Hey everyone! This is a mod that I uploaded a few years ago. Unfortunately life got in the way. But here it is, back and I have fixed all the bugs that I am aware of. I may or may not make new abilities or perks in the future. I guess I will just see what the interest looks like this time around. I will look into an SE port possibly in the near future as well. Thanks all, Lillysdad2009!
Is anyone having any issues with the level up system not working? I haven't received any feedback about it. So if anyone sees this just let me know if you are able to level up your onehanded skill with unarmed attacks. Please, and thank you.
Hi, great mod! Enjoying it. It's just that in the brawls I think the unarmed combat is considered as one handed weapon (I know, that is the aim of the mod :D ) and so for example when you fight Mikael to convince him to leave in peace Carlotta Valentia he becomes stunned but then the brawl dialog option appears again. And well... I killed Uthgerd and no one cared xD It is a known issue?
Oh wow haha! I haven't seen that one before personally. As soon as I get a chance I will check it out and see if I can fix it. Thank you for letting me know!
Yep, which ever ones you think you would want to download. But not all three. One of the files is for the perk tree. The other files are for the leveling system. One is with more experience, to help you to level faster if desired. But not both
First of all i almost looked up for almost every unarmed related mods on Nexus and couldn't find anything updated, all mods were dead or hella unbalanced or requires us to download script dragon mod which is on external website. However, came across your mod and i should say even though i use Ordinator which i think can cause problems with your mod i will try it out on my new playtrough and will feedback.
Also i must say, your mod presentation is amazing, its readeble and not complicated. I hope you continue to make underrated gem mods or backport good SE ports to LE, cuz i don't have good PC so i can only play Legendary Edition, not SE or AE. Having such an amazing modder like you in LE platform is so valuable :)
Hi, thank you so much for taking an interest in my mod. I truly hope you enjoy it. Ordinator may cause some pretty serious issues with the perks. But as far as the level up system. It should work with no problems either way. Allowing you to level up using unarmed combat. But in exchange for the added perks. Let me know what you think. Kudos
I have read some commentary from frustrated modders trying to make unarmed work within the one-handed tree, and it says something to the skill of lillysdad2009 that this problem has lasted so long before someone found the workaround. The combat perks are a bit beige, so that you will become as effective with unarmed in terms of raw damage, and the evasion mechanic was genius to put into the tree as well. Stunning and penetrating might have added more color, and choice within the unarmed branch for roleplaying and playing style. This would invite lore-breaking nonsense like elemental damage and magical/herbal effects from socking someone in the gob -and I'd rather a simple, sensible unarmed tree than spellfist builds.
Thank you for the insightful comment my friend. I am glad that you enjoyed it, I would definitely consider adding stun, and a perk that would penetrate armor. I think those would be great additions. I felt the same way, it frustrated me that there was no way to level up using unarmed attacks. I know there are more complex, unarmed combat mods on Nexus. But for my personal taste. I enjoy that there are no weapons or claws etc to fuss with. You just unequip everything and that's it. I hope you got the version with the Divine Power add on. I feel it added some depth, outside of just direct damage output. Edit* Yeah I do not like the idea of spellfist builds. I think if you start adding things like that. It isn't truly "Unarmed" combat anymore. I will see about updating the file with the suggested perks as soon as possible. Kudos!
This may or may not be an issue with this mod that I did not notice until building a new character not relying on unarmed. This character's One-Handed does not advance beyond the second "Armsman" perk. I have 55 in One-Handed, which is shown as "55 requires 40" for the next level, but it is shaded grey and I cannot click on it. Out of curiosity, I put one point in the Unarmed branch of the tree to see if it was a ghost of old code calling it a prerequisite, but it made no difference. All other legal perk investments work normally, and all illegal choices are shaded grey and do no click. I would hate having my duelist bard stuck at Armsman 3 the rest of his life. He is so young, lol. Still, this is the only mod I've downloaded recently, and the only one I am using that affects One-Handed. My game could just be buggy, or maybe it is something here.
Thanks for the feedback, I haven't noticed this before. I will check it out now and find out what I can. I appreciate your interest, I would hate to mess up your game.
That was 100% my fault, I uploaded a version with the perk fixed. I was messing around with it, I must have messed up the order. But it's all fixed now. I wasn't able to check the other perks in the tree. I don't remember messing with any of the others, if you have any more issues just let me know. I will make sure to get it fixed as soon as possible, testing is harder than people think sometimes. When ever you let me know that there is an issue, it truly is helpful.
No problem. I will uninstall and load up the fixed version. As I posted, it seems like people have been struggling on this kind of mod for years and yours has done the most for what Bethesda should have done. One bug is no shame to what you've done so far!
Hey, thanks for the interest. As long as you don't download the perk file. There shouldn't be any issues. I don't use Ordinator, but I can imagine the new perk tree would cause some issues. But the actual leveling system, should function normally. If you try it out, and you have problems. Just let me know, and maybe I can look into a patch or two.
I use Ordinator so I've looked into the files for the dowload of the mod without the perks included as you said and there's no file without the perk system included available
No absolutely not, it branches off to the left of the one handed skill tree. All of the original perks are untouched. I appreciate your interest in the mod.
Hey no problem, there is only one version. So the main file should be at the top of the files section. That is the file that has the scripts to make unarmed strikes level up your onehanded skill. The second file is an optional file, that is the file that contains the perks. That I added to the one handed skill tree. I left them separate so people that have mods like Ordinator can still use the leveling system. Without conflicts. If you want the leveling system, with the perks. You will need to download both files, and makes sure that both plugins are activated. I hope this helps, thank you for your interest.
I see, I understand now. Are you able to put your reply in the descriptions? Because the descriptions of the mod appear to be an answer to a question but as I didn't know what the question was, I didn't know what was going on.
Also, it's been a while since I played Skyrim, I totally forgot how to level up one-handed skill, until now anyway haha. Just another question: bare-handed damage doesn't get boosted by one-handed skill by vanilla nor by this mod, right? Because since one-handed can now be training by punching bare-handed (or kicking as well as I have an animation for it that replaces the power move for bare-handed), I wonder if by "balance" you mean having +200% damage total from the vanilla one-handed perk and the new pugilism perk.
May I also request that instead of making the damage from punching not only come from heavy gauntlets but any gauntlets (light as well)? It is not very "immersive" perhaps, but I suppose even light gloves do some damage, just not as much as heavy gloves. Same effect of damage being the same as its armor value to keep the balance.
Hey, I am glad I was able to help you figure some of it out. But no, you won't get any bonus to unarmed damage just from leveling up in One Handed. Not like you would with a sword or mace, the only bonus damage or buffs you receive are from choosing the perks themselves. As far as the addition of the light armor gauntlets, that is definitely something I would consider. Thanks again for taking an interest in my mod.

Great work! I strongly recommend.
