This mod doesn't provide flight or character animations, the Flying Mod does. Please run FNIS or Nemesis to update your animation behaviors, as is required by all FNIS or Nemesis mods. The Flying Mod's animations should work after that.

It sounds like you have missing or corrupted files. Try redownloading and reinstalling the mod. Also make sure you don't have any of the older wing mods still installed (Animated Feathered Wings, Animated Dragon Wings, or Animated Fairy Wings) as this mod includes all of those and those older versions may cause conflicts.

That's probably your problem. SE and LE meshes and animations are not compatible. You probably have some leftover SE files.
      I suggest:
      1. uninstall and delete all versions of this mod.
      2. Look at the AWU SE file structure and ensure you don't have any remnants of it in your Data folder (particularly in the Meshes folder).
      3. Download and install the LE version of this mod again. Everything should work fine after that.

As for character flight animations, that's a different mod. Just make sure to run FNIS or Nemesis after installing the Flying Mod and it should work fine. I also recommend installing my personal rework from this mod's optional files to vastly improve the Flying Mod's performance, fix several bugs, add full controller support, and much more.

      Terms/abbreviations
AWU: Animated Wings Ultimate (this mod)
LE: Legendary Edition (the original 32-bit version of Skyrim. This Nexus site is for this version.)
SE: Special Edition (the modern 64-bit version of Skyrim)
AE: Anniversary Edition (same as Special Edition, just with added Creation Club content)

      Uninstalling and deleting mods
This depends on your mod manager (or lack thereof) but you should already be familiar with this process given what you told me you've already done.

      Viewing mod file structure
You can do this in two different ways:

      • Go to the "Files" tab of the Nexus mod page in question. Find the mod/file you want to view and click the "Preview File Contents" button. This will bring up a window displaying the mod's file structure and all of its contents.
      • Find the packed mod file on your PC (this can be done by downloading the mod manually or if using Vortex, this can be done under Mods->Open...->Open Mod Staging Folder so long as the mod is still installed) and view the mod file contents in Windows Explorer.

I'm assuming you're on Skyrim LE since you're posting on this site. Now that we're hopefully on the same page, I suggest:

      • Delete/uninstall all versions of this mod (both LE and SE).
      • View the file structure of this mod's SE versionďťż (as described above) and compare that to the files in your Skyrim\Data folder. Delete any files that may be left over. There shouldn't be any if you properly uninstalled the mod but there probably are given you're encountering this issue.
      • Re-download this mod and re-install it. Everything should be working correctly from this point on.

Sort of confused on how to start flying? The MCM menu only shows me a function to customize a button for toggling on or off the wings. I don't have an option to toggle flying. Also what's the difference between the two main files? I installed the first one and Flying mod and all of its requirements, ran fnis but still no actual flying. I can glide but how do you fly? What's the default button for that?

EDIT: Nevermind, I downloaded the wrong version. If anyone has a similar issue be sure to get the second mainfile not the first one. I tried flying and holy crap it's so seamless and beautiful. Amazing work. Endorsed.

Please refer to the SkyUI mod page for MCM details. The short version is that all MCMs are accesses in the pause menu under the "Mod Configuration" option (in the same list as Save, Settings, etc.).

That mod works using DAR. DAR-based mods don't create new animation events so they would not be able to send any unique trigger events to the wings. In short, you'd have to completely overhaul the levitation mod to use Nemesis or something similar if you wanted full functionality and animations. This is not something you would be able to do with just xEdit.
You can use Anton's Behavior Files Creator tool to create your own custom wing behaviors so they will animate based on your preferred events, but again, DAR mods don't create new events so you'd probably end up with wings that flap at all times (even when walking or standing) if you wanted them to work with a DAR-based mod.
Is there some reason you don't want to use the Flying Mod (recommended) or Real Flying? Real Flying has collisions but it's more intrusive, less responsive, and doesn't have integrations with this mod like the Flying Mod does. That's why I recommend the Flying Mod. I'd love for the Flying Mod to have collisions myself as well but in practice, the lack of collisions isn't a big problem in my experience since it's so responsive and easy to control. I simply choose not to fly into things, and I don't. I'd recommend that you at least give it a try with my personal rework (from this mod's optional files) if you haven't already. It will give you a great experience without having to do a ton of work.

