I've used this one for a while. It's solid, but I do have one gripe. The horse is always fighting my battles, and it acts as a tank. This puts the game into easy mode for me, since I can just attack people in the back until they die. For this reason, I tend to leave the horse behind when I explore. Great mod, but it would be awesome if you could make a version where the horse would run away from every battle(even better if it can be called back, like in better horses).
Been playing around with this one for a while. I'm a newb with skyrim mods but I do know how to install them and all that. The problem I've been having with this one is definitely no name change, "Lynxx" kinda ruins the immersion (no offense :3). I also had it (the horse) bug out and start attacking me after I've mistakenly fireballed it a couple of times in battle.
@ nold7 - I know this is very basic stuff to check, but since I see that you're a new member and I don't know how much experience you've had with using mods I'll try to assist. If you already know to do this stuff, just ignore me :]
1) Are you using NMM or doing a manual install? I can't troubleshoot NMM because I do all my installing manually just because I'm old fashioned (and am very organized). But if you're manually installing, you'll need to unpack the mod with a program like WinRAR (you can download this from C|Net) - then drag the contents into the Data folder. Mods won't work if they're just plopped into the Data folder as an unpacked .rar or .7z file.
2) Did you make sure the mod was checked (hence activated) in the data files tab when you started up Skyrim?
3) Are you looking for the horse at the Windhelm stables or Whiterun? The horse should be in Windhelm.
4) If you've done these things and it's still missing, you could try putting this mod last in your load order to see if it's a mod conflict issue.
5) If none of this helps, try deleting --> then re-installing the mod.
NOTE: Also try looking around the immediate area of the stables too. This horse will attack if provoked, so if a bandit (or something else) hurt it, it may have chased after the provoker to fight/finish them off. It's a remote possibility, but it might be plausible. Hope this helps.
I've been using this mod and its been working like a charm. Just out of curiosity though, is there a way to add the feature for a player to rename horses at will? It seems Bethesda took that out of the console's abilities in Skyrim. If not, I'm fine with this mod as-is, but I do miss that bit of customization.
