Decided to move entire project over Skyrim Special Edition. I attach link for it. Any updates going to be posted over there. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/94304
Yup, inspiration for it I got from gothic, witcher, dragon age 3 and KCD. Optimisation should not be too problematic as I'm redoing it from scratch 5th month now. And for now I cut down engine usage to 30%
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/109554 Here's some explanation for that. It's gonna be now smaller town for the sake of wilderness and villages outside city
Well, I suppose I could use some help, as for now I'm more architecture oriented, didn't touch clutter or more advanced stuff. Even making my own textures started just 2 months ago after proper knowledge to work in substance painter :)
For anyone interested another video of little preview of my creation here:
Having posted this preview I have a statement to make.
Due to excessive amount of work and vast areas to be covered ahead I decided to cancel this project for the sake of another one. The same but redeveloped in many ways. Old Town was meant to cover 60% of the map (32x32 game cells = 600-700 game cells). New Town will cover almost 150-160 game cells, and the rest going to be open world accessible where half the questline gonna take place. Reasons for that are stated below:
1st. As mentioned, it’s huge. Took me almost 10 months tofinisz just one District (Temple DC). Now Town itself will be divided in: Temple DC, Royal DC, Harbour and Poor DC both nearby (outside city walls), Kings DC with Castle below mountain peak with sight of sea in the view, and Magical Academy in the Island. The rest of the map (50-60%) is going to be farming, forests, valleys, mines, islands, tombs, old ruins, and anything that comes to my mind.
2nd. Optimisation. I tried my town to be modular, that is models used in it are very variable in design, and it takes around 50 to build one house. In Temple DC there is around 120-150 houses, so the game engine gonna burn in lesser potatoes. This time my models gonna be joined together to make it little simpler and linear in design for the sake of optimisation and safety to play without so many bugs.
3rd. Quest line. Entire questline to take place in city populated mostly by humans isn’t gonna use full potential of Skyrim has to offer. Another thing open world is something that describe RPG game nowadays, so keep it close is impractical.
4th. Bigger does not always mean better. Town in it’s sizeis nice to be seen it, but to fil lit with quests, NPC, lively actions will blend too much in wide view. Keeping it little shrinked together is gonna benefit. Many houses in old town would have beed only to sightseeing purposes, and treated as fillers, so nowe ach DC gonna be shrinked, optimized, so that each house counts, each NPC gonna have something to the story. It’s gonna be better.
5th. Time. Time. And again time. A year just to finish one DC when there’s 5 more to do is gonna take long time for finisz, if finisz at all. It would take as much time as to see release of TESVI. So the decission been made.
6th. Besides, I am feeling strong enough with Skyrim tips and tricks to put in action, so that starting over from scratch is not gonna be a hell like before. I already done map, and draw in CK basic layout of the town. This time it’s gonna be even more majestic than it is with the old one, the one seen in videos which I posten via YouTube and over my mod pages.
So wish me luck and keep a warm touch over my progres with creation.
There is a saying that was attached probably to Einstein or other great person. It says: „Nothing is impossible. Some people forsee only worse, think something is impossible, or know it’s impossible. But someone does not know thats it’s impossible and doing it. And in the end, SUCCEEDS”.
I've redesigned wooden front house meshes as well wooden roofs, make it more diverse (from base 44 units to 180 new/redesigned ones). Now remodelling West Downtown and west Riverside to make it more spacious and leave clutter spaces, as on March I didn't know simple CK trick (shift + Q :) And cause on March when making these meshes I was looking for best way to create modular housing to fit close spaces of a town. Besides now I implemented many trees as well my own flora, and my custom grass system. Gonna post preview hopefully next week.
For a preview everyone should wait longer. Since I created and stitched some other texture parts I'm going to remodel and diverse stone/brick models to geometrically fit my way of building world. I plan to enlarge window walls from round 20 variations now to 25 each for 4 different brick pattern (red, gray, cobble and orange). Finally come up an idea of making modular arcades for housing near Market and main streets to look it more imperial. Also I am reorganising my town folder to make it more orderly to work on it smooth, gonna take a while. Only a moder understand this when his looking for certain model and two similar are in different folders/categories. My 4th renaming by the way. Also now I'm doing exact LOD for meshes, as my skills and understanding of Skyrim way of building improved since year before.
Though a very lil preview I attached in pictures section.
Wish I have finished already, yet a lot ahead, and I need to learn how to properly quest my town, like another mod for gothic 2, chronicles of myrtana. Final print need to be polished so not so many bugs should appear.
Work goes smoother once many models are made. Lately I made new stone and brick modular house models, so will finish all lil later. New preview video of Temple District should be released soon. Housing area is done on West Side of the river, in a place of temple decided to do governors mansion, with temple between it and the gate castle. Dunno yet what to do with cemetery area, it will be half its purpose, and half housing. I'll redo east downtown, as its poor in diversity (was early stage of town now needed correction). Done little park area, as well market square (yet to be built). So everyone keep in touch.
Glad you like it, work goes sometimes slowly, cause I spend more than 70% time on making models instead actually building mod. When maybe 75% models will be done (estimate I created 25-35 % of what I have in mind) the job will be done quicker :)

Kinda reminds me of gothic, will probably be absolute suffering on the CK engine tho lmao

Wish you the best of luck. mate.
I'd like to offer my help, but rn i'm just focusing my efforts on my own stuff. Maybe later if you are ever in need of an extra hand to deal with LD

In just a month I covered round 15 cells, when West Downtown took me almost 3 months and its only 5.5 cells.
So everyone keep in touch.
