For reference to those who are confused as to what combination of the FOMOD is the best: (and what the difference between Ultimate HD Fire Effects is)

After hours of testing, I came to the conclusion that Normal Brightness --> Freesia --> UHD Tiles --> 2x Area is the best, and gives the most realism.

First: The Difference between UHDFE and Inferno:

Inferno is technically the spiritual successor of UHDFE. And it subtly shows (personally it took me a while to notice). The flames are more...rich and full, and Inferno's makes UHDFE's look a bit fake when comparing the two.

    Second: Brightness

Me picking normal brightness is purely preference. The brighter option is more realistic (obviously you can't stare at a light source that intense) since fire should be blinding, but you cannot see the subtleties of the fire (the wisps and such).
The Normal Brightness is a good in-between of realistic (it still is honestly bright), and UHDFE, which is once again, a bit thin and not as rich as Inferno's.

    Third: Color

This was the only part in the FOMOD that the original Mod Author gave a recommendation toward. And I agree--. Simple as that.

    Fourth: Tiles

I couldn't find a difference regarding the spells, but saw a difference in the fireplace--the UHDFE flames were more akin to random shoots of where the flame would go (more realistic), while the new tiles that Inferno offers are more linear, like the afterburner exhaust of a Need for Speed car, if that makes sense.

    Fifth: Area

Normal 1x area when using the Flames spell isn't as realistic--if you think about a flamethrower, the flames go linearly, but billow and spill out at the end. 4x area is too big, and 2x gives that effect of realism.
(Note that the area does not affect the spell's area of effect.)

I thanked you in person, but I might as well thank you again--thanks for porting this, Carrumbum--saved a lot of people the pain of backporting individually.

    Hello Carrumbum
Started a new game, went to riften to pick up inigo, went there at night, and having a weird thing with torches I don't know how to attempt a fix, or what mod might be causing, it, tried re installing the mod and choosing different things, even chose the optional mesh choice  at the end didn't make any difference ...
Holding a torch is fine, but wall  torches have this weird blue ish smoke  that didn't seem, right to me ... took a screenshot

    Hi friend,

I had an issue with fireplaces, and since this is a port from SE, i went there to take a peek. As it turns out, embers hd SE gained one texture and different texture paths from its LE counterpart. So when you install the patch that comes with this mod, this will happen:
    Spoiler:
    Show

When i install the SE textures (which luckily are not compressed in BC7 so anyone can do it easily), the fires show as they should.
    Spoiler:
    Show

The author of inferno editing LE meshes to fix the issue probably won't happen, so probably asking permission to include the embers hd se textures with this mod is more feasible.

If not, it's either a disclaimer informing the players about downloading and using the correct textures, or removing the patch from the package, since le fireplaces will bug out.

I am unable to recreate this issue.Do you have the MFG Console installed so you could potentially give me some more information by clicking on the firepit itself and send a screenshot?

Also, do you have any other fireplaces/fire mods installed like KD Fireplaces or anything?

I see now that i've made a mistake on my end. Please, disregard the first screenshot, i uninstalled the mod and then took the picture (doh). And the extra files are from EHDFireplacesFX, which aparently is not the one used to make the patch for this mod. The mxash.dds and its normal are only files needed.

I'm having the same problem did you figure it out?

Edit: if anyone has this issue in the future, I fixed it by going into the Meshes>>Effects folder of the mod, and deleting fxfirewithemberslogs01.nif

      Hope this helps someone!

    When casting flames,
does the fire that clings to objects after impact,
    cast light while it's active?

    Hello ,
I seem to be having an issue, I've not long started a new game,.  and start always  in realm or lorkhan , so didn't notice this issue there, ...
When I spotted this mod, I thought it looked nice , but after installing and popping thru to riverwood, I have absolutely No Lanterns or lamposts with lanterns showing anywhere on such outside of cities  , then only thing I see are sign posts and braziers ??
I use darker nights mod, better torches , candles and lanterns mod  and that's it , I don't think its this mod, I installed with mo2, I chose, normal- firese, 2s, new , as for patches - none , didn't need them...
But when night time fell  it was almost pitch black, use very dak setting from dark nights  mod, ...
I have no idea why All my lantern lamp post are missing .... I updated  with your latest, but no change for me
Migh troubleshoot, with a new dummy start minus any of those mods n see whats what

      Hello!

This mod should not remove anything from the game, it only changes the fire textures. Your lanterns and lamposts should still be there, maybe you selected the fireplace patch when installing or there is a patch there you may of needed.

Give it some troubleshooting or even yet, uninstall Inferno and see if it goes back to normal.

Perhaps I could see your load order?

Thanks I completely forgot about adding load order to spoiler tags, I installed LoS mod lanterns of skyrim, which put lamp post back on the path for me, I did uninstall this , with no change I really really don't know why they're all missing, I disabled all my mods in mo2 and did a test with just skyrim and dlc's and still no vanilla lamp post along pathways....

skyrim le has needed an new flame tex mod for years. both le fire mods that are popular have an issue with black lines around fire. this can be made near or totally invisible by lowering AA but i dont play with jaggies. Does this have that issue i wonder, being a backported mod? tracked for sure

I personally have not noticed the black lines, I'd love to see some examples!

I've made the change to Inferno for good now. I recommend having the flame X 2 bigger when installing, gives great immersion. Also don't use the brighter option especially if you have an ENB or a mod that effects the light of fire.

I'll upload some comparison images soon!

Let Inferno overwrite as it uses its own meshes + testures for the flames.

You could also try it both ways and see what it looks like I suppose :-p
