i think 75% is a bit too harsh for a speed penalty and taking health damage with my head above water doesn't seem right, still interesting reminds me of old school games
Hmm... Some observations. Once someone learns to swim they may get a little exhausted but you won't suffer damage unless you sink. It would have been much better to erode stamina than health. This would give another reason to boost stamina over health. Add in the fact that there have been people who have swam over 20 miles without drowning and it becomes a bit silly that your character suffers so badly just for being in water. So not immersive or realistic in my opinion.
Swimming should be done at a quarter running speed and reduce stamina equally. If you get exhausted then swimming speed should be very slow but you should be able to tread water to regain it.
The one other problem is that many areas have fast moving currents that in reality should not be there and would make it impossible to cross with slow swimming.
Then your average Dragonborn is a well honed athlete, so should be able to swim a considerable distance without too much effort.
The name of the mod is: Drowning - A Mod Where You Cant Swim. The whole point is that you cannot swim. If you could just hangout in the water and have there be no danger, it wouldn't really achieve the goal of the mod.
If you want a mod that mostly just affects swim speed, I recommend Nitor's: Better Swimming
In that case just apply a weight limit where they sink to the bottom as with very old diving gear. Wearing a water breathing item would still keep them alive.
That might not be easy but it would definitely be "immersive".
This is what I was looking for! It seemed simply stupid to be able to swim to Atmora and back with the heavy armor on at such a speed.. and without any kind of damage. Endorsed! T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U- S-I-R !
