When you say Ive assembled a vast selection of mods and all works well enough. Nearly and/or close to the selection i had when using NMM. Ive transferred the old save in, but it states that the save is missing 62 esp's. Is this when you start the game or when you hover the mouse over the save in MO?

If you have truly installed all of the mods and activated them then you should not have any missing ESPs in the save. Make sure that you have enabled the mods that you need in the left pane and their ESP corresponding ESPs in the right pane. They should have a check in the box to the left of the name.

I see the missing esp's in MO. It offers to "Fix" the save, but there is nothing to fix. Next to each listed esp it says "not found" However the majority of the mods it says are missing are infact installed and running fine on a fresh save.  Both the new and old (broken) saves are under the same profile so everything is enabled.

Hello! First time user here for MO and I must say its absolutly incredible. I beat myself up for not having found it sooner. So far everything has been a joy to work with. I however have one issue and that is using my old savegame from when i was using NMM. Ive assembled a vast selection of mods and all works well enough. Nearly and/or close to the selection i had when using NMM. Ive transferred the old save in, but it states that the save is missing 62 esp's.... From those 62 maybe 5 are not actually installed. The rest are all there. "not found" it says. And naturally the save crashes.

So Id say that its just one of these missing esp's that's causing it to fail, but then why is it saying so many are missing? 62. So this save isn't seeing the mods installed I'm guessing because it was done using the old atrocious way with NMM. Is there anything that can be done before I deem it lost?

NMM has quite a bit of problems with managing different mods and doesn't allow for you to overwrite certain mods' files on the fly. That means if you install overwriting/conflicting mods in the wrong order with NMM you're going to have to start over. Whereas with MO you can just give a mod priority in the left pane to overwrite the files of a conflict. NMM also has a hard time with large files like Legacy of the Dragonborn or Interesting People. Oftentimes this leads to the installation failing altogether, or, claiming to install fine and you'll actually be missing the odd file that didn't actually copy over. The bottom line is if you're using NMM and it works for you why did you even come here? It's likely you were having some kind of issue with NMM and decided to shop around. Either read the documentation and follow the youtube tutorials and decide if it's right for you or continue using NMM mate.

Not a bug, just a setting that you need to change.

Note the instructions here described for Witcher 3 managed by NMM and all other games by MO. Simply substitute Fallout 4 where Witcher 3 is mentioned.

MalwareBytes picked this up as a trojan. Specifically version 1.3.11. It only picks up the installer as one, not the actual installed program itself. I know it's not and is a false positive, just a heads up.

    Another suggestion, very small though:

Make it recognize BodySlide files automatically, so it doesnt give errors.

Maybe i should just merge themm with the original mod though eh.

I recently bought a new ssd and installed skyrim to it. I was previously using NMM. I had to reinstall all my mods and spent a ton of time figuring out why everything wasn't exactly as I had it before. I heard about Mod Organizer, dl'd it, and migrated all my mods over to it and was fairly impressed. I then installed Linux Mint on a new partition but I guess something went wrong because I couldn't get back into my windows 10 disk. I ended up formatting the disk and reinstalling Skyrim. Mod Organizer saved me at least 4-5 hours. All my mods were on a different drive along with Mod Organizer. Because MO completely decouples the mods and orderings etc... from the main game data folder, I didn't have to reinstall a single mod. Everything just worked like I had it before. I love you guys so much I immediately went out and donated.

    Hello.
I have viewed an installation video, seen the STEP page, and spoken with a friend who uses MO daily. Before today, I have searched for a solution to this problem I'm having many times, and followed prescribed advice, and have never been able to get "Drag and Drop" function to work.

I have the newest MO, installed 30min. ago.
By default, I see that "No groups" is selected on the bottom. On the right pane, the "Downloads" tab is selected. The filter on the left pane has "No category" selected. I am signed in. I want to grab a mod (.zip) file from a folder on my PC, or desktop, drag it into M.O. All I see is a black "No" symbol.

I understand that files can be dragged into the right "Downloads" tab area normally, but it does not work for me. How am I doing it wrong? Moreover, how can I do it right?

    I'm on Windows 7.

Drag&Drop works just fine for me so the error isn't with MO's functionality.

You simply grab the file with your mouse, left-click, and then drag it over until MO has the focus. This may need to be done with an 'Alt-tab' depending on the situation. Once over the "Downloads" tab release the file and the console log will say something like:

      10:02:55 [D] downloads after refresh: 258
      10:06:44 [D] downloads after refresh: 258

The actual file will not be visible in the "Downloads" until you perform an action that refreshes the view, ie. change to another tab or exit and reopen.

If you are performing these actions and nothing is happening then the error lies with your OS, perhaps you have settings that are hindering this process. The permissions of the supplying folder and the recieving folder may have a bearing? ie. if MO is installed into an UAC folder such as "Program Files" then maybe that is hindering it. Though I doubt it.

Thanks for trying to help. Just to clarify, I know it's not M.O.'s fault. There has to be a setting somewhere that I've missed. I have 2 monitors and can see both MO and my Downloads folder, Desktop, etc. so Alt-tab isn't necessary. I have tried shrinking the M.O. window and Downloads folder and D&D from the same screen, but nada.
M.O. is set to run as Admin. so that is also fine too. I can grab a mod file from the desktop or downloads folder to NMM, etc. with ease, so in general I know it can be done. Doesn't matter whether I am grabbing the file from (Downloads, Desktop, or other location) because none have UAC.

"The actual file will not be visible in the "Downloads" until you perform an action that refreshes the view" Good to know.

I think the clue is that while I have a mod's zip file grabbed, and hover over the "Downloads" tab/window (or any other part of M.O.) there is a black "No" symbol. Something is preventing the drop. I need to find that "something".

I believe due to security concerns all mod managers will only modify the games data directory.
