SSE Version

GENERAL STUFF

As you play through Skyrim, you'll notice that quite a few quests actually have you kill a named NPC or a named NPC dies from a scripted event. This isn't anything surprising or interesting in Skyrim as most of the problems the Dragonborn faces are solved by killing something. However, some of these named NPCs have houses that will now be vacant for the rest of your play-through.

This mod allows the player to purchase/acquire some of these houses.

This mod started off as a personal creation to allow my character to purchase houses in some of the cities that didn't have them in the base game (Morthal, Dawnstar) but I later decided to expand it to more houses to enable different characters to get different houses each play-through.

Below are the houses currently covered and how they can be acquired.
(Note: Once the requirements are met, the player may have to switch locations for the quests to start)

HOUSE > REQUIREMENTS

Ironstad Cabin (Beitild's House) > Must become a thane of Dawnstar and have completed the Dark Brotherhood side contract to kill Beitild. Speak to the Jarl.

Vesuius Homestead (Silus Vesuius Museum) > Must become a thane of Dawnstar and have opted to kill Silus in the "Pieces of the Past" quest.

Marshloom (Alva's House) > Must be thane of Morthal and have completed the "Laid to Rest" quest (Saving Hroggar may cause him to stay in the house with the player character)

Mysterious House (Abandoned House) > Complete the "House of Horrors" quest.

House of Curiosities (Calixto's House of Curiosities ) > Complete the "Blood on the Ice" quest (Find the real killer). Speak to the Seward.

Reachman's Rest (Nepos' House) > Kill Nepos and his servants during or after "Forsworn Conspiracy" Quest and help Thonar by killing Madanach during "No One Escapes Cidna Mine" Quest. Speak with Thonar Silver-blood at his home to purchase the house.

Riftweald Manor (Mercer Frey's House) > Complete the Thieves Guild main quest mission "Blindsighted" then speak with Maven Black-briar to purchase the house.
[Alternatively, you can instead become the leader of the Thieves guild to get the house from Maven for free.]

Mixwater Cabin (Mixwater Mill, Worker's House) > Explore the house's interior then speak to Gilfre at the lumber mill.

Secluded Hut (Lund's Hut) > Explore the house's interior then speak to Jouane Manette in Rorikstead.

Half-Moon Mill > Must become a thane of Falkreath and have completed the Dark Brotherhood side contract to kill Hern. Hert must also have been killed. Speak to the Steward. (Adds a caretaker NPC at the mill.)

Thornwood Shack (Abandoned Shack) > Speak to Benor in Morthal after either killing Astrid and completing the "Destroy the Darkbrotherhood" quest or finishing the Darkbrotherhood questline.

Scout's Lodge (Abandoned Lodge) > Complete the side quest "A New source of Stalhrim" then speak to Fanari Strong-Voice.

WINTERHOLD REBUILT (Optional) > Adds a player home as part of a More Player Homes - Minimalist Style quest for rebuilding the destroyed buildings in the city of Winterhold. At least 1 in-game day must have passed. Speak to the Jarl of Winterhold and help rebuild the city.

NEW
RESTORED HOMES (Optional) > The burnt down houses in Morthal, Ivarstead and near Whiterun Watchtower can now be rebuilt in the More Player Homes - Minimalist quest Style.

Fogstone Hall (Morthal Destroyed House) - Complete the "Laid to Rest" quest. Wait a few hours outside the Jarls palace. Speak to the Jarl or their Steward.

Fairwind Homestead (Ivarstead Destroyed House) - Complete the Darkbrotherhood contract to "Kill Narfi". Speak to Wilhelm in the Vilemyr Inn. You need to be at least an acquaintance with Wilhelm (do this which ever way you want).

NOTE: A bridge was added outside the restored home in Ivarstead. The NPCs may not use it as I opted to not to interfere with Bethesda's navmeshing due to the large amount of error/changes the CK made every time I attempted edited it. I strive to only edited what is necessary for the mod to work so because of this I have chosen to leave the navmesh untouched.

Watcher's Retreat (Whiterun Destroyed House (Near the Whiterun Watchtower)) - Clear out Fort Greymoor or complete the Fight for Whiterun (doesn't matter what side your on). Speak to the Jarl or their steward.

After these conditions are met, simply go and talk to either the Jarl or Stewards for the respective city and pay for the houses.

Also, these houses have been touched up a bit to include some of the amenities that most player houses have (Weapon Displays, Crafting Tables) but they do not have the same level of "what to get now and what to get later" as the base game houses do. They all come fixed up once they are acquired with some having minor choices the player can make.

COMPATIBILITY

The mod tries not to interfere with any of the quests that need to be completed or their various triggers and markers within the houses. Quest altering mods should be fine so long as they keep the same end stages as in vanilla.

Any mods that redesigns or redecorate the same cell as the ones from this mod will be incompatible.

If any bugs are found please post them and I'll try to fix them quickly.
