Fixed CTDs When Fast Travelling. For unknown reasons Legendary edition (FOR GODS SAKE TODD!) did not like conditions on snow and ash effects triggering. Funny thing, but SSE EDITION with the same conditions works perfectly fine! (TODD!!!!!).
Because of this crap, ASH visual effects from now on will only work with vanilla DLC02VolcanicAshStorm01 weather (before, it was depended only on regions + IsSnow Flag). This is was only solution that i could find to remove those conditions which LE did not like. If you are using some weather mods which change this weather and want ash and snow effect properly to work together, then compatibility patch is needed (I removed WEATHER - SNOW FLAG in DLC02VolcanicAshStorm01). Otherwise during Solstheim-storms both ash and snow visual effects will trigger and overlap each other.
Before I used wet and cold, I stopped using it because (I don't know the technical terms) it stressed my PC a lot when using others that also modify behavior, battle and improvements in the AI of the NPCs, just for that reason, since I don't use wet an cold the game is more stable. not because it's a bad mod, it's great, it's just that my pc is old and is half a click away from exploding when I load it a lot. I wish I had known about your mod a while ago, it's great, it works wonders, I can see it again the breathing behavior in cold climates, the details of the bubbles, the snow cover, the dynamics of the screen when it rains, it's great. Thank you very much for the mod, I did a 2-hour run trying your mod while I was recording it in different places and in battle, it runs great, thank you very much for sharing it. sorry for the long post. the summary: your mod is amazing.
I have a problem, then out of nowhere the rain and snow effects are generated even though it's not raining or I'm not in a snowy place. How can I fix or remove this effect?
JFYI, I have this mod running and working on Skyrim non-SE and without Hearthfire.
Had to use TES5Edit to do a "Clean Masters" on the file 'RASS - Visual Effects.esp', downloaded on January 21, 2021. Dawnguard and Dragonborn are still required though.
So if anyone doesn't have Skyrim Special Edition (SE) and have the 2 aforementioned DLCs, it's possible to use this mod if you have basic knowledge on modding tools, hope this can help!
Just need final tweaks, like adding conditions for atmospheric effects to only happen when the player is either on TamrielWorld or SolsteinWorld (DLC), so it doesn't rain when we are inside of a dungeon - using the condition IsInterior is tricky because several "interiors" are actually worldspaces, message me if you want to see how I patched your mod...
I have been tinkering with the wetness effect shader on and off so people don't glow when it's raining, noticeable with end of frame image space toggled off (TEOFIS console command), and based on my own mods involving shaders, I am close to a completely satisfactory result: Edge and edge effect colors seems to cause the shader to glow the most, but not so much when at zero, but then both the texture persistent and full alpha ratios require adjustments because they will become too faint, a 2x multiplier helps with this. Also lowered the color scale but still experimenting... I might try the same with the ash shader; by the way, snow looks better as FrostFXShader IMHO; and the cold breath is flawless, nice work!
Forgive me for my stupid question and my vision is -1, but don't tell me, this mod conflicts with Wet & Cold? Does this mod work better and have frosty breath in the presence of a snowy location? Better than Wet and Cold?
It does a lot of what Wet and Cold already does, yes. The only things that Wet and Cold has that this mod doesn't is the footsteps feature, the included armor, and the AI changes, so if you insist on having both installed, what you can do is turn off most of Wet and Cold through the MCM, leave on footsteps, then use RASS for everything else if you prefer.
Now, whether it's better than Wet and Cold is up to the user, some people prefer RASS, some people prefer Wet and Cold. If you're looking for an alternative that's lighter and not as script-heavy, then yes, I'd choose this one. :)
Of course, this mod is "better" because lighter, is fresh, up to date and does the same if not better than Wet & Cold. It does not add gear like hoods, fur cloaks to NPCs or sending NPCs home by bad weather. These are really nice features of Wet & Cold if you use (and you should use) Frostfall and Campfire.
I did not notice the thing with Footsteps in Wet & Cold, maybe because i do not play much. Not really that feature i would miss. Maybe sb knows a nice mod auto-equipping gear if the weather changes?
Hey Im getting an issue with the Frost shader where the snowflakes particles that are created around the characters are SUPER noticeable and people look like theyre leaving behind huge dust clouds.
Are you using an ENB? If so, it might be that. You can edit the [CHARACTERGLOW] parameters (since that's usually the problem) as that can adversely affect the color intensity of the shaders on your character. If you turn it off, it'll simply use vanilla settings for character glow. If you want it on, you're going to have to tweak it for yourself as every ENB displays things differently.

This mod should be on the G.E.M.S.

Or if anyone can upload a file to make it always activate?
Thanks.