Howdy! Quick question: does this mod work with More Draconic Dragon Aspect? Cause I have many ideas for characters now but I need my epic Dragon Aspect xD

Edit: It does not work with More Draconic Dragon Aspect despite having the same dragon wings. I'm sad. Gotta figure out a different way.
Edit the second: I give up. My brain melted. I'm gonna stick to my regular dragon wings but might change flying mod. If anyone can help me with this, please let me know.

If MDDA uses a script to give you wings, you could rework it to grant you wings from this mod instead of its own inside the Creation Kit. This would require you to make this mod a master of MDDA but shouldn't be very difficult. I have included all of the script source from this mod in the download so it should be fairly easy for you to figure out what you need to do.
Another option would be to reverse engineer what MDDA does to grant wings and just add your own version of that functionality to this mod.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or run into any problems.

      You can use workaround
invisible wings + set hotkey for flight
disable auto flight in mcm if it is on
when using dragon aspect pres hotkey to on and off flight
I tested this for similar problem and it seems to work without issues

    Hello.

This is my fifth time trying to download this mod in my NMM installer.

Error registering this mod: Animated Wings Ultimate - Animated Wings Ultimate (No Flying Mod Integration) 1.3.0 LE
Error: The specified path or file name (or both) are too long. The full file name must be less than 260 characters and the directory name must be less than 248.

I'm not sure what to tell you about that. My guess is that it's a limitation of NMM. Is there a reason you haven't updated to Vortex or MO2 yet? Literally tens of thousands of users have downloaded this mod and I'm not sure if I've ever heard of this issue, so it's probably a problem on your end and not a direct problem with this mod. If all else fails, you could try manually installing the mod by copying all of the mod's files to your Skyrim/Data directory.

This is the first time this has happened to me when I downloaded a mod in the 9 years I've been playing skyrim with mods from NMM, I think it's clear what the error is, but it's a little nonsense that NMM has an error like this, not being able to download a mod because of the length of its name, pff... well, I guess I'll try to install it manually, at least we already know one more NMM error.
Thanks for your time and for the mod, it looks great, as soon as I try it and see if I like it, I'll give it an endorsement.

It's probably a combination of the non-flying version having a longer name combined with NMM not being able to handle longer directory names. I'm pretty sure Vortex and MO2 can handle it, otherwise I'd be hearing about this non-stop.
I'm glad to hear you got it working, though.

bro, the integrated flight version requires the flight mod and I don't want that mod, so my skyrim can't be run correctly.

try it yourself, manually download the file of the version without integrated flight and tell me if there are any files there inside the folders.

The most likely thing is that no one has downloaded the non-flying version apart from me and that's why you're not getting as many bugs as this one, I don't know, but it's not normal that I'm downloading this manually and there are no files inside any of the folders , I am downloading other mods manually and yes there are files, everything is normal with all NMM mods except this one.

The non-flight version has over 7,500 downloads. You are by far not the only person to download it. It also very clearly has files inside. It could be that there was something wrong with Nexus Mods at the time you downloaded it, so perhaps try downloading it again later, or it's possible there's something wrong on your PC.
As for the Flying Version: If that's the only one you can get NMM to install, just go ahead and install the Flying Mod so it will work. Neither mod ever forces you to use flight so it won't make any noticable difference unless you want it to.

Great mod, but only 1 thing is crucial bad - giving wings to player/NPCs via spells (learning Spell Books + using Spells several times)
If i role-playing char who is not able to use magic at all (which i actually do) and using SpellResearch mod (magicka is very hard to learn and study, not just "i read immidiatly master-spell book and become master-wizard in few seconds") - very immersive-breaking and even almost impossible to use those books/spells bcs my char have 10 starting mana (and increasing only when using via another mod not via leveling) and unable to use spells/magick at all)
And suddenly "hey, i go to use this 94/cost spell several times a day")

Will be great for have option/replace to use menus via shouts/talants/powers without mana, same as most modders do when they need to attach pop up menu or option to select NPC with some power, at least remove mana cost, which will be still immersive-breaking, but at least here will be possibility to use spell with permanent 10 mana

Any way it just my niggle, mod is good and you did a amazing work, just sad that i cannt use it in curent view (still using potion-mgdef-based "Animated Dragon Wings" by the way)

