Hello everyone, sorry for the long absence, real life happens. Having just got back to Skyrim, I'll be looking into giving this house an update once I get all caught up what's new in the past few months.
Your house is fantastic, great work here ! But I have a ctd all around the house when I save, just in this area. I've see in this comment section many users have it too, how to fix that ? Is this a mod conflict or a load order issue ? Please help.
Awesome home, I've started using it as my "main base," although it does need a few fixes: -In the outdoor crafting area, the tanning rack collection barrel collects ore instead of pelts -The smithing barrel collects ore as well as pelts, meaning you have to use those barrels first -The recipes in the smithing station don't light up correctly when ingredients are available (they still craft, though), this may be due to one or more of my mods, but the tanning rack was working just fine with new recipes -Too many light sources hitting some objects, especially in the basement and some spots outdoors -The treasure chest in the cobwebbed area in the basement is set to respawn (maybe?) -Large angled display case is clipping into the table
I also changed a few things to fit my personal preferences with the Creation Kit which you might want to use: -Moved all the crafting stations inside to take the places of the dwemer machinery (I like having all my crafting in the same place), outside is now just a garden -Reduced clutter (especially baskets) and removed cobwebs -Removed cauldron and spellbooks static mesh from desk upstairs, replaced with 1/2 scale chest of drawers to hold notes -Removed two mannikins from in front of the chest in the display area (left the two on the sides), they got in the way a bit
Interesting changes. I was actually initially attracted to this house specifically because the smithing stations were outdoors, and near moving water.
I've always thought that Alvor's Smithy gazebo was the most enviable view in the game for that type of crafting. Not just outside and with townsfolk passing by, but near a stream and waterwheel to boot.
I've only found 3 mod houses that had outdoor smithing. There was another that was right on beautiful rapids and waterfalls (Sentinel Falls), but that house is entirely missing a Smelter (there's not even a place I could manually place one), and the interior's a disjointed maze of inconvenience. Which is a real shame considering how spectacularly gorgeous the outside is. Easily the most spectacular house placement I've ever seen.
Thanks for this, really love it! It meets all my requirement for a player home, even location (seems every other player home is near Ivarstead or Riverwood...) I only have one problem and that is that the place is absurdly bright. Everywhere except downstairs when you get to the crafting areas, even the display room is obnoxiously bright. Not sure if its the house or maybe my ENB so I'll check that out tonight, but it just seems quite bright.
Aside from that, great job! New favorite player home!
Ive heard ENB can have that effect. I havent tested that mod yet. For my own part, I think the interior brightness is perfect (powered by the waterwheel assisted Dwemer engine room).
But ENB adds something akin to Bloom, best described as a bright haze superimposed over your view. That provides an otherworldly surrealism, but bright lighting and white surfaces will be a problem.
After much perusing, I've concluded that this will be my home (endorsed). I am making a few changes (personal use only). Like I'm moving all the Smithing stations up to the deck (minus the smelter) so I can overlook the beautiful rapids during crafting. Also adding commonshelf01 to the deck (with the Anything Bookshelf mod) to display ingots. Added some more goathorn lighting to the outside and made a few changes to the armory (a bit cramped in the center with all the mannequins).
But the Dwemer power system.. amazing stuff. Wonderful storage (especially the sliding doors under the alchemy table). Nice touch! Not to mention the crafting from container, something few house mods sport. Gorgeous interior and excellent lighting. I also like that it's not cavernous, requiring extensive winding travel to get to this room or that. I like quaint. I like efficient. Ive been hoping to find a mod house that included Fertile Soil. But looking at your Garden, I think you've planted one of everything.
This is my personal favorite house mod, out of all the ones I've found thus far (and I've found a lot). It provides all the necessary crafting tools, without making it feel cluttered. It has a great atmosphere and ambiance. It's cozy. It doesn't try to do too much with too little space. It's not one of those absurdly massive mansions that people are so fond of making. It ticks every box I'm looking for in a living space for Skyrim and then some. Thanks for this fantastic mod. You earned my endorsement - the only house mod I've endorsed thus far.
Brilliantly done, I love the look of everything. The wooden walkway outside is my favorite part. The only thing I would change is the bookcase room, it's a bit too bright.

You really did do a marvelous job. Bravo.
