About this mod

This mod adds new offensive enchantments to shields, in a similar manner to the Targe of the Blooded. These enchantments apply different hostile effects to enemies when shield bashing.

Alva's Offensive Shields is a small, simple mod designed to expand upon the versatility of shields in "sword and board" based combat scenarios.  In a similar vein to the Targe of the Blooded found in Alftand, this mod adds several new shields with offensive capabilities, designed to inflict an effect upon enemies when bashing with it.  All shield materials are included, in addition to materials added by the Dragonborn and Dawnguard DLCs, although I have not included faction shields such as Imperial and Dawnguard - these may be added at a later date, subject to interest.

MAJOR UPDATE!

What's new in Version 2.1?

  • Fixed missing textures on unique NPC
  • Lowered the value of shields added to be consistent with vanilla enchanted shields
  • Tweaked spawn chance for enchanted Falmer shields
  • Added 6 new unique shields! (spoilers below)

Features:
  • All major material types covered, including those added by DLCs (Nordic, Stalhrim, Chitin, Bonemold...)
  • Three strength tiers for each enchantment
  • Elemental enchantments: Fire, Frost and Shock
  • Paralysis enchantments
  • Fear and Turn Undead enchantments
  • Drain health, magicka and stamina*
  • Ten unique enchanted shields found in the wilderness

* The absorption enchantments do not currently transfer their effects to the player - they will only drain attributes from the enemy.  For example, the absorb health enchantment on a shield only drains the target's health, it does not heal the player.  I'm looking into a way of making this possible.

Due to the way the shield bashing enchantments are implemented in the game, the effects are applied via a perk rather than an actual enchantment.  Therefore, it is not possible to disenchant them.  However, the effect works for followers and NPCs, and it is possible to temper the shields.

Planned Future Updates:
  • Enchanted faction shields
  • Soul Trap enchantments
  • Dual enchantments

If anyone wishes to port this to SE, feel free. I am unable to do so myself as I don't have Skyrim SE.
