- Specular maps and normal maps give depth and detail to objects, characters and everything that has texture in game, reducing them makes there less depth but makes it faster for the game load them, this makes them look flat.
Characteristics:
- This mod does not contain scripts or modifications to the game.
- Compatible with any other texture mods, you can set this to the top or bottom of your load order (note that it can be overridden).
- It only affects the specular and normal map textures of the base game and DLCs, no other mod is touched.
- The files are compressed in a BSA and the ESP is empty and is used to load it.
- Since it is in BSA format it can be overwritten by any texture mods that are in your data/textures folder.
- Overwrites 99% of the specular textures and normalmaps in the base game and its DLCs.
- Safe to install or uninstall mid game.
- Textures are in 128x128 pixels of less, compared to the vanilla game which go up to 1024x1024 pixels
Recommendations:
- Use the high graphics config, or a mod with 2k or ultra textures with this as it only overwrites the game's normalmaps and specular maps, it doesn't touch any other textures.
- Characters and npcs look very flat? use the version without characters that you find in the miscellaneous section (this version leaves the beard, hair and eyebrows in ultra-low).
- If you use this with MEDIUM or LOW settings the game use a mipmap of the mod that is in ULTRA-LOW 128x128 pixels, so you game will look with the 64x64 in medium and 32x32 in low textures.
- Beards and hair look very flat? unzip the BSA and delete the actors/characters folder from my mod or use a mod that modifies the characters.
Theory (it works for me):
- If you play with medium or low graphics, I recommend that now with this mod you try the high graphics, and the performance should not affect, on the contrary, it should be maintained or improved.
Personal opinion:
- When I'm playing, I don't stop to see the detail of each object in the game, so it goes completely unnoticed for me and I can play with high graphics, also I prefer stability and performance over visuals, so it's perfect for my laptop :)
