Have anyone had any luck getting this converted and working on the latest AE version?

This is a classic mod that JUST WORKS. I'm using this on SSE because I don't want to use any of the other fancy schmancy mods that do more than just auto unequip my helmet when I draw a weapon. I don't need any extra stuff. I just want my helm to auto equip when I press R.

To convert it to SE, I just re-saved it in the CK.

For anyone interested in getting this to work in SE, here's my experience. Unfortunately for me, attempting to use it as-is resulted in an immediate CTD, even before the Bethesda logo intro. After some effort, mostly in setting up the correct compilation environment, I finally got it to work.

First, since the esp is form 43, I changed it to form 44 by simply opening it in the creation kit and saving it. This alone was not enough to prevent the CTD, however.
Next I extracted the bsa content, compiled the included source script, then packed everything up into a bsa file again. Zipped up the new bsa and converted esp, and installed via MO2. Happily, everything works as expected, at least in my limited testing so far.

Having used it for hundreds of hours in LE, I don't expect any issues in SE but of course, YMMV.

Edit: forgot to mention that while I was at it, I also changed the file header record to flag it as an esl via SSEEdit.

Good to know somebody else is trying this gem of a mod in SE.
I just installed it and so far everything seems perfect. Simply changed form ID's in Creation Kit, saved, then xEdited the esp to ESPFE to save a plugin slot, loaded it up via MO2, and works great.
BTW, I didn't recompile scripts and it didn't CTD on my rig, so your mileage may vary...

Yes, It seems so. You need to convert it yourself but its really easy.

      Here is how:

      1. Download and install this mod through MO2 or Vortex like normal.
      2. Open the installed mod in windows explorer (MO2: Right click, "Open in Explorer") PATH EXAMPLE: (C:\Users\_EXAMPLE_USER_\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\_MO2_INSTANCE_\mods\Auto Unequip Helmet).
      3. Extract "Auto Unequip Helmet.bsa" with BAE into the Auto Unequip Helmet install folder.
      4. Delete "Auto Unequip Helmet.bsa".
      5. Profit.

      Hope this helps

This works well, but, if you're using Vortex, you have to disable and then enable this mod again before running the game for the first time.

Still the best helmet toggle mod, great work. The fact the you can toggle the run/idle script without having to open a single menu is simply awesome!

Just wanted to added on as someone using this mod in 2019 - this mod is a gem still! It pairs well with Ordinator as well. :) I've never had any issues with this mod.
