Thank you for this mod! Is there any chance of having these rings NOT level up Alteration like crazy? Got them at level 1 but they push me forward much too fast.
Years later, but for anyone that might want to know: this issue seems to be from the Dead Detect, so you shouldn't keep the ring equipped all the time if you don't want to level Alteration fast. The ring must be set up to permanently cast the Detect Dead spell when it is equipped, so the game grants you Alteration XP when in use. Similarly, the Clairvoyance ring will do the same for Illusion. I've put the rings on hotkeys so I can pop them on and off quickly as needed.
Such a sweet little useful mod -- been using it for so many years, it works perfect even now, and is a must for any playthru. Kudos to johneh87 for hitting a home run with the first mod itself!
And this mod works well with the Unlimited Rings mod or the Left-hand rings mod, which allow multiple rings to be equipped.

Sorry guys, I suspect i only needed to recompile it for SSE since its now 64bit, but I lost the sourcecode for the mod due to a harddrive failure back in 2014. So I would have to rewrite it.
Are you sure that you lost the sources? I just unpacked the BSA file, and for each of the two compiled scripts in it, the corresponding *.psc file exists. Not that I'm trying to bug you over porting it to Skyrim SE or anything (I'm using the original game for the forseeable future anyway), but hopefully you wouldn't have to redo content already present here.
I've simply recompiled the scripts locally and it seems to have done the trick. I suspect the scripts needed to be compiled to 64bit.
There is an oddity though. Not sure whether it's the game engine or whether it can be improved in the script (no papyrus knowledge), but some auras tend to disappear and reappear all the time. And only on some NPCs. For some the auras remain. Kinda weird.
I would kindly want to ask to the mod author to port this over to SSE. I really need this mod in my playthrough otherwise my "roleplay" build is broken and cant be recreated in SSE.
I hope this isn't too much trouble but this (for me) is one of those mods that needs to be ported over ASAP. Why bethesda didn't include detect life and detect dead as normal enchants I will never understand. How am I supposed to carry a bow and using the detect life spell at the same time???
