Well...that's one way to wake me out of my funk...Seems some "well respected" Nexus modders are charging for their mods on Steam now. So I'm going to put on my big-boy pants and update this bastard. A couple guys tried to help me a while back and did quite a few of the missing recipes and new ones for the DLC I hadn't covered...and I just let it sit there on my computer. So after I apologize to them for being such a lazy s***, I'll polish everything up, pack it together and put it up here FOR FREE FOREVER.

... ... ...apparently getting pissed off is a good cure for depression... ... ...

EDIT: Dragonborn breakdowns are up. Big thanks to Robomac88 for his work. And Bethesda & Valve for ticking me off so bad that I built up the energy to finally get off my a**.

DOUBLEDIT: Dawnguard Items up too. again, thanks to Robomac88.

Up next...all the crap I've left out on purpose. (dragonbone, uniques, arrows, bolts...) and a fancy FOMOD version where you can pick and choose what you want (thanks Brandon007 for starting me on that)...then yeah...finding all the crap I've missed... ... ...and finally getting around to adding breakdowns for all the mods I begged people to give me permission for and never did it. And maybe finishing up my bakwards-ass cheaty way of getting reactions to drop multiple different items.

Hard to imagine having more respect for a modder than I do for the creator of the Crafting Breakdown. Also hard to imagine playing Skyrim without it. Those "well respected" guys have shown how easy it is to casually squander respect when you aren't really worthy of it.
Thanks for your great work, and also for 'keepin' it real'.

Hey I was thinking about making my own spin on a breakdown mod I was wondering if you would mind if I used your mod as a base. Also how does that bakwards-ass cheaty way of getting multiple outputs work I was thinking of trying to implement that as well as making the mod automatically profile all the recipes and generate them on the fly.

This can be used for SSE. I suggest running the 4 separate files through the CK (the Dragonborn file is replete with errors and does need to be fixed but it does NOT cause issues when used the way I describe) Save them from the CK.

You can then use Merge Plugins, either the script for xEdit or the utility (both are created by MatorTheEternal). Look for the option in Merge Plugins (the Utility version) and find Ignore Errors or Fix Errors. It will "Fix" the errors allowing all 4 files to be cleanly merged. Merge them and you can still breakdown SOME of the common items. DO NOT make this into an ESL or ESP-FE, I'm unsure how stable it is then. Merged it is completely stable and does NOT cause any CTD. I've used that file for several thousand hours and never had any CTD.

Activate in Load Order, use LOOT to sort and Profit!

Appreciate it's an older post, but you're profile says you're active; did it work?

Hello Ben of 3 months ago, yes I just reinstalled this successfully in SE. Was using smeltdown but that mods lack of protections for equipped/enchanted items just got too old and tedious to stash things every single time i wanted to breakdown...

anyway, yay for old mods that still work in SE.

It works just fine. Even better after adapting it to SSE you can then merge the file and breakdown 4 ESPs into just 1.

I do not suggest trying to make it an ESL file since it is such an older mod. It is over 10 years old.

Does the main file have everything or do I NEED all of the addons?

Each of the add-ons can be considered separate files - only pick the one(s) you want.

When I make bone meals from skulls in mill my game crashes. I can "smelt" down 20-30 skulls before ctd. Everything else works fine. It's not a big deal, it was even to easy to gain bone meals (skulls are everywhere).

Just a quick note. For all versions of the Dragonborn addon, Clothing, Chitin, Bonemold, Stalhrim, etc cannot be broken down. There is no error message in-game, they simply don't show up as eligible for breakdown. I checked them in TESVedit and they have null references in both conditions. Was the wrong version uploaded? It is the same for the old version, the individual download, and the version included in the OMOD.

I love this mod ever since I first saw it several years ago. It does make pretty much all my looting habits worthwhile since pretty much EVERYTHING gets turned into something useful (I'm sure I'll find a use for charcoal... someday lol it's just around the next mod!), but seriously, this mod is awesome. I saw there was a few other similar mods, but they don't quite cover everything like this one does, mostly armor and some weapons, but leaves stuff like silverware alone.

I'll be using this mod still in many more playthroughs because its simple and does what I wanted from such a mod. Many thanks!

Combine Charcoal and Iron to create Steel. The crafting recipe is in there. It is also very nice to break down the ceramic and glass items too. This mod is GLORIOUSLY perfect and a MUST HAVE for ANY play through.

It IS perfection indeed. Just did a complete uninstall / reinstall of Skyrim (again) and after getting the basic mods set (ie: SKSE, SkyUI, FNIS, racemenu, XPMSE, USLEEP -always makes me want to take a nap...-) and right after getting the head, body, hair, eyes, mods done, I'm looking for THIS mod, jaxonz positioner, pocket chest, power workstation and Jaxonz's named saves.

Still using it after all these years!

Seems to work with Special edition! Only checked vanilla stuff up to elven/dwarven but that's a good sign. This mod is a MUST in any playthrough.

so you are saying, the MOD > AS IS < will work with Skyrim SE? As stated the vanilla stuff?

I would seriously like this to 'be' true! As Skyrim SE is seriously in need of a Recycle Mod.
