A mod I can't live without, it just makes too much sense. Looked for this all week, and finally tried 'carry' as a search. Not gonna lie, this name is a bit hard to pull up easily.
But either way, thank you so much for this mod! Quite essential for immersive playthroughs.
I love the idea of this mod and I can't believe I've only just come across it. It's sad that it seems to have died so soon after release. I came across it when trying to decide whether to go for the Steed as my permanent birthsign with Complete Character Creation Overhaul and a mod like this makes it much less useful and therefore other signs more tempting! I think it makes total sense, you don't feel like you're carrying what you're wearing. I'd love to see an updated version of this mod for SE.
I really like the idea of this, it is by far easier to carry a load distributed about the body; it's easier to wear an armour than just lob it around.
I think the problem with unequiped identical sets is a basic game engine issue, the Steed stone and the perks have the same problem. Maybe with SKSE or Scriptdragon it could detect the actual item equipped, I'm not sure.
Unfortunately the bug is caused by the same perk entry point "Mod Armor Weight" used for all of them (Steed stone, Unhindered perk, Conditioning perk). That function is totally broken since Skyrim 1.4 and gets wrongly applied to the baseID of the armors, not to their single references (this would affect only those you're wearing). Hope it's not widely used in the game. Any other 3rd party mod using that function will be buggy too. Another engine issue by Bethesda modders can't fix.

Excellent mod. I highly recommend the author of the mod to rename it into: "Equipped Gear Weights less" or something like that (The word Equip clears things about what the mod does). This will distinguish better this mod, from the rest of the plethora of mods in Nexus that are modifying the item weights but not the equipped item weights. Good job, I endorse it! ^_^
I love it! Please, can you make different versions? 80%, 70%, 60%?
I can confirm the bugs reported by mailor when you have more of the same type of shield/armor. It's a bug introduced after Skyrim 1.4 like for the Unhindered perk bug (see at the bottom of this page).
Is there any way this could be implemented to affect npcs as well? Say followers? Because I modded my game to only have 50 carry weight for all races and while this works for my character because I get reduced weight from wearing armor, I can't give an npc a full set of armor because they're not getting a reduced weight from equiping it.
