How to add smooth camera feature to custom skeletons (XPMSE) with physics support:

You will need only Nifscope. Open any of my skeletons in Niscope, find Camera3rd [Cam3] node, expand it and there you will find node called BSLagBoneController, right click it -> block -> copy. Open XPMSE skeleton you want to edit with another Nifscope instance. In your XMPSE skeleton find Camera3rd [Cam3] node -> right click it -> block -> paste. And then save your file.
Make sure to create back up. I've tested my mod on vanilla Skyrim, so there may be incompatibilities with other mods.

You can tweak camera smootheness by editing BSLagBoneController properties.

Play with different numbers untill you satisfied.

    Linear Velocity
      - how fast camera will reach it's destination - lesser number = smoother camera movement.
Maximum Distance  - how far camera allowed to lag from character.
Linear Rotation  - To prevent some bugs it's better to set value to 0.

Mod have been updated. Added optional files with applied smooth feature to character movement, so now not only camera is more smooth but also character is moving more smoothly, only drawback is a little slide when movement is stoped. You can tweak smooth parameters in LagBoneController on NPC node of skeleton. More smooth movement - more sliding you will get. There is nothing I can do to prevent this.

Fantastic mod, it trully smoothes the camera movement. Thanks for sharing and provide the method to implement it on custom skeletons.

Also it's possible to get smooth character movement so it won't bounce so much on bumps and stairs, but smooth is applyed in all directions (not only z axis but also x and y) which means character will get small delay when starting to move and a little slide when he stops. If someone instereted I could upload such set up.

      Glad you like mod.
I am using racemenu, XPMSE, SOS and have no issues you described. Basicly adding extra node for camera in skeleton shouldn't influence body proportions at all. Tho maybe there is some compatibility issues with other mods. I have installed about 100 mods and yet haven't issues with my mod everything is working good except forge, workbench, grindstone cameras. If you are  using MO2 or other mod manager try to create new profile with clean game(without mods enabled) then enable racemenu, XPMSE, SOS and my mod. Then test how it's work ingame.

Report: I did exactly what you told me and it worked !!!!! I started a clean new game and added the plugins one by one.
Racemenu - XPMSE - SOS - Himbo, etc. It even works with Floopy HDT Schlongs !!!

The trick for me was to UN-TICK in Mod Organizer the installation folder of your mod or remove it after pasting the node in the skeleton.nif.
      It works great now !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah yeah, my mod is using vanilla skeletons, that's why you've got issues. I could release patch for XPMSE but I can't contact it's author.

Groovtama? Pfff.. long gone now. Try to contact Bakafactory instead, I believe that he is the one that is active on the XPMSE patches due to his awesome mod BHUNP, he should wield all the permission or at least point you in the right direction, also he is very kind and accesible.

Listen, the idea is great. I'm freaking tired of that bouncing. But I am using XPMSE skeleton tuned by myself for different races different faces. I need to know how to add your smooth camera adjustments to the skeletons I'm using. Is that hard to make those adjustments?

Hello. Actually it's very simple. You need only nifscope. Open any of my skeletons and find Camera3rd [Cam3] node, expand it and there you will find node called BSLagBoneController, right click it -> block -> copy. Then go to XMPSE skeleton you want to edit , find Camera3rd [Cam3] node -> right click it -> block -> paste. And then save your file. Make sure to create back up. I tested my mod on vanilla Skyrim, so there may be incompatibilities with other mods.

Okay, I did that. Now I am experiencing a weird camera shift when using furniture: forge, grindstone, arcane enchanter. The camera is shifted to the left with rhythmical moving back to normal position for a brief moment every three seconds. No strange camera behavior when using work bench tho.

BUG REPORT:  Someone in this Forum has experienced the Unpleasant BUG effect of "Undead Skywalkers" that occurs when in combat with Draugrs, suddenly they are suspended in the Air Walking without giving or receiving any damage, this could be caused by some Parameter of the meshes file\ actors\draugr\character assets\skeleton.nif ?

Hello. Do they behave normally without my mod? Maybe some compatibility issue with  some mod? I will see how draugrs behave on clean Skyrim with my mod. Thank you for report.
P.S. Ok I've tested draugrs in the Black Peak - didn't noticed any issues. Must be some other mod causes draugrs fly away :)

Don't worry, it has nothing to do with your Mod, as I indicated in the report, I'm asking if anyone else has had this issue and if maybe it has anything to do with the skeleton.nif

      Sorry if you were alarmed

The mod does smoothens the vertical movements of the character. I think the female physics mods was not compatible with this.

Mod smooth camera movements for vanilla skeletons which have no physics. If you want to use non-vanilla skeletons check mod description I wrote quick instruction how to edit XPMSE skeleton to get smooth camera with it. This way you will get smooth camera with custom skeleton using HDT physics. Hope this helps! Here is video smooth camera with XPSE skeleton (sorry for bad video quality):

Hello. Download my mod. Unzip downloaded archive, go to meshes\actors\character\character assets, open skeleton.nif with nifscope and there you will find BSLagBoneController, copy it and paste to Camera3rd [Cam3] node of your skeleton you are using. That's it. You will get smooth camera on your skeleton.

if I'm moving in stealth mode, then everything is fine, but if I'm sitting still or trying to aim with a bow, the camera jumping every three seconds

What skeleton you are using? Vanilla or XPMSE?

Ok I've tested mod both vanilla and XPMSE skeletons. Vanilla has no jump while sneaking, but with XMPSE I've got camera jump every few seconds just like you described. I will try to fix this. Thank you for finding bug!

      XPMSE

by the way, if I play as a female character, do I need to edit the skeleton.nif in the directory "character assets"
Or only in "character assets female" skeleton_female.nif will be enough?

If you're not gonna play male character you can leave skeleton.nif untouched. Just use skeleton_female.nif.

      • clear.whatever it was, what you did was very cool. This is what has been missing for so long.
I really hope that you will fix it for the XPMSE skeleton.
thank you for what you're doing

Try to set Linear Rotation to 0, and Linear Velocity to 1 for BSLagBoneController node. It fixed for me this annoying camera jump. Or wait while I reupload files. Hope it will work ok.

Yes, thank you, I have already experimented with the parameters. It helped a little. By the way, one more thing. When I use a forge or a whetstone, the camera doesn't work properly. And when the character climbs the stairs, he behaves strangely, some kind of shaking, as if he was electrocuted

Yes I confirm forge camera is turning away from player for some reason, I will see if I can fix this. As for stairs it's just how game physic works. Player collision capsule collides with navmesh and moves player\NPC up-down without any smooth thats why player looks that's weird when camera is moving smoothly. I will experiment more with skeleton and will try to find a way at least reduce this annoying bouncing. This is bugged me for years and I couldn't find any mod that at least minimizing this issue that's why I'm trying to somehow fix this.
