Thanks to everyone who left a nice comment!

    10 July 2022

Version 2.4 is a long overdue update with many improvements I made over time. Namely the normal maps are now perfectly restored, and specular maps were redone as well. Many of the creatures with fur now have scratch made specular maps that better represent the improved fur in the diffuse. I also revisited many other textures like the Elk/Deer and Werebear, and added my first iteration of the Goat. Lastly, I decided to remove some creatures from the pack, as I am not using them anymore personally due to better alternatives being available. Older versions will always stay for people who happened to like them of course.

    20 March 2021

Version 2.3 adds new textures for all Deer and Elk variants and merges the Serpentine Dragon retexture into the main archive. The latter has been much improved from the standalone release. I also revisited the Frost Giant and Kaarstag in this update.

    26 February 2021

Added work in progress Serpentine Dragon retexture in 8K resolution. I disabled its backlight map (its just a black 4 by 8 pixel texture with black alpha now) as it produced weird side effects and pixilation. Not sure if it will be further improved, but it should still be the best choice for this creature.

    14 February 2021

Version 2.2 adds a new version of my Ice Wraith retexture, as well as improvements for the Ash Spawn, Bear, Mudcrab, and Skeever.

    17 January 2021

Version 2.1 merges the Alduin and Mammoth retexture into the main archive and brings improvements for a lot of creatures. I used new techniques for fur, and took some user feedback into account. For example, the Werebear is now a bit darker and on the brownish side. This differs from the vanilla color tone, but I think its a big improvement. Fur is now much more detailed and softer, the previous versions were a bit rough. Check out the changelog and screenshots for more details.

    13 January 2021

Added work in progress Alduin retexture in 8K resolution. Not much happened since I posted the first screenshots half a year ago. He just got some final touches, a new normal map, and improved eyes.

    28 August 2020

Added work in progress Mammoth retexture in 4K resolution. For now its an update file, I will merge it with the main download later.

    25 August 2020

Version 2.0 contains everything I've been working on over the past months. As many of the textures in 1.0, these were sitting in my working folder for way too long now. All of them got a short pass before release, but not everything is considered finished. Check out the screenshots and decide for yourself. Don't expect other updates like this in quick succession, as the backlog is now cleared.

Are there any plans to port this to Skyrim SE?

The mod already works in SE as is, no porting necessary.

Awesome textures really! Especially, since you're covering some of the "more rare" creatures like Ash Hoppers and Chaurus Hunters for example. It's really hard to find decent retextures for those. Thank you!

Talking about these two especially, do you think it would be possible to create matching retextures of the corresponding food (Ash Hopper Meat and Leg) and ingredient (Chaurus Hunter Antennae) items?

Thanks! Regarding covering more rare creatures, that's where the mod name comes from, heh.

I will look into these items once I get around working on the mod again. Make sure to check out mods that cover misc items like Misc Retexture Project by IWantATardis. I often skip things because its already sufficiently covered by others.

Thank you for the reply! I have checked other mods and could not find any retexture for the mentioned 3 items. However, your comment made me do some digging within the Vanilla BSA's:

      Ash Hopper Meat:
This mesh actually uses the textures used for the Ash Hopper itself and for Ash Hopper Jelly, so if I use your mod and something like Dragonborn Ingredients, I'm already covered for that one (sorry I didn't check before).

      Ash Hopper Leg:
This one uses its own texture, but I think half of that texture should be possible to be copied from your mod, which only leaves the "meaty" part of the leg (see first Screenshot) where it was supposed to be "attached" to the Hopper.

      Chaurus Hunter Antennae:
This one uses its own texture also, and I think a part of your texture could be copied for this one as well, which again only leaves the "meaty attachment" (see second Screenshot).

Some of the best textures I've ever downloaded for Skryim. Fantastic stuff. Thanks for sharing!

I can look at it, but its covered by Kajuan already and that's good enough for me.

This is an invaluable and precious resource lol. Works fine with SE. I used NIF Optimizer to test the bear model. Most of these look better than Project Clarity's textures at half the resolution while still following the vanilla templates. More detail less pixellation. I pulled your mod apart into individual packages for each creature so I could use only the ones I wanted. Bonus most are compatible with FusaFusa where it applies. The wolves and dogs look great! That mammoths look AWESOME! I use many of your LE texture replacers in SE. Your work is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Thanks for the kind words! I try not to waste people's time by providing worse alternatives to what's already available. I am a mod user myself after all, and I see no point in redoing things already covered by other authors. Currently this is not true anymore as Gamwich covered Alduin, and I prefer his take on him over everything else. I also missed that CaBaL already covered the Chaurus. I will likely separate these from the main archive in the next update.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. You are a great modder and cover lots of stuff. I'm using a lot of your mods.

Yes I am using CaBaL's Chaurus and Gamwiches dragons. A lot of the stuff here isn't covered anywhere else though. Dogs and Mammoths in particular. All the mods for those aren't very good or don't work as well as they should. Yours are MUCH better.

Thanks for all the hard work!

Thank you! You're saving me from Dawnguard/Dragonborn pixelated mess ^^
