With regards to the Skyrim SE 0.7 version, I have alreadynoted that the icon texture for the Raider helm does not work in the inventory but the helmet when worn by the character it looks fine. I am not sure when I will get a chance to look at this but will probably wait and see if any other errors pop up first before doing anything drastic.
I removed the replacers for iron and steel armour as theytended to conflict with other mods. I have now added them to the bandit’s level list so you should be seeing them and other spawns wear the armour in game.
I really like the idea of the mod but it's not really working well. Iron and Steel Armor aren't replaced at all, my stormcloaks and guards get a weird bald spot for some reason. And it's not compatible with the secret of steel mod.
I really gotta find out how to make my own replacers mod...
Why are these not light armor? If its a Viking theme your going after light makes more sense, seeing as how the Vikings were a lightly armored raider/pirate civilization. Is any one even still working on this mod?
Please see my response to Grifman below and I would like to add that from my understanding mail was the premier heavy armour for almost 1,000 years before plate came along.
Ensrick,
I have not been playing Skyrim for a while and I'm just getting back into it so may look into adding the armours to the levelling list at some point.
Allnamesinuse,
Stormcloak armour has been modded to look like mail rather than leather scale like the other holds.
Hello thtdutchfellow, From the reading I have done the Vikings were much more than raiders and pirates. They were also traders, explorers and mercenaries (look up the Varangian guard). They also pretty much conquered Saxon England and ruled it for many years under King Knut, ravaged and secured northern France to create Normandy under Rolo and in turn conquered England again founding the basis of the medieval English nation, created a Kingdom in Ireland, settled northern Scotland, settled and founded Novgorod and the Kievan Rus lending their name to Russia, choose the Greek Orthodox religion that it still followed by Russia and other eastern European countries and as the Normans also founded kingdoms in Sicily and Italy. They had a vast trading network from Newfoundland to Europe to Asia all the way down to Byzantium, created incredibly advanced swords, built unmatched ocean going ships at that time, wore the best most advance armour of the period and fought in scores of battle across entire continents. So to my mind it is not unreasonable for them have heavy armour in Skyrim. With regards to working on the mod I am looking to include the armours into the levelled list in the coming weeks. Cheers, Laz3456
taking in consideration skyrim's armor system, these still should be light armor (medium if it was morrowind system). chainmail was kind of medium armor, it composed good defense with maneuverability as compared to plate armors.
That is your opinion and it is fair enough if the game system concerns you but if you want your character to look like a Viking warrior and not a medieval knight at higher levels then this is the mod for you.
In my view mail is heavy armour and was so for many more centuries than plate which was only in use for a relatively short time in comparison. I would also recommend experimenting with wearing a real padded gambeson, boiled leather, mail or plate armour to see which feels most 'heavy' as this may change your point of view.
If you do not want the replacement weapons then use the Viking Armour Comp rather than the Viking Warrior Comp as it has the same armour without the weapons from TCOS. Cheers,
