WHY DOES THIS WIG NOT LOOK RIGHT? Not all wigs will look perfect on every character. Some of these hairstyles do have minor imperfections or may have clipping issues. There is nothing I can do about it.
* Wigs do not work on Argonians nor Khajiits. * All wigs can be worn by either male or female but some female hairs will not look good on men. * Wigs originally created for only men are denoted by " M_ " before their name. * Darker hair colors tend to show more imperfections than lighter colors.
FUTURE PLANS This mod now contains 250 wigs. There will be no more updates. Hopefully you'll find a wig that suits your needs. Thank you to everyone who gave this mod a try.
HOW TO ADD WIGS TO YOUR GAME 1. The easiest and recommended way is to use the mod AddItemMenu to easily add the wigs, and any item in the game, via menu.
2. Use console commands: - press the tilde key to open the console - type help followed by the name of the wig and press enter. For example, if you want the Alba wig, type: help alba - A list of items will appear. Find the one labeled ARMO and note the eight character alpha numeric code next to it. - type player.additem [enter the code with out brackets] 1 The item should now appear in your inventory. The " 1 " after the code indicates the number of items. Type a two and you'll get two wigs.
NOTE: Due to the way Skyrim Legendary Edition handles the wigs, only black wigs can be equipped on NPCs and to change the hair color on your character you will need to enter "showracemenu" to change the color.
Unfortunately, resolving this issue involves more time and skills than I can commit to at this time. If the above issues are not an issue with you, as it appears it is not an issue for many by the number of downloads, then the mod still works well.
The SE version of the mods works well so if you are looking for an excuse to make the switch the Special Edition, feel free to use this.
There is a temporary workaround You can equip a wig onto your character, change the color in Racemenu, and then equip that wig onto an NPC. It will keep the color you changed it to but only until you leave the game. Thanks to popkorn666 for that tip.
i am currently having this weird issue where, if i search up the wigs in AddItemMenu mod, moving mouse to some of the wigs name crashes the game. Does anyone know why this is happening?
HDT hair tends to break my immersion. It sometimes flakes out and stretches across the screen, especially if multiple characters are using HDT. But the biggest immersion issue is having hair moving contrary to what I would expect. For example, hair moving as if in the wind while indoors or in a cave. Hair moving too much or not enough considering the weather.
I had a conversation with the author of this mod where I explained that I had a problem with the equipping of any wig.
To first put things straight, I don’t use the wigs on my own male character. I only use them for other female npc’s.
Here it goes; When I equipped the wig on a npc I noticed that there became a gap between the hip and the weapon placed on the hip. It took me awhile to figure out what was causing this but I found it by comparing this mod with other wig mods that I have installed.
Long story short, If you have the same problem do the following:
Open this mod in TES5Edit, go to Armor Addon. Click on the wig you want to change. In the right panel you look for the section DNAM-Data. And then look for Weapon Adjust. You see it says 1.000000 Now change this to -4.000000
Ohs how strange. I wanted to ask specifically about a Multi NPC replacer with both males and females. I would never have asked for a single NPC replacer. Either a bunch of images were removed, or I had waaaayy too much to drink that day. lols
Is the color change on Racemenu permanent or temporary ? because i have tried this before with other wigs and that works , but when i stop playing and relaunch the game later , the original color is back .
actually, much easier than messing w racemenu all the time (the color often resets after going thru loading doors but definitely goes away upon reloading save), is just change the color in the nif. oddly enough, i've never had much change if i change the texture color. seems a hair's color is mainly controlled by the nif.
lets say u want a hair blonde. open the nif in nifskope, then expand the 2 nitrishapes. click on BSLightingShaderProperty and clik Hair Tint Color. there's a round ball w red yellow n blue. click that and a color wheel will popup. set the lil circle around the color u want. clik ok and the hair tint black bar will change to show a preview of the color. remember the color is usually alot brighter ingame, so for sandy realistic blond u'd set the color wheel at sorta brown orange... then repeat this process for the 2nd BSLightingShaderProperty.
try to get each bslighting at close to the same color. i just eyeball it but u can write down the 3 sets of numbers and use the same numbers in each bslight. i've heard if the 2 colors are really far apart u can get flickering ingame, but i've never had issues just eyeballin it. if u want the wig a diferent color later, do the same again or u could clone armoraddon and armor pieces in tesedit and make separate color wigs.
also i've noticed quite a few wigs have an unnecessary 59 slot in armor addon (wine, yuna, violet are a few. most with names that're in the u-v-w alphabet range. haven't checked all). this causes u to unequip anything in slot 59 just to wear your wig. for me i have belts, pauldrons ect that use 59. the wig doesn't need that slot so might wanna remove it in tesedit. hope this helps someone!
I just went through the mod in SSE Edit and found 12 that had slot 59 for some reason. I have no idea how that got in there but I'll have to clean it up. If anyone else has an issue with that right now you can quickly delete the slot very easily in SSE Edit or use the Creation Kit.

This tutorial I created works for LE, SE, and AE.
It has over 1,000 wigs from various hair mods, including nearly 700 wigs from KS Hairdos. The 250 from this mod are included in those.
