Hey, gUISTASSI! Can you make a patch for 'super double dildos' at LoversLab?

    (Just trolling, lol)

I absolutely adore this mod, but I think I'm having an issue. Many of the gems, when viewed in my inventory, don't look as they do when they are in the game world. For example the Flawless Ruby, when in my inventory, isn't red at all and just has the rock texture for the whole model. Is this intended or is it something that's out of your hands?

: Are you using some sort of ENB? Depending of which ENB you use there's a chance that the gems may look weird as I did them using Vanilla's Graphics. The gems also have a rock type texture layer that comes with them, maybe you have a setting in your game that's messing the textures' alphas.
Another possibility is your Anisotropic Filtering being low, set it around 8x or 16x to see if something changes.

But the best thing would be you posting a screenshot (or video) of your issue. That would help a lot.

I am using an ENB yes, but regardless of whether its effects are enabled or disabled the issue persists. Same goes for Anisotropic Filtering. Here are some images of the Flawless Ruby for example: ENB, ENB disabled, no ENB and non-inventory.

The loose model is completely fine, I only ever have visual issues when the gems are in my inventory.

: That's relatively new to me. I don't recall people reporting this. Somehow in your inventory, the game is disabling the textures' Alpha Blending because that rocky texture is an extra alpha layer.
Have you looked around other items that uses alpha like the Paragons, Wisp Wrappings, Ice Wraith Teeth, Glow Dust or other Vanilla items?
When you mention many of the gems, does it mean there's one that's working as it should? If yes, which?

Also, by curiosity, are you using this mod on a Skyrim Special Edition? Did you converted this mod to work with it?

About the ENB, I don't recall if this function still exists (and I dunno if it's the correct one) but, try to find the Option Post Processing and disable it on your ENB menu and see if something happens.

I'll look around to replicate the issue but it will pretty hard on my part since ENBs does not work in my game and all gems are displaying here correctly.

The gems that I've noticed with issues have been both ruby variants, non-flawless amethyst, non-flawless garnet and non-flawless diamond. When I look at some of the others, though, they don't seem to shine in the same way as they do in your images and I did notice that at some angles with the Flawless Ruby I did see a slight red shine. Barely, though.

Here are some more images for example: Petty Soul Gem, Lesser Soul Gem, Common Soul Gem, Greater Soul Gem, Grand Soul Gem, Kagrumez Resonance Gem, Amethyst Paragon (each looked identical besides in colour, of course.) Here is what my Ice Wraith Teeth and Wisp Wrappings look like as well.

I am indeed playing on SE, but I did try both converting this mod's assets and then not doing so at all. Nothing actually changed. If it is an issue with Special Edition only I really do apologise for wasting your time.

: I compared the problematic gems' meshes you mentioned with the ones working fine. They don't seem to have any issues and their settings are fine, their alphas were worked correctly like any mesh in Skyrim and all were tested on a pure and modded vanilla game before I could launch the mod.

You mentioning they don't shine like the original reminded me experiencing once this when I decided to give a try with ENBs. Skyrim's overall specular was messed up along with meshes containing cubemaps. I remember disabling the option Post Processing which helped me in this part but I latter disposed of the ENB because I saw nothing constructive from it. Also I noticed Parallax not having good results with certain ENBs and there's even specific mesh replacer Mods designed for that purpose.

If using the originals and even converting the meshes had no effect in the game I doubt it might be SE's fault but since I don't have SE I can't guarantee either. On the other hand maybe the texture conversion might be the cause as some of them have alpha masks to display things correctly, or SE works with another type of texture I'm not aware of and is incompatible with the ones I worked.

I tried to set a ENB to run and replicate the issue but none of them works and my game always crashes, this is maybe related to my graphic card type and I no longer have patience to deal with it anymore.

