I tried using this in just the special edition as is awhile back. I believe it works fine. Some mods just work out of the box fine others needs certain tweaks. I will probably retest just to be sure, but I believe it'll work fine. If anyone else actively playing the game has the special edition as well, feel free to boot it up and verify.
This mode is pure nostalgia. I'm currently playing a death knight and this mod makes the game perfect. The spells and rooms are just great. The music almost lets me shed a tear because that's how I remembered my wow time. Thanks for this mod <3 Greetings from Germany!
Thank you! As a DK only player from the Wotlk days I know how you feel :) best class fantasy in any game ever. It's a big passion project of mine and I'm glad it was able to make you feel that way, ^^ it means I have done somthing right. xd Have fun!
Nifty! Figured you knew about this already, but there's a Death Knight race mod from Morrowind1979 (here) that has a quest associated with it, includes the Lich King, Sargeras, and a few other things. The modder had issues with the custom head parts that they couldn't fix (it's explained pretty well in the posts), but if you ever get the urge to add on to this mod it would be an interesting place to start. Their take on the DK has some of the same spells that you do here (same source material, natch), but grants them on level up.?
I have played the original mod it was big part of my inspiration.^^ As cool as it would be to take my mod into that direction seeing how Morrowind1979 with alot more modding experience having alot of problems with it I don't know if I would be able to do much with it. ^^' Also with all that stuff added on it would be much harder for me to convert the mod over to Special Edition when i make an update than it is now. As for the spells on level up I do believe you need a new race for that which would just completely change everything. I have big plans sometimes but sadly I quickly realize how inexperienced I'm for that.
I hear you on that. If I understood a bit more about how to mod, I'd just remake the race without those custom head parts and see how that goes. There's a couple of glowing eye mods out there for those who want glowing eyes, and I honestly don't remember my DKs in WoW having glowing eyes by default.
Death Knights do have blue glowing eyes. The thing is that making a "Death Knight" variant of each race with a glowing eye would be the easiest part as there is already a blue eye glow effect in the game used by the Draugr. But then dealing with the fallout... whenever you would want to use an armor mod I would have to make a patch for it. The most popular race mod that people probably use with my mod is Undeath and when you become a Lich in that it does change your race which would break everything and I would not try to mess around in Undeath's files again, it's a mess. : D If someone wants the eye glow effect it's super easy to add it to your character with a simple console command.
Maybe using a quest could work? Or perhaps using the change headpart SKSE function? If it's just the player that turns into a DK either method could do the trick, I think.
Now for ideas, how about something simple as enchantments that mimic WoW runes (Fallen Crusader, etc.)?
I don't want to mess around with the race idea for now. If I do it i want to do it right with more perks and everything ready. As for the enchantments DK runes that will only be aviable at the runforge is exactly my future plan for the next update but I want to come up with some unique ones at least one for each theme: blood, frost, and unholy. So far I have Rune of Spellbreaking which is a magic ward on blocking.
Fallen Crusader is a proc that heals and buffs the wielder, which I recon would not be hard to implement. Rune of Razorice can be a debuff to frost resistance. Stoneskin Gargoyle could be a stackable damage reduction buff applied per swing to the wielder. Now for unholy is a little trickier... Maybe a chance of temporarily spawning a ghost or zombie on hit? maybe even making the spawn explode on death? Similar to Legion's DKs.
Yeah those could work, Stonskin Gargoyle would make more sense to stack on blocked hits. For Unholy I was thinking about somthing like Rune of Unending Thirst in shadowlands, giving weapon and movement speed since I already associated Unholy spells with those and stamina. I have raising zombies reserved through for an Undead Plague potion/poison that mass reanimate the target when they die and nearby corpses. That is just a concept for now through.
Sounds pretty nice. The Stoneskin Gargoyle change makes it far more amusing to use too. I thought about a speed buff for unholy first as well, but decided against it precisely because of the speed buffs that already exist in the mod. In any case, looking forward to the update.
Impressive, how well is all done. Totally different mod from others with the meshes and designs. I like it because i recently started some undead character and this really suit the needs of that. This came in right time to me.
Damn, this is really badass work, and something we dont have enough of in Skyrim. You`ll get my endorsement for sure ;)
However,I have a few suggestions. If you think about incorporating them or not is your decision in the end... :) so,lets get started:
1. and most important thing would be some trial to give you the "rights" to claim this awesome fortress your own. Its a lil bit weird when you go there as lvl. 1 noob and everyone already obeys you...if creating a trial quest or something like that is too much work, you could simply set something else as requirement, like beeing the master of the mage guild and dark brotherhood, the slayer of alduin or miraak or all dragon priests or something like that. You know what i mean,a badass goal for a badass fortress.Would be also cool if the Draugr start kneeling when you come closer :)
2. make the floating books (oghma infiniums or how they are named) usable, instead of just decoration
3. The green pillars in the throne room could be used as kind of some weapon displays, for your most badass stuff
4. The necromancers in that side fortress room could be just the half of them, and therefore maybe trainers in different types of magic, and the master could give you all the spells which are just laying around for free in the fortress. Would be cool if he could even teach them to you for a small fee.
5. Maybe add a teleportation room to all major places, like solstheim, sovngarde, soul cairn, high hrothgar and all major cities
1. While a quest would be nice i agree that's out of my league, even after all of this i don't consider myself a modder really. I would recommend people to go there after they dealt with Miraak but at the same time i like to think about the whole thing as an 'alternate start' without really being one. All in all i don't want to take away the freedom from the people.
2. Those books are really meant for just decoration as 'spell books' the ones in Apocrypha are just basically triggers with a book skin. I don't know what could they be used for.
3. I don't want to make tons of displays the whole point is that as a Death Knight you would only have just the one weapon and armor. Plus sorry but i always hated those house mods that give you a museum instead of a house.
4. Again would be cool but I want to point back to #1, freedom early on gold could be a restriction and later on you just throw it out the window anyways.
5. Is something i will consider in the future. The Soul Cairn and Solstheim would make sense in my head but could mess with your game.

It is time to raise an undead army and wipe out skyrim because frostmourne hungers!

That are just my 2 cents. Mod is awesome anyway
