I like your sword the design suit my taste perfectly thank you!
But everytime i draw the sword or choose it in favorites(Q) in a middle of fight it always freeze for a sec like 2 or 3 seconds, plss help notice me senpai <3
I know you didn't ask me, but perhaps I can give you some suggestions.
First it's the scabbard. If it's made in lacquered wood it's quite amazing, but if it's leather, then it's too shiny (just say it's laquered wood and you're ok). Not sure how you tone down the shininess in Skyrim (in Oblivion you had to make the normal map file transparent, the lower alpha the less shiny it was). The handle its good, but if you feel like, adding some decorations (just creating them in the normal map file it should be enough) will give the sword a more real feeling.
The other big problem is the blade. Don't know the model you're trying to reproduce, but if it's a normal steel sword, the blade should be shinier and... well, more steel like colour. Your blade seems more a stone blade than a metal one. The gem in the pommel could be better with some transparence and more reflectiveness.
I myself am very bad with texturing things, so all I can suggest you is to take a peek on how other sword textures are made (expecially the blade). I remmeber the Worrior Within Weapons had some good blades in them (I felt them really metal like, but I reeeeeally like shiny new blades, not used ones). Billyro has a collection of excellent weapons if you want to check his work too. If you go for the used look, some scratches on the blade and the hilt could really help a lot.
Thank you for your insight, The scabbard and upper handle are indeed lacquered wood, the upper handle has a twist with grooves that are modelled in rather than being in the normal map and a metal spacer, the lower handle is flush wrapped leather which would be comfortable for a variety of grips in real life (I try to make things grounded in reality), I was going for more of a satin finish on the blade than a reflective one but it could probably be brighter. and the gem has a glow effect that I didn't like in conjunction with transparency and having it transparent would show the hole in the mesh there, because it has a glow map on it I can't put an environment map on it like the rest of the blade. for reference this is the sword it is based on https://warnerbros.fandom.com/wiki/Excalibur_(Quest_for_Camelot) Thank you for your suggestions I'll definitely bear a lot in mind for my next revision of it