The last hope I think that maybe should help is finding in your SkyrimPrefs.ini the bFloatPointRenderTarget and setting to zero to disable it:

      bFloatPointRenderTarget=0

I've saw people around commenting that this option must be on because ENBs needs that but also this option messes around the game's specular and lighting hence some objects may appear a little dark than others. This is what I managed to see from the pics you've taken. The Kagrumez gem, for example, shows exactly as it should be but it's a little darker than usual because its specular is "missing".

If disabling ENB and bFloatPointRenderTarget still not give any results I really have no idea who's the culprit, but if it does, then, you'll have to bear with the issue because I didn't made this Mod for ENBs.

    This is a cool mod.
I immediately downloaded and installed it, but found a small flaw.
Diamonds reflect so much light that they appear completely white without showing any shape or texture.
I hope a version with reduced color brightness or light reflection of diamonds will be released.

      Yes.
There may be an ENB influence as well, but basically, in your screenshot with all the jewels on the bar table, only the diamonds are overly shiny.

: Skyrim has lots of dynamics in lighting and shading and sometimes, something usually dark, like ebony armour, appears completely black. ENBs heavily influence that too. Your monitor's configuration may affect your game too. I usually do all Lighting and Shading test on different image spaces of the game before officially finishing some item or object.

I'll consider look on the diamonds and tweak them on a bright future. At least their "too shiny" problem you have may help you track them easily if they are scattered in a dungeon, specially dark ones as gems are small and easy to miss when looting.

    Nice work!

Just a heads up. The texture paths in the meshes are going all the way to your drive (ie, c:\games\the elder scrolls v - skyrim - legendary edition\data\textures\_gems\silver.dds). This may cause the game to not display the gems as they should be., for some users.

: I had a similar conversation with JobVanDam about this when he was patching the gems to work with Immersive Jewellery. He pointed me that out. I don't know why for certain users this doesn't work but for others, Skyrim seems to ignore whatever path comes before Data, that's the root directory. As long as the texture path is exactly after Data things may display correctly.

I did a test making a random path before Data and my game still showed the textures properly but after Data, it was messed up.

Still, I probably forgot to fix this. Thx for the reminder     ;3

I installed this mod just to take a look and check it thinking "it's going to be meh" like, every gem replacer was generic ultra HD polished gems, they stood out too much, and found it kinda of strange when mining in gem ores to get this perfectly cut pieces, but I literally cannot explain the pure feeling of satisfaction I got when I looked through my gems in the inventory, I stared at them for a while, beautiful models every single one is so unique and look like real gems, perfect for immersion thanks a lot!

: I thought those raw gems would easily be discarded by the community due to lack of interest of people looking for this matter. Never imagined that ugly raw gems would call attention of many in matter of days. This satisfaction you mention when seeing them is how they behave when you spin them against sunlight or another ambient with high clarity in real life. Their inclusions are the secret and that was possible to replicate with parallax in Skyrim, not 100% exact but already something.

: Hidden gem for me is to discover that some SE users still looks for LE contents to use in SE. Usually many would come asking to convert to SE.

Added to the list of "things we didn't know we needed". :D

Do they replace ALL gems, or only the ones mined out of ores? (I imagine the former, but if the latter, I'm impressed.)

Judging by the contents of the mod, they simply replace all gems in a way they look like.
In vanilla Skyrim there are no RAW gems, you somehow mine out already faceted and polished gems. So separating "freshly mined" and "polished" gems would be a lot of work, you'll need to create a whole sub-category of items for RAW gems, implement an in-game way to polish them, set up prices and create a shitload of compatibility patches with anything that touches mine veins, gems, jewellry etc.

      In short, not doable.

: It would not be hard to develop this but a work to consider. However it's hard for me to take care for patches, that's why I left the mod as a Resource free so people can patch it for other more popular mods, such as Immersive Jewellery.

Yeah, considering all the compatibility, it's a hassle. I switched off Immersive Jewelry for my current playthrough because it didn't fit in with my Requiem+Legacy of dragonborn combination.
