Note 1: The options with 50% of volume are reduced 18 dB (decibels). Note 2: My original intention in section Equip-Unequip Clothing was to silence/reduce only the ring equipment sounds. But that particular sound shares many different sounds. So I decided to mute/reduce the whole package. @GlassDeviant: If you know of a NMM installer that implement such a feature, publish the link and I'll try to replicate that functionality.
I like playing with mods but some sounds (moaning stuff) is a problem when other people are around. The keyboard mute does not work in Skyrim.
I know that I can put on headphones but when it is on for too long my ears get pinched and feel uncomfortable and hot.
I am using sexlab mods.and I don't know which of these mods are responsible for the moaning sounds.
Is it possible for a mod request, on bended knees, to be able to mute moanng sounds when people can overhear you? Does not have to be these particular sounds but say all voices. skyrim provides a slider for voices so could may be minipulate this. I am not a programmer so I don't really know. it would be great if it had a shortcut button as well.
Anyone encountering an issue where the game continues to play its default sounds despite having this mod in place? I've triple-checked my file path and sound file names, but I'm at a loss. It was working... and now it has stopped working. I haven't installed any other mods that have altered sound files since it was working.
Edit: I actually found that the only sound not working was my Level Up sound. I had replaced it with the Morrowind level up sound by renaming the Morrowind track to ui_levelup.wav and pasting it over the file provided by this mod in the Skyrim/data/sounds/fx/ui directory. However, in order for this to work I needed to have three files in my Music folder that I had since deleted accidentally. Those three files are mus_levelup_01.xwm along with _02 and _03 respectively. I got the Morrowind replacements for these files from http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6292/? in case anyone is interested.
Also, if you'd like to replace the level up sound with a different sound of your choice, you can alternatively use multixwm (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3159/?) to change any .wav to a .xwm.
Bless you! The sound of crafting items, no matter which kind, was making my boyfriend crazy and forcing me to have to wear headphones to play. And the dogs have FINALLY shut up! Woot!
Just searched an UI sound stopper, and promptly found it here, cool - unfortunately, i aimed for muting the equip/unequip UI "in-world" (character loads/unloads inventory items to anything else), and just that is not covered by the mod, judged by the list and its descriptions ... um. Nonetheless, will dl now when i'm already found a silencer (and bookmark, perhaps it'll be extended). Hope, it has no issues with SkyUI and SKSE whatsoever. Will endorse anyway, such a mod is indeed much underrated.
I've discovered how to edit this mod for myself and thought I'd share. The current v1.3 doesn't mute the sound for finding a new location. I also wanted to mute the annoying skeleton idle sound. DID IT!
First I'll explain how to mute a sound for yourself, then I'll show what to do to mute new-location-discovered.
After installing find the folder for this mod in explorer. Inside you will find a folder called Sound with all the mute wav files that this mod uses to silence in-game sounds, structured in the same folder structure used in Skyrim - Sounds.bsa file in skyrim\data. To silence a sound not covered by this mod you need to find the name and folder path for it and recreate it in this mod folder by copying one of the mute wav files used in this mod and renaming it to the sound you are silencing.
1. Download a bsa explorer/unpacker (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59553) and use it on the Skyrim - Sounds.bsa to find the name and folder path of the sound file(s) you want to silence. 2. Copy the name and duplicate the file path in the mod folder with a copied mute wav from this mod. 3. Open skyrim and see if it worked... then pat yourself on the back and enjoy the silence. btw names of skeleton idle sounds are npc_skeleton_conscious_01_lp and npc_skeleton_conscious_02_lp and they're in folder path sound\fx\npc\skeleton
Now to mute the find-new-location sound: 1. Make a new folder "Music" next to the sound folder in the mod folder 2. The sound is a music file (thanks AsatorThundrGod). These use xwm extension. Download (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8303) and use it to convert a mute wav from this mod. Copy the mute xwm file two more times and rename the three files mus_discover_genericlocation_01 and mus_discover_genericlocation_02 and mus_discover_genericlocation_03 and put them in the music folder you created.

if you can't it is ok.
How about a mute voices with a short cut only version so
when there are naughty scenes it can be muted.
just a thought.
