I must sadly give this mod an F; there's no alternate file to work with Basic Skyrim. I was looking forward to petting my new guard husky and i just CTD with this installed :<
Love your mod sir. Thank you. I just want to say can you add abit simple bonus like when you pet your dog it gets a slight buff like stamina increase or something like bonding increase with player..
Funny this is on the trending page now, given that a very similar mod was uploaded not too long ago, but was removed quickly because the mod author apparently didn't like dealing with the modding community. A lot of people were complaining how how his mod didn't automatically line you up for the animation. His mod btw also included petting animations for horses.
Grab it now while you can, before it disappears! (jk) I remember seeing that mod, but I never had the chance to grab it. There are some old videos showing it though.
And well, I don't know about that mod, but I haven't received a single negative comment, not here (51 comments) and not in the SE page (113 comments), quite the opposite :)
Petting horses (among dozens other types of NPC interactions) will be part of a bigger mod I'm working on, this is just a small preview of what's coming.
I have that mod. I wanted to try something different that didn't use dialogue. This one is automatic when attempting to activate the dog...or wolf. But there must be some discrepancies. With the 2 mods running together, I can't seem to take any of them as pet followers. I have yet to try to eliminate the old one to see if it made any difference. I know that the dogs become follower pets in the same way that the petting is initiated with this mod. The other mod was through dialogue and didn't affect this. Once a dog is activated, it usually doesn't matter whether you have dialogue come up for the dog or not, they are now following you and should have pet follower dialogue now. The same action that, with this mod, triggers the petting. So I don't know if it is the 2 mods together or something else.
Ok, I had to say that I don't even have this mod. I was getting it confused with the Immersive Interactions mod that I installed about a couple of months ago. But, it sounds like this one might be causing the same issue with AFT and adopting pet companions. I completely forgot about Immersive Interactions doing this too with pets and horses which is why I never installed this one even though I had been checking it out. It also does the petting on interaction instead of through dialogue. My appolagies though for getting the two mixed up.
Recruiting pets by activating them works fine in this mod and Immersive Interactions. Just interact twice with the dog (The first interactions will be for petting, second for vanilla activation). Just activate it twice basically to get the vanilla default behaviour.
Please note, not all dogs are recruitable though. The dog will bark at you when you talk to it (that's just vanilla) and if they don't follow you, it's cause they are not supposed to become followers.
Summary: My mod does not remove or alter the vanilla activation in any way, it just hides it behind a second activation. After petting a dog, you have about 5 seconds in which activating the dog again allows the vanilla interaction to take place.
I like this mod and have just started using it. One negative seems that it overrides AFT. I hope I can bring down AFT in my load order so that I can have both. If that doesn't work, I am sadly going to have to let this mod go unless you can come up with a solution. Hopefully, Mara.
Ahhh, maybe that is why I can't adopt any pet followers. Well that sucks, but the other mod that uses dialogue to pet the dogs does work with AFT so I guess I will keep that one and eliminate this one. Thanks for sharing.
Aww... this is exactly what I was looking for. Also, the compression format was wrong according to my mod manager, so I had to change it to .zip. But, then again, I am using old nmm. So, maybe that was the actual problem. Regardless of it, many thanks.
