I really like the idea of consuming soul gems for power (fits with you doing it to dragons in vanilla~)
The soul Drain spell though, feels a bit clunky to use, and even fully evolved is still under powered past level 20-30. I think it would be better if you could level the spell with soul points, rather than it being based on a flat number of souls absorbed.

If it were possible to implement, I think a better mechanic would be that you automatically 'drain' soultrapped souls that aren't captured by a soulgem (perhaps needing a permanent buff granted by a spell book before it works?), and switch the "Soul Drain" spell to actually Draining (not just damaging) Health, Magicka and Stamina while also applying the soultrap effect.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback! Soul Drain is underpowered by design, at least as a destruction spell. If it were made too strong or the soul draining was an automatic process, it would seem to undermine one of the primary goals of this mod, which is to give soul gems a real purpose after The Black Star quest. That said, I agree that Soul Drain is a bit clunky--probably the clunkiest part of the mod and I suspect there are threading issues going on that make the SP accumulation/number of souls absorbed inaccurate--and am considering removing it altogether in v2.

    Hi there,

really like the concept of absorbing souls for power, as a xbox one player it wouldn’t currently be possible to use this however I’ve definitely seen similar things done such as iNeed which uses a box with multiple options already in game, if you ever found a way to make this possible I would be ever so greatful, If not its a amazing mod regardless in my eyes.

I'm well aware of approaches to this that don't require SKSE. I have no plans to release an Xbox version of this mod for a number of reasons.

      1. I'm on a modding hiatus until Q3 2021 at the earliest
      2. I have a spiritual successor for this mod planned for when I return from hiatus
      3. I don't make mods I wouldn't personally use

Bottom line: I'd never port this to Xbox unless I personally felt like playing this on Xbox

I saw this and hoped it was a mod that let you capture NPC souls in such a way you could conjure that individual as a ghost. Is there any mod that does this?

This is really awesome! One thing I would LOVE though, is a little widget in the bottom right corner that displays the current soul count, it would be a bit like dark souls, and really feel like you've just absorbed some souls too, getting to see the amount you just siphoned from something! Love this!

The soul menu depends on MCM which depends on SKSE which is unlikely to ever be ported to console. Sorry!

if i may make a suggestion..there have been some mods that use mcm (which needs skyse) that may have been ported to console..the mcm just gets changed/replaced in the form of a spell menu..much like better vampires..that mod got ported to Xbox one before and to change settings you have a spell and change what you want..go back or foward to the next option etc. that was a replacement for the mcm..maybe you could do it like that so it wont need skyse and the settings are in a spell not mcm..if you can do it like that id be more then happy to test it out for you on the Xbox one

It can be done, yes. In effect, you create a spell that opens a messagebox (like when you try to poison a weapon), with multiple choices. These choices would be stuff like "soul points" "config" etc. Clicking one of these would open another messagebox containing more stuff.

The issue here is that messageboxes are really unwieldy and like to break a lot.

Yep, that's planned. The mod in its present form requires a high degree of self-control!

I love the idea but your mod page gives no idea how to actually buy anything with soul points. I have absorbed dozens of souls and don't know how to spend the points. So… how do I use them?

In the MCM menu. Click on options on the first page to buy them~

You go to the Soul Menu, then click on whatever upgrade you want to purchase, assuming you have enough Soul Points for the purchase.

    I definitely love your mod.
I need some info on 'Soul drain has evolved'
Could you explain the evolution system on the Soul drain?
    How many time/victims/cast between evolutions?
Does evolution increase damage? Reduce magicka consumption?

Soul Drain currently has five ranks. Each rank, it deals more damage per second, but costs more magicka. Soul Drain levels up after you've killed so many victims (the exact amount required depends on your configuration settings). You can view Soul Drain's current rank as well as its progress to the next rank in the Stats tab of the MCM. You can view its current damage and magicka cost in your spell list.
