edit: I just saw the photos again (lazy me), it allows you to talk to the dogs and tell them to follow you, the mod you have to use is called: My Home Is Your Home - a mod for followers https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18045 If the target has an option for dialogue then the option should appear. I know it works with non-humanoid npc (the Dwarven Spheres and the spider from the dragonborn DLC) probably will work in a dog with dialogue.
You can use the console to set NPCs as essential. Open it up and type "help <NPC's name>". It'll give you the NPC's base ID. Then type "setessential <baseID> 1" if you use the mod: Mfg Console https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44596 clicking on anything or npc gives you all the information you may need, baseid, refid
I hope it helps you since I asked the creator a question and his response really didn't help me at all.
This below is useless since out of laziness I didn't look at the mod back since I have no interest in it but I had already written it so here it is: Hello, about followers and adding them, I think the basic thing is that they have the option for dialogue, otherwise it wouldn't be possible since you can't talk to them, but, you could see Loneshade guide: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5563/
or investigate the addtofaction commands section of uesp, maybe there is something there: look on the page for "addtofaction" https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console
There is a mod that allows you to add valid NPC characters as allies/wife/etc. It's called Relationship Dialogue Overhaul - RDO, although (and this is something that has happened to me, I can't confirm anything else) I had problems in rorikstead with CTD and this mod was responsible
I use a mod called: Recruit Npc spell https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10559 Of course, I have only tried it with humanoid NPCs, you simply spell it with "Follow" and all the dialogues automatically appear, even those from the mod My Home Is Your Home - a mod for followers. I use it to move npc added by some mod to any closed place away from the map loading and I leave them locked in forever. I couldn't tell you if it works with animals.
Hello, I was excited if I saw Dug from the movie UP in the photos. Does this mod work with Pet the Dog - animations? I'll clarify that I'm not currently using that mod, because frankly vanilla dogs make you want to throw a broom at them rather than pet them. but with your mod it would be great thanks
