Q. What are light bulbs anyway? A. They are the things responsible for light sources such as Fire places, candles, torches, camp fire, dwemer/dwarven etc lights to actually emit light. For more info visit the Creation Kit page.
Q. What's the difference between shadow light bulbs and none shadow light bulbs? A. Well that answer is already in the naming of the two options. One of them casts light with shadows, the other one just cast light with no shadows at all.
Q. One or more lights keep flickering, turning themselves off and on, what can I do? A. Well first make sure you are not running multiple light bulb changing mods like Relighting Skyrim combined with ELFX and/or RLO. Because that will cause such issues to appear. If you only have Relighting Skyrim installed as your light bulb changing mod, then please add a comment on where it is happening, under which circumstances it happened. Basically as much info as you can muster, it will help us track down the issue a lot faster than just a plain "Lights keep on flickering, help!" Doesn't tell us squat, and could be both anywhere and for any reason.
Q. Why don't you have all light sources emit light? A. Because there is a limit amount of light bulbs that can be in a particular interior cell. Shadow light bulbs have the highest restriction, only 4 are possible to have in an interior. Unless there is a large enough distance between the shadow light bulbs, then more can be added. And both none shadow and shadow light bulbs have a mesh surface restriction of three per mesh surface, a single more light bulb would cause that mesh surface to flicker, going from a darker shade to a brighter shade when moving the viewing angle around.
Q. How do I install this? A. Use a mod manager, or copy the file content into the Skyrim Data folder, unless otherwise specified.
Q. It's too dark/too light, can you change it? A. No! Make sure you are running with a default game value for the "brightness". fGamma=1.0, located in "Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SkyrimPrefs.ini". And calibrate your display, here is a excellent tool for that Lagom.nl.
Q. How is the performance A. Same as vanilla, with possibility of improved performance in some interiors.
Q. Which main file should I download? A. Choose the one that fits you, and choose only one.
Q. Light flickers, how do I fix it? A. Post in the bug section about it, and add in info about the location.
Q. I've got "Zebra" striped shadows coming from a light source. A. Post in the bug section about it, and add in info about the location.
Q. How should I place this mod in my load order? A. Read the description page!
Q. Can you make a version without a DLC? A. I will not do any other version than the ones currently available.
Good mod. I have to uncheck the hearthfire esp thou. Light in interiors are too bright. Really like they leave you blind if you look at the screen too much.
Wow that was confusing, apparently JIT refers to this semi-unknown mod called Just in Time https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10361 Idk why they dont state that in the desc i was really confused for a bit there
I really like the combination of Relighting Skyrim + ELE, but is there anyway to make it compatible with Shadows? The shadows from that mod are simply gorgeous. (Mod --> https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50855) I'm not very experienced in xEdit so i just wanted to ask if there's anyway to do it (A video tutorial perhaps? Maybe something of the likes) or whether you'll do it at some point in the future. Sorry if this annoys you, just wanted to ask.
I'm having an issue that I think is a bug, which I posted.
I have Skyrim. Not Special Edition. Not "Legendary". Just regular, plain ol' Skyrim that has been hidden in the Steam store. This mod indicates that it has no dependencies or prerequisites. However, none of the versions seem to work for me with Vortex. I tried the main download link, and I also tried the "Relighting Skyrim - without JIT (Only Legendary) v413". Both of these cause errors in Vortex about the DLC and unofficial patch being missing. The game crashes when the mod is enabled.
Can anyone confirm whether or not this actually has no prereqs (base game only)?
I downloaded "?Relighting Skyrim - with JIT (FOMOD)?". When installing this one, it actually presents some options about what DLC is present (or not). It was installed successfully. I then ran Skyrim, and it worked successfully.
Quick quession: Does this turn off the flaming outdoor braziers and sconce torches and such, during the daytime? Immersive Content - Realistic Outdoor Lights does this, but I have a s'picion it's incompatible with RS.
Well ... black ''squares'' on the floor or on the walls appeared in my game after installing this mod. Those black '' boxes '' appear in my game in certain cells, only when I light a torch or when I use magic that causes light, such as Candlelight spell. Etc.
I am having issues with "black squares" outdoors with snow falling. I've yet to see the squares anywhere else. No idea if this is even related to your issues, or even this mod, however the black squares fall. I also discovered that any save when I have black squares falling will CDT when I try to load that save. I just run the character out of the snow and then save. Seems to work avoiding CDTs.
The Fireplaces are way too bright for me for some reason. For eg in the Windstad Manor, the light seems to go through the walls to the room behind and above the fireplace. I thought it was some other mod causing the issue but it turns out it is this mod.

Needs a bit of orange for fire lights but globally is excellent.