Why don't you just use the potions in this mod instead? They don't require any magicka. You can also console command them to yourself if you want. I gave users several choices in how they can get wings. Granted, the best way to give NPCs wings is still the spells (you can use the craftable wings but they may have persistence issues due to how NPCs handle equippable items).
I'm also not sure what you mean by using "this 94/cost spell several times a day". How many new NPCs are you grating wings to every day? You can toggle wings on and off for free for characters that have been granting wings using the "Wings" and "Wings of another" spells or power. There's no Mana cost for those. Of course, you also have the option to make a quick edit in SkrimEdit and just remove the magicka cost of the spells. That should be fairly easy to do.
I think this mod already does pretty much everything you're looking for, you just didn't read enough to understand its full capabilities. Please give the description page a look-over and let me know if you still have any outstanding questions or issues. I'll be glad to answer any questions you have.

Tnk for reply, sorry that im not replying for so long)

For Player charachter yes, its in fact very easy to manage/control wings, it was same easy and light in previous first simple version of mod too, main goal and difficulties are the same - NPCs/followers wings, i have no menus/Options without using Spell to manage them, and i have only Spells which costing mana (94 mana/cost adept spells, as i said before), as for me using shouts/talants kind of magic for pop-up menus and toggles much more easy and also immersive than equipping magic in hands, its even without looking on reason i said about "no magic at all" playthroughs

About changing something myself - i dont have those tools and knowleges to do that)

About not granting wings via magic and just give NPCs equipable wings - here another huge problem i discovered already after creating first post
All equipable stuff having missing textures/meshes (red-white Exclamation points which is signaling that something is wrong with textures/meshes compatability, usually i saw same issues when sometimes by mistake was installing SE version of mod for my LE game)
So here even more instability/сonflicts/problems than i thinking first

Tryied this mod twice (installing/reinstalling), both times were same issues, most likely its something conflicting in my 200+ mod pack with this mod

So im still using "Animated Dragon Wings", for player its easy, stable and constant ( just drinking potion), for NPC/followers harder and they clearing wings every time after player changing location bcs they have only MGDEF effect even if you let them drink mutagen, so to keep wings on them i using bat command for MGDEF every time i changins location, a little bit lazy and not elegant way, but at least without errors and conflicts. at all, and since i alwayes travelling only with 1 follower with wings, its not a problem to have her ID lock in console all time

Also im in fact fully satisfied with version of mod and its abilities im using now because im not using "Flight" options for wings at all and almost not using them on my own charachter (in fact using them on my own charachter is the smallest of all issues and never have problems at all by the way), i using wings mostly for decoration/immersion for my custom Succubus followers, which i usually have only 2-5 in all world and only 1 who is constantly following me anywhere, so using bat-commands is in fact enough and simple, no troubles no bugs, applying MGDEF through bat commands easy and light thing without any conflicts

So dont worry about me, im good with what im having and using in my pack, all this feedback only for helping you to know about issues/things which can be improved for better usage)

Those are the standard white feathered wings. There are reference images a little further into the images that show every wing type and what category they belong to.

is it possible to suggest for a change for the draconic wings? for the edge to extend further down like the guardian wings to give them the illusion of being "big" or is it a DIY thing

I'm currently too busy with real life stuff as well as another project right now but you may be able to do that in Outfit Studio or Blender, though you will probably need to edit the texture as well to prevent it from appearing stretched. If you do make some longer variants and they look good, feel free to send them to me and I'll add them as new variants in the next update and add you to the credits.

kinda conflicts with mods that adds custom transformations like triumvirate and wrath of nature series

wing jump effects does not disable while transformed and upon transforming back wings are visually missing (fixed by save-load / toggling wings) but jump effects are still present

It doesn't conflict so much as simply require a patch. All of the wing visuals are infinite duration "magic hit effect" forms. When a character changes race, Skyrim's engine removes all magic hit effect visuals but not their associated magic effects. This is why the wing visuals disappear but ;you still retain the gameplay effects. To fix this, I created an AFW_RaceChangeListener script that checks to see if a character has transformed into vampire lord, werewolf, or werebear form. If they have, it simply toggles the wing effects off. When they revert to humanoid form, the wings are toggled back on if they had wings before transforming.
The only real problem here is that I obviously couldn't be aware of and list every single mod-added race change. All you need to do is patch the AFW_RaceChangeListener script to include your mod-added racial transformations and it will work just as well as with the vanilla race changes.
