Actually, it IS a type of rare, volcanic glass from Vvardenfel. As is Ebony.
Downloading this. Didn't like how they suddenly decided glass was a type of gem. I wasn't happy with other mods that renamed it, either.

Umm. I'm just saying, "glass" armor and weapons are made out of metal... it's just sparkly. It's like a greenish reflective steel. It's not actual GLASS. Like a glass vase or jar. It's the product of smelted ore that makes metal. In fact, if you really really look at the glass sword (just as an example) it looks more like metal than glass. Because that's what it's supposed to be. It's actually just pixels. XD

Using quartz instead of "sand" and maybe calling it "crystal" would be best I think. I'd personally like to see that with a clear texture with "fractals" in it. Plus, quartz is pretty darn strong naturally anyways.

nice! it bothered me that bethesda changed glass from how it was in morrowind. sure its not realistic to mine glass from rocks but its the lore they established in previous games, no need to change it later to be more realistic.

@Rex1029 Glass in the elder scrolls is not like glass here on earth. Read this for some more information on that: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Light_Armor_Repair
"What we call Glass is nothing like the windows panes you see in houses. The greenish material is far stronger and has a much higher melting point."
In Morrowind, you can "mine" raw glass, not malachite. That's what I was thinking of here. And yes, you mine it directly from the rocks, and then refine it in a smelter. The recipes also reflect this change.

Side tangent, for pratical sake (and bit of odd information for the trivia nuts)

Copper and other metals are added to glass to color it.
Copper is often used to turn glass green.
Malachite is a copper compound, and often is used to make green glass.

With these facts, it doesn't bother me to mine malachite, and use it to get the glass in a green color for the armor. One thing that might be a bit breaking would be if you use a mod that retextures to a CLEAR glass, or a different colored one. That one wouldn't have malachite, so I could see such being "Glass" instead.

Now, on the lore aspect, I can see "Sand" being fairly cheap overall in most holds. In that case, the expensive part would be the other bits used in the production. (like how they don't stress the fuel for the fire in the forge, cooking pot, or "Glue" being needed for some of the compound bows in the game.)

I see it worth while, but I also see expansion on it possible, and a few questions being needed.

    1) Did you change the other recipees for smithing so that it requires the glass ingot instead of Malachite?

    2) Did you think about a refinement at the smelter to smelt empty bottles down into glass ingots, to get the material for glass armor? I have done a smelt for the bottles in one of my mods to do malachite, but if you are stressing glass, it might be worth while for you as well in a mod like this.

    3) Have you thought about a vendor item "Bucket of Sand" or something like that for raw material to make clear glass ingots?

    4) How did you set up the veins? Do you still mine malachite? or did you change it to glass? Or do you mine malachite ore, and make glass ingots?

    Just curious

This doesn't change the textures, I am using a separate texture replacer. It's in the description.

May want to change the recipe as well, as Moonstone was the gold bit of glass armor, and you've made it black instead. Ebony fits, but it's far too heavy to be used in a light armor. At least, if you want to keep the immersion factor, that's what I'd change.

Nice quick edit for anyone without the mod kit at hand, but you know..glass isn't just 'found' Seems like a lore breaker to me. Morrowwind was amazing, but lacked common sense.
