Perhaps you would add Machiavelli's "Discourses of Livy", the counterpoint of "The Prince". Whether or not you agree with the line of thought there's historically observed patterns.
Not a philosophy book. More like an indoctrination into psychopathic long term suicide while maintaining ignorance of the reality of motion. Essentially Satanic.
EDIT: Disregard this post. I don't feel like having an argument. Just gonna say I very much disagree, and leave it at that. I'm not fully sure what you argument is, as you have an peculiar way of phrasing things. But I would be interested if you wished to elaborate on what you meant by this.
Machiavelli is a favorite figure of mine, including criticisms of his work.
I'm coming from a place of loving truth and honour. The Prince only pretends to be a clinical look at 'government systems' while attempting to get the naive to presume lying and psychopathic behaviour as inevitable. Albeit, Machiavelli, himself was under the common delusion of thinking that humans have a magic power to 'originate' thought so his reasoning, as well, was naively corrupted. Makes me think of Ayn Rand.
I don't speak Italian unfortunately. My primary languages are English and Japanese. I've also picked up some basic German and Russian from music, but no formal lessons in either.
I suppose I like the translation by W.K. Marriot but never gave much thought to the differences.
As for adding Thucydides...are you shifting your project to all the "fathers" of different fields? It will certainly take longer to finish your project. ^-^I recommend finishing one project before beginning another. Although I have my favorites, I've missed a great deal of philosophical works considered to be mainstays of the field. Most of my educators preferred current events to philosophy so I don't have much exposure beyond the most famous of works. Your project has introduced me to some interesting works.
Nah, It's just that Machiavelli influenced also the realist school of International Relations and I'm not a realist but I like him quite a bit. Thucydides is considered one of the fathers of IR so I feel an urge to shift towards IR literature.
Many left theory books I like would be added in this case as well - Immanuel Wallerstein, David Harvey, even Lenin. For now I just enjoy adding whatever I feel like adding at a particular moment so we'll see.

Also now that I've added Machiavelli I really want to add Thucydides :D It's gonna slow down my whole left theory project. What have you done!
