for god knows how long. Love it. When I setup SE, I may try something else out. But it's been part of my list for so long. It's a keeper.
For darker nights though, it would be great if the "night" actually could be dark, and not everything else too, not look like you have gauss over your eyes. On a dark night, lights should "pop" and shine. There should be an ambience of indirect light, glowing by starlight, deep shadows and contrasts by moonlight, and the sky should be brighter and crisp with detail.
Not the mods fault I'm sure. I think for the game it's just like turning down the brightness or adding fog, everything getting muddled. As much as I love deep dark films like Aliens and Pandorum and such, how fun is it to watch movies when you can't even see what's going on? Ditto with a game that is almost half eye-candy.
I actually appreciate this comment. Sometimes I think I’m making it “easy mode” by not having it rather dark, but honestly I just want the game to be playable. But this reassures me that there’s a realism to not being blind. I’m not using training wheels, I’m using a light level my eyes evolved to have access to.
I have these mods, but when I turn on Climates of Tamriel, the game won't start at all. It works fine if I turn it off.

I'm new to modding and unsure what to do. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
Did you manually drop mods in yourself, or use Nexus' Vortex mod manager? Just from what it sounds like, it can't find the location of the esm and esp files. Just to cover your bases, watch some modding tutorials a few times, in case you had a brain fart. It still happens when I'm re-modding on a new PC.
I have seen vids of this mod and I love it. I love the clouds floating around the mountains. But, when I activate it in MO2 the game won't start. I'm not sure where to post the screen shot. Climates of Tamriel is on the bottom of the list.
Edit: Nevermind, doofus me downloaded the wrong one... derp....
im running oldrim on an old laptop rig and i see this mod has " performance optimization" tag. so if install this, will this actullay help me in bettering the performance of the game? or vice versa?
its enhance vanilla weather so i dont think you will gain more performance from it.Mine is potato too (i5-4210u, geforce820m 2g) and i dont find any performance drop.
Hello guys, old to skyrim but relatively new to modding and I had some issues with this mod. It looks beautiful and plays well when indoors but some odd behaviour occurs when outside with lighting coming up too bright, mild lagging and heavy lagging when in snowy places. I got LOOT but it doesn't seem to help so I'm here. My laptop is 8GB RAM, 4GB VRam, NVIDIA GTX 1050, core i5 and my load order is from loot is:
Please guys I need your help. I love this mod and I've seen people talk about how they've been able to play with computers with lower specs. Also, I installed all these mods manually and I have SKSE. Thanks.

I don't have any enbs but I used the specs I saw online for SKSE.ini.
use that. it adjusts the contrast and saturation like when u edit photo or something. not an enb tho so not affecting performance at all
