love being a thief character but also want some challenges (ala 'Thief' series of games).
I hope you don't mind but I'd like to add a few suggestions.
1. The 1st bit of the video showed the 1st entrance which was a man-hole cover (UK speak).
But there was a stone sewer/water outlet right next to it. Couldn't there be a grate in the outlet that could be lock-picked instead?
2. I liked the ladder idea but as one other comment noted it was a bit implausible. However if the player character could buy some kind of harpoon/arrow based rope that a;;owed a rope ladder to be used then that would make more sense.
3. As Skyrim is very icy could there be a frozen lake outside a fortified town that could have an opening cut/smashed into it so the thief could then dive into the hole they'd made and dive into an underwater opening to the town?
4. Pulling/pushing/touching an object outside town to gain entrance. e.g. A fixed torch outside a town could be pulled, with a creak a stone moves and a passageway leading to the inner part of the town is revealed.
5. Digging/tunnelling under ramparts. The player has access to a pick, shovel wooden planks.
Could they or an NPC build a tunnel into a town from outside?
6. Buy a password that the guards accept as entry to the town.
The player could meet a shady NPC outside a town they need to visit and purchase a password that, supposedly, gains entry to that town. However the shady NPC might sell the player an incorrect/useless password. Does the player seek revenge shady NPC afterwards? Or put it down to experience?
7. A thief should have a random chance of:
a) Gaining entrance to a town the thief player is wanted in (i.e. has a bounty on their head).
This random factor could be factored with the following happening.
Examples (But there must be more...):
Due to a hung-over guard - Doesn't notice the wanted thief A guard being distracted by a dragon overhead - Doesn't notice the wanted thief The thief bribing the guard - Deliberately, - Doesn't notice the wanted thief Hiding in a wagon/cart that's entering the town (a manure cart would then lessen the thief's social perks) - Doesn't notice the wanted thief Wearing a disguise. The % chance of entry sepends on how good the thief's disguise is (cheap or expensive?) - Doesn't notice the wanted thief
8. Buying or finding some strong acid (have to kill a particular monster to extract the acid?) to melt a lock (see point 1).
9. Steal (pick-pocket/mug/threaten) some keys from a prominent member of the town whilst they are travelling outside the town.
Pick-pocket = 80% Chance of entry into the town Mug = 30% Chance of entry into the town Threaten = 10% Chance of entry into the town Murder = 5% Chance of entry into the town
All example %'s.
Hope this is off some use to you Helmuth84.

P.S. I work in the video games industry as a Designer/Producer so hope you take my comments as they were meant, in good faith and with encouragement.
@Helmuth84, Had this idea myself but didn't finish it so I use your mod instead. For Riften, how about adding a sewerentrance by the docks (maybe even underwater?) that leads to The Ratway and Thieves' Guild? Just a thought
@ FlexBcarrier: No there arn't only entrances. The position you arrive in the city is the postion where you leave the city. For the ladder, I agree with you, it's not the best think for a "secret entrance" but i didn't have any other idea for Riften :/
Edit : I'll probably upload a more immersive version of the mod this evening, stay tuned :p
I don't know i like the ladder, it looks sort of temporary and seems plausible. I would like to see less trap doors and more sort of crumpling hole type entrances or stuff like that, just for the sake of immersion. Good mod anyway
This question may be stupid, but Your video shows only way in; so for peace sake - there are not only entrances, right? It does work both sides? Also if I may suggest something, ladder on the city wall looks suspicious - maybe it would be better to set up there some climbing plants like ivy instead.

Hey why not ? I'm working on it this evening.
@ Lambar:
A lot of these ideas are very good, but i'm not a dev, and all my skills are limited by the most simple functions of the Creation Kit :p
Great idea.

sorry double post
One can also use this mod (whenever he uploads the file) and sneak in. Obviously...?
